it was pretty amusing! The analysts table was worthless! At least the tradebreaker table had something to talk about. And Roenick calling Matt Green instead of Mike and sounding like a fool every time they turned to him.

I love how everyone was screaming Litle Schenn could be traded.

Question: How pleased are you to be able to do something like this without giving up Brayden Schenn?

LOMBARDI: “Well, that was a non-starter. In terms of us ever considering a player of Schenn’s category, we never had to agonize over whether we were going to do something.
Little Schenn was NEVER going anywhere.

Lombardi told reporters this regarding Schenn, relayed by Yahoo! Sports' Nick Cotsonika:

It would have to be really something significant. The way his stock has risen here with the world junior and what he's done, it would have to be really special, and quite frankly, I don't think he's going anywhere.

@ Edmonton

Who said he's struggling?

Steve Tambellini in response to the Edmonton Sun's Terry Jones asking a question about Colten Teubert's struggles in the AHL. Jones then informed Tambellini that Teubert has been a healthy scratch for the Manchester Monarchs. Tambellini was stunned.

How's that trade look now, Steve?

^ D-men take longer to develop and depending on their rebuild strategy, you can never have enough D-men in the pipeline.

I'm more surprised about the 1st and 2nd picks to go along with the guy. Penner may lose himself in LA. Or, maybe not...Still think he'll do okay...

A friend of mine lived across him...and yeah, the guy was a non-stop party animal. Surprised he even slept. And @ some of the stories I heard...

Please.....nobody "parties" in Edmonton.
Edmonton is like living on the moon.....not too much partying going on on the lunarscape either.

Next you are gonna try to tell me he is the 2nd coming of Charlie Sheen

Penner was looking good in Anaheim. I'm sure he'll be glad to be back in the year round sunshine of LA.

As far as D men go we have plenty....no worries here.
Teubert will be an NHL player...maybe in another year.

Um...wow. Nice game played by Toews esp. setting up the SHG to seal the win tonight. Something like 23 points in the last 14 games...?

Yeah, I think he's willing Chicago into the playoffs.

Whatever you want to call them...I guess throwing out blondes out of the house at 3AM and hearing them screaming at him out in the street is not partying.

I'm not...I did state that I think Penner should be much better in LA than in Edmonton...

Just thought there were some caveats given the price the Kings paid.

I'm starting to come around to Burke. Sure he's made some mistakes, but he seems willing to fix his own mistakes. (Versteeg, Beauchemin) The Leafs are the NHL's youngest team and now have at least some decent prospects. If they don't make the playoffs this year, they make it next. The future is at least somewhat promising. Something it hasn't been for at least 6 or 7 years.

Now, if he would only fix making Phaenuf the captain.

Nope, only because Richards won't come. Why come to a re-building process at his age?

But he will try and make a splash for another, younger centre.

Is Toews available? Since the Hawks aren't going to make the playoffs maybe they'll clean house?

Okay...well, just wanted to make sure Burke was not smoking bad weed again.

And well, since "the speech" by Toews against the Blues recently, Chicago has been on a tear and playing a lot more like they were last season. Both you and Waldorf's doubts of Chicago not making the Top 8 may be in jeopardy...

Don't really care for them, but, I think the Oilers are in good shape in the next year or so...

A bit more size up front would be nice for them, though...

I seriously doubt the make it this year. But they'll make it next year.... I think.

BTW - I pretty sure I was optimistic towards the end of last year as well. How'd that work out.

Besides playoff hopes... And trading away players he made mistakes on... where are the positives?

All the youth and prospects he's brought in.

Pretty much all of the core is 25 or under. I realize that doesn't guarantee success but its a start. We don't know what we're getting with youth, IMO that's an improvement after years and years of NHL retreads wanting to retire closer to home.

Let the kids play...I've been saying that for years.

IMHO. Burke F'd up.. Buy players in off season..... sell them trade deadline.. I honestly don't know what his plan is? He passed up how many picks this year because he wouldn't trade anymore. Prolly more for the fans since there's some hope all a sudden..

It was one guy, but at least he didn't sit there and do nothing. Then again was Versteeg really a mistake?

I honestly don't know what his plan is?
Because he's now on plan C

Not sure what you mean? When did he pass up trades? Who was left to give at the deadline? All the oldies have contracts nobody wants. (Komo, Giguere)

Seems like he's only playing catch up for last years mistakes.. What about Kessel mistake? Seems like a lot of ground to make up. Pens, Hawks and Kings didn't get to where they are by having mediocre years. We all put up with 5+ years of sucking and selling off veterans at the trade deadline.

He'll never trade Kessel, that's one mistake he'll NEVER own up to so it not even worth discussing.

Again, their the youngest team in the league. They have no veterans left to get rid of. In 2.5 years he's removed every player on the previous GM's roster save 1.

Don't pretend I'm suggesting Burke is a genius and will be leading the team to the Cup. He's made too many mistakes, some that can't be fixed. All I am suggesting is that I like what where they are RIGHT NOW. Not last week or month and not next year. I like what I see today, that's it.

I guess I don't know the exact salaries. But I see players like Lupul, Komisarek, Grbovski, Giggy, Armstrong he could've traded.
