It's official - new coach is Peter Laviolette. Losing 6 out of the last 7 did Stevens in. Hopefully this will shake up the troops and get them back on the right track.

Nice! I might have to tape the game. I can't watch it live. We got a new Central Hockey League team in Kansas City this year (Double A League) called the Missouri Mavericks.

I'm the PA/Stadium Announcer for the team and we've got a 7 PM Central game tonight.

Seriously. I thought it was last year. Having all the legends take the pre-game skate was a nice touch though.

Nice series of saves by Niemi...and looks like Hossa is Public Enemy #1.

Gotta love the pace so far. Lots of hitting and these two teams are playing like they've been rivals forever...

Go Hawks!

Not much shaking, Caps are up 6-1 with 8 minutes left in the 2nd.

I'll take the point for that game, the Pens had Niemi standing on his head the whole game, at least he didn't get the shutout, great game.

I'm not giving the Cup to the Hawks at all...but, that being said, let's see if your Pink Things even make the playoffs.

touche.

I like our chances of extending the most glorious post-season run of any professional team in the major sports. We're battered and bruised but not out. Tell ya what, if you are really, really nice -- I'll invite you to a suite this post-season - in Chicago!

So far, not bad for Niemi. Keep it up and maybe Chicago does have their own version of Minny's Backstrom.

After watching the Hawks/Penguins game as well as the Hawks/Sharks game, you've got to think that Chicago has an excellent chance to win it all. I know it's early in the season, but hopefully, they will continue to improve.

Cost his team a nine minute power play, three goals and a loss. As well as a four game suspension ($43,597.56). There's no room for these types of players in the NHL today.

Dirty...? I still give the trophies to Matt Cooke, Ryan Kesler, and Steve Ott.

At least Carcillo will fight instead of turtling.

I dunno yet. The team still needs to learn how to take on the hard-trapping teams better (i.e. Kings, Ducks, Canucks, Preds, Wings). Too often, they still try to pass their way through the clogged neutral zone which almost never works.

The team needs to learn to win ugly games too...

Thank Cooke for that one. He started it with the flying elbow...
Keith got him back with the same check later a play later...aw, sorry. At least DK was penalized. Cooke got away with it.

Keith is not a dirty player. If you think so, I think you're the only one on the planet...and I attribute that to bitterness to the loss.

Hawks' supposed "dirty" players are Eager, Fraser, and Burish.
But, neither of the 3 trench guys are nearly as bad as Ott, Avery, COOKE, or Kesler...

@ 97Ackack thinking Duncan Keith is "dirty"...

Cooke comes in with a forearm into his head a play before...and Keith just responds back that he can't be pushed over.

And oh, later ON in the evening, Cooke sucker punches him. Keith didn't respond back...

Keith dirty...

Oh oh...one more for you, Ackalacka...

How did you like the CLEAN play by Malkin where he tries to drive Fraser's head through the ice with a crosscheck while the latter was flat on the ice?

Dirty? Really...? You want to go there...? I guess I was watching a different Pittsburgh-Chicago game. Must've watched one of those TSN hockey replays...Except, I didn't see a Jagr or Lemieux playing. No Belfour, Chelios, either...

Weird.

Did you watch any of the stuff that led up to Malkin pushing Fraser down? Apparently not. And not once did I bring up Keith's dirty hit, I brought up him jumping in post-whistle every time after the whistle was blown, but it wasn't Keith I was referring to, it was Seabrooke, he's the one always in AFTER the whistles not Keith, I put the wrong name, because I was thinking of that hit on Cooke, but didn't even mention it.

But believe me I'm not sore about an OT loss, I was happy the pens got a point with the way Niemi was playing see post# 20416

Hockey 101 for centers: If you lose a draw against the other player, the best thing you can do is tie him up. There was nothing that Fraser was doing that was "dirty" (i.e. crosschecking, facewashing)...he was tying up Malkin. Simple.

And yes, I watched the entire game in Glorious HD from start to finish.

