I'm guessing that was for team captain Dustin Brown....an homage if you will to Brown's epic F-bomb on national TV after winning The Cup.

It's because of Your Homerism that you don't understand. That Hat was placed specifically where it was as a tribute to Garnet "Ace" Bailey who was working as a scout for the LA Kings when his plane was involved in the 9-11 attacks. He never got to see his team win it all.

He's the reason the Kings Mascot is named "Bailey."

There trying to say, "this guy right here, Garnet Ace Bailey is a King and he's a champion."

Thanks for the context. I didn't "get" the picture either and couldn't
tell if Moog was pleased or upset.

Both Bavis and Bailey lost their lives on the 9/11 flight.
Hence why their names are next to each other on the memorial.

A very classy tribute to say the least. They will not be forgotten.

The following September, the Los Angeles Kings family was deeply shaken and saddened over the loss of Garnet "Ace" Bailey and Mark Bavis, two scouts who were aboard United Airlines Flight 175 from Boston’s Logan Airport on Sept. 11, 2001. Both men are truly missed by the Kings organization as their fantastic personalities and love for the sport of hockey were evident in their work, and their passion for the Kings helped foster a fun and winning attitude. To honor Bailey and Bavis, the Kings wore a special "AM" patch for the 2001-02 season, a logo which still appears on Kings mascot Bailey's jersey to this day. For more information and to contribute to the Bailey and Bavis Memorial Fund

Well it was a huge story in the hockey community and the nation at large after 9/11/

It's not an obscure, LA Kings only story

Wow. You really are piece of work.

I was busy worrying if my relatives were safe. I am from Manhattan and had several Family members that worked in the towers and surrounding area, I lost a cousin and knew many of the victims so step the f*ck off..

A classy move!

LOS ANGELES -- Before the Los Angeles Kings are publicly recognized for winning the Stanley Cup with a downtown parade Thursday, the organization’s governor, Tim Leiweke, took time to recognize Terry Murray and Dave Taylor, two men who helped guide the organization to where it is today, but weren't around to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Murray coached the Kings for 3 1/2 seasons before he was fired in mid-December. Using the offensive and defensive systems Murray put in place, Darryl Sutter took over behind the bench and led L.A. to its first Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

“To me, we're not here without Terry,” Leiweke said Wednesday afternoon on the Mason & Ireland show on 710 ESPN radio. “He did a great job of teaching us a system that allowed us to win a Cup.”

Leiweke had similar praise for Taylor, the longest-tenured member of the Kings who served as general manager from 1997 to 2006. It was Taylor who drafted current Kings’ stars Jonathan Quick, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown. After the Kings qualified for the playoffs only four times in that span, winning just one series, Leiweke decided it was time for a change and brought in Dean Lombardi.

“I hated that decision to this day,” Leiweke said. “I probably don't have a very good relationship with Dave, but I've sent him an e-mail and told him we wouldn't be here without you. You have as much to do with this as anybody.”

Leiweke said members of the Kings organization, including owner Philip Anschutz, have also reached out to Murray, who kept busy scouting potential Eastern Conference playoff opponents for the Kings. He said Murray will be awarded a championship ring and the team is lobbying to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup.

Good question. The Hawks did the same thing with Tallon and gave him a ring...but, don't think his name is on the Cup.

Is Patrik Elias in possession of LA Kings’ missing Stanley Cup puck?

While it doesn't rise to the level of mystery and outright conspiracy as the puck from the Chicago Blackhawks' Stanley Cup-winning OT goal in 2010, the whereabouts of the Los Angeles Kings' game puck from Game 6 were unknown after the final streamers were cleared from the ice.

According to Rich Hammond of LA Kings Insider, "Jordan Nolan was the closest Kings player to the puck, but he appeared to peel off and join the celebration" rather than protect history.

A rookie mistake, no doubt … which is why "Dashiell " Hammond has sleuthed a more veteran suspect in the King of All Puck Mysteries: Patrik Elias of the New Jersey Devils.

Check out the final moments here, in particular the left side of the ice at around 2:05 in:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/41J-cDBxSx8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's hard to imagine Elias — one of the classiest players in the NHL — keeping the puck out of spite. Just spit-ballin' here, but considering that he skated over to Martin Brodeur after the game, perhaps a keepsake for the Devils' veteran goalie?

Unless of course he was going to bring it to the dressing room so Jersey players could take turns hurling it at Steve Bernier.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...9621--nhl.html

Maybe he'll toss it to Deano at the press conference when he throws on his new Kings jersey on July 1

1) Get your own phrase. Piece of work is already taken.

2) I guarantee no one that had relatives involved was paying any attention to any sports at all especially those outside their area.

I have deep feelings brought on by death of my relative and friends and the attack on my city of birth so when people try to "wagon jump" on it it pisses me off.

Finally I say you are incredible, finding crap to stir after your team won.
