I think the Sox will still win the division. The Twins have a hard time away from home, while the Sox thrive there.

Meanwhile I'm just ticked off Kevin Hart gave up a game-winning base hit. It's times like this where I doubt the Cubs chances in the playoffs.

We don't have another away game the rest of the year...oh, and we're playing the ROYALS. So,

The Twins finish the season at home.

Still think the Tigers will pass them up too?

oops. Sorry, I'm not a Sox fan so I don't know where they or their rivals are playing this weekend; unlike some on this board, I stick to ONE (1) Chicago-based baseball team. Forgive my ignorance.

Well we don't have to listen to Harrelson anymore. ESPN will be covering the game tomorrow.

And we don't have to listen to Jackson anymore, ever.

It will be interesting to hear the call of a game without the cheerleading and pompoms.

Well, it's gonna be interesting for sure. This fight for the divisional title is just absolutely ugly. Your Twips had such a sureshot and then blow two against the Royals. Yeah, the Royals.

If Chicago beats the World Series Champs Tigers tomorrow, it'll be anyone's game since your Twips hafta play at the Cell in the deciding one afterwards. I think my ticker can't take anymore of this.

And the Sux had a sureshot to make tommorrow's game a clincher and they gave up 23 runs in two games to the Indians. At least the Royals had won 13 out of 15 games before today.

And you should be sending a dozen roses to Cliff Lee's stiff neck.

LOL Lee would've owned you guys. I hope Chicago wins today for the epic clash tomorrow between the Sox/Twins. I'll tune in to that. Even if Minny loses much props to them. Their team got decimated and they almost/did win their division. That's 3 teams to overcome that were "supposed" to have win. And what's really is that they did it with nobody hitting more HR's than Morneau's 20-something and no SP with more than 1X wins (I can't remember). I mean even us lowly Marlins did well but we had to break the record for infielders with 25+ HRs and have a 15 game winner and Josh Johnson and Chris Volstad were nuts in the 2nd half for our starting pitching.

As for the Mets. That's pretty damn heartbreaking. I thought with Delgado's resurgence you'd guys would get in. That bullpen really screwed you. It didn't help that John Maine and Billy Wagner got hurt. Probably why Minaya is getting an extension. He had a nice team but that bullpen without it's closer really screwed you. I'm almost positive that KRod will be a Met and you guys will overpay big time.

If the Cubs do not make the World Series, I really don't know what I'm going to do with myself. I still feel they won't. I'm willing to bet it on. If not LA, then Milwaukee or Philly will finish them off. Call me crazy, but I can't see them winning 2 series in a row

It may be pushed back at bit. It's raining right now. Here are the guys that will keep the Tigers motivated: Leyland, Garcia, Ordonez, Granderson, Sheffield. They better play their butts off.

Why do we do this to ourselves?

One thing that is truly bothering me is everyone calling this a meltdown or a collapse. That's bullshit, this was a race. The Mets lost the race but they didn't blow a huge lead like last year. Philly, Brewers, and Mets were back and forth the whole second half. The Mets lost the race, but they did not colapse. The Brewers and Phillies are two very good teams.

I must say though that as bad as it is that they lost AGAIN....the fact is that the METS lost both corner out fielders for more than half their season. Lost their starting 2nd baseman. Lost their closer. Had a horrible bull pen. And STILL hung in there.

I'm disappointed, but I think they did fairly well for what they were dealt. I think that a lot more should have been done to aquire some help, but who's to say.

Bring on 2009.

Not to mention losing Maine, Pedro, El Duque, and Duaner for good chunks of time.

We lost Duaner in a car accident. Someone else have been pitching with his shirt on.

As for Pedro and El Duque.....it's time to hang it up.

Is it too early for a "Off Season Discussion" thread?

Move Maine to Bullpen to close.

Sign Derek Lowe

Resign Perez or sign another solid #3 starter

Move Murphy to Second

Trade Niese and another prospect for Magglio Ordonez

Rahab Church

You want an opinion on the Mets from a Twins fan? At the start of the season most guys here penciled them into the World Series against Boston. Beckett vs. Santana in Game 1. Never mind the previous year's collapse. Never happen again.

So a 4 game lead with 17 to go vanishes again. Florida takes 2 of 3 again, Mets lose on the last game of the season again. And the team that lost Santana has outlasted the team that gained Santana.

And no Yankees either.

No offense, but this midwestern guy is happy to see no NY's on the postseason hats this year.

Yea, most other states don't like the NY teams. It's understandable, however, this will probably one of the lowest rated postseasons in a long time.

I like the Mets 10x better than the Yankees, but lately they have taken on a big money persona.

The Cubs/Dodgers and Red Sox/Angels will have big ratings.

The AL Central/Rays and Brewers/Phillies will not.

I watched some of the game as it ended up going late after all. I saw the Salami by Ramirez. First pitch and see ya. Leyland probably wanted to kill his relievers and catcher. WTF is up with their control? Anyhow tonight is clash of the AL Central. Tonight it's on TBS!!!

And that's why Detroit finished last. If Freddy's neck doesn't happen, the Twins are off to Tampa last night.

Post season predictions?

I'm thinking Chi - Mil for the NL pennant and TB - LA for the AL

Cubbies and Sox in the Playoffs for the first time in 100+ years. My roommate is a diehard Sox fan and had several friends over. They're doing Irish Car Bombs as we speak.

I really feel bad Illinorge: Vikings Suck, Twins are out, (our) Illini can't defend, both the NBA and NHL team are awful, AND his Presidential candidate isn't going to win in November, either.
