I'll be fine with getting either the Sox or Rays in the playoffs. We aint scared of nobody, as proven from last season.

I dont expect much from the Sox, the pitching staff has had way too many injuries. I cant think of anyone I'd want to start in a game three.

Are the BoSox pulling a Tigers choke-job from a couple years back when the Twips caught the latter...?

After the next few series, I have a feeling that the Yanks are going to help the Angels move up into the number one spot. As a Dodger fan, that was hard for me to say. However, both the Rays and the Angels have their league leaders to play in their final games, while the Sox have to face the Orioles; the O's could be the spoiler. It's up in the air at this point.

I'd love to say all sorts of things about the sox collapse, but I'm reminded of the 04 series. Never live that down.....

Unfortunately no one is beating Philly. Pitching is too good.

I can relate to that being a N.Y. Ranger fan.

Yankees won game one, TB won, looking good @ 3-0 Yankees in the second inning of game 2!

How are the Yankees going to win any playoff games when they are forced into double headers, & have had 2 days off in September & just played a 14 inning game?
I smell conspiracy....

Given his personality, he is polarizing...but, there is no denying he's a great manager.

The Marlins are getting a good coach.

On another note, I hope yesterday was not the last time I saw Buerhle pitch in a ChiSox uniform.

And as usual, another efficient gem as I have grown accustomed to from the pitcher who I can only best describe as the ChiSox's version of Mad Dog Maddux. No, they are not the same...but, I can see similarities.

I hope the guy does not sign with the Cards.

Good game between the Phils and Braves. Coming down the the last pitch!

Who saw Tim Hudson reach out to Wilson after the error? One of the classiest players in the game.

Wow there is some amazing shit going on right now.

Rays score 6 in the 9th. Rangers hit a home run in the 9th with 2 outs to take the lead (hope they win for homefield advantage!)

Yeah WTF Reyes. I read he took himself out too. Does he have a batting title incentive clause kick in?

The Mets manager wanted to keep him in, and Reyes "planned" that if he got a hit and went 1 for 1, he would take himself out of the game. Bush league play, IMO.

Yankees had to have thrown it on purpose. 7-0 in the 8th & they loose? WTF is that?
The fact Rivera was not up in the 9th with a 1 run lead to notch another save I think is loud evidence the Yankees were throwing it.
What sucks is now the rays have the momentum with that finish.

Also, a walk and hit batter were among the first few runs they scored in the 8th. I thought the same thing too.

Telegraphing that many runs? Sure they could've thrown in Rivera but why risk injury. This was a Spring Training game for them.

I can't believe I am saying this, but don't blame the Yankees for throwing the game. The BoSox had many chances to seal the deal and permanently take the number one spot. Shit, the Yanks even helped them stay ahead in the standings by beating the Rays in the previous series. The BoSox should have never allowed it to come to the final game of the season by losing 20 games this last month. It's not the Yankees responsibility to help the BoSox.

Now I am going to go kill myself for defending the Yankees.

Most teams don't even play a lot of their players in these games. The Yanks rested Jeter for one game and Lightening Rod for another one. I see no issue with not running Rivera out there with a playoff game right around the corner.

Keep in mind that the Yanks live and die with Mariano in the post season, and he is not that young anymore.

The Red Sox collapsed....that is all....no one to blame but themselves. Now they and The Braves know what Mets fans feel like.

No contractual incentive for the batting title but it will help his case with his next contract.

I think it is crappy what he did but I ain't going to lose sleep over it. Consider this scenario....Your boss comes to you and say that he has something for you to complete. If you get it done in one try then you can stop. If you choose to continue then you lose your bonus for getting it wrong. What would you do? And YES I know it was his decision and not the manager's.

To him his bonus was the batting title. Getting that probably nets him a couple extra million bucks. And anyone that is a Mets fan knows that Reyes has always wanted recognition. Just saying that I understand why he did it.