Seabs would be in there getting dirty...But, if Guerin et al are crowding the crease, what exactly do you want him to do? Hang around in the back like what the overpaid Campbell does when he's on the ice...?

And again, I am absolutely stunned you think Seabrook is "dirty". Getting your hands dirty in a scrum in the goalie crease is not dirty...Not once in the game did I see Seabrook hit too low, crosscheck, or pull the shit that Ott, Kesler, et al do regularly...

Give me a break.

Wow, I really touched a nerve saying hawks players were dirty lol, I love yanking your chain about the hawks yummy

The hit by Keith was dirty, hands down, retaliation or not, and I didn't bring it up, you did, I mentioned Keith's name in error. In the same game, cooke had a guy lined up and backed off because he saw the numbers, not saying cooke's hit that he was suspended for wasn't dirty, because I didn't say that. I'm just saying Keith's hit was dirty and I hope the NHL deals with it like they dealt with Cooke after the Rangers game, but they won't.

Tying up a center is hockey 101, he didn't just tie him up, he was anally raping him, you should expect a shoove after leghumping someone like that.

I don't think Seabrooke is a dirty player by your definition of making ovechkin(for wstevens) like hits, but I've never seen a guy jump in after the whistle trying to start shit every time like I saw with Seabrooke. Don't give me the scrum excuse, he's trying to start shit and instigate after every whistle, that's just dirty if you ask me. Just skate away, stop trying to start fights unless you want to fight.

Get me fired up...? Well, kinda like how Bugs Bunny gets you with his sarcasm...?

Except...in your case, I don't see sarcasm other than you-mean-it comments. So, you going to now say that you were making ridiculous comments in jest and that I can't take a joke? Well, you sure don't sound like it most of the time...and what? I can't post something to defend the team I've rooted for all my life in and in some success...?

Notice I don't get this way with dom or wstevens...?

And so, to go with your argument...you start it off by naming the wrong player. So, of course, I'm going to jump all over you. Here, let me use your excuse then: "BOY, that Jordan Staal is a dirty player!!!"

Posts by people result.

And now, I go: "Oh oops...I'm sorry, I meant, MATT COOKE." Sorry, how the heck am I supposed to know? So, what's your point? You brought up KEITH...so, I naturally will talk about Cooke's cheepshots and what Keith was doing to protect himself if there was a non-call by the refs. WELCOME TO HOCKEY.

So, sorry for not being psychic. I'll try to know next time that if you're laughing at Kane, you really mean it is Toews. And if it's Hossa...you're talking about Byfuglien instead. No, it was Huet, not Corey Crawford.

So, now you want to talk about SEABROOK (no 'e', please). I still find your logic off to orbit...sorry. The game was a hard-hitting affair. Your Pens were clearly trying to play their game (duh, Pittsburgh is one of the league leaders in hits). So, Seabrook, IN A SCRUM, tries to draw a penalty by doing an extra shove...not a stick swing, not a sucker punch, not a groin pull, not a ear bite, etc. etc. etc. ( ) and you call HIM dirty...?!?

Okay. Sure. Whatever you say.

The only thing more dirty than the Blackhawks on the ice is BlackHawk management and their continuous attempts to try and circumvent the cap off of it.

BTW - Who won that Hawk -Pen game anyway?

I sometimes forget there are other teams in the league.

Well, how else were they going to keep the Big 3 after Tallon's overpayment of Soupy and Huet...and then the RFA fiasco from the summer?

Are you sore about Dirty Seabrook, I mean, Keith's contract @ a bazillion years...? Well, apparently, Bowman et al made many trips over to the League Offices to make sure there was no wrong-doing on any of the contracts signed (to prevent a post-signing investigation a la Hossa and Prongers).

Hawks won. 2-1 in OT.

But, dayum...were the Hawks dirty. They took out kneecaps galore. And you should've seen Keith...ER, I mean, Seabrook. He made Steve Ott look like Mother Teresa.
