Here's hoping the NHL wins today's legal battle. I think Hamilton is a horrible place for a hockey team. Winnipeg and the Toronto area are far better options.

The league shuts down for 2 weeks or whatever it is. As for players I don't see why they wouldn't all be eligible. But Teams are usually set well before the games.

Kitchener/Waterloo wouldn't be a bad area either, less that an hour from London/Toronto/Hamilton, that's a pretty huge population base to draw audience from IMO.

Winnipeg doesn't have an arena that is NHL-ready as far as I know...I think that's the crux of the problem. There also isn't enough corporate boxes/sponsorship there and so, we'd just be recreating the problems met when the Jets were there, no...?

Still better than Hamilton. Who faces the same problems. The arena needs 150 mil in updates and Ballsillie wants taxpayers to foot the bill. No thanks.

Still not a good enough reason to have to go to Hamilton.

I'd say sorry but I don't think there are any Hamiltonians in here.

Refs didn't help them much either, they missed 3 high sticks and a tripping.

Hmm the Wings look very strong. Maybe even better than last year. I still think the Pens will pull out a win if it's Pens/Wings, however, I think it will be very, very close.

...which is great for us hockey fans.

I haven't given up hope yet for the Hawks...and in these playoffs, they have shown again and again they have the ability to bounce back.

I've had an evening to sleep off what I saw in Game 2 but I'll say this: Detroit didn't dominate the game. Chicago carried the play for most of the game and if it were not for a freaking bone-headed play by Campbell in OT (hockey 101: dump-in the puck or toss it across like that in OVERTIME?!??), it could be 1-1 now. But, hey...that's how it goes sometimes.

That being said, I also am noticing that the Hawks are taking the physical play to the Wings. The longer the series plays out, the more I think it will play to the Kids' favor.

And yeah, I still believe.

I wouldn't count them out either, especially now that wstevens is complementing the wings.

In reality though it was a close game and the hawks played all 60 min well, the wings just had the puck bouncing there way this time.

And calls too. But, no point lamenting it...the key is how Chicago responds for Game 3 and if they win, the rest of the series.

I hope it goes to 7.

I'm with you Yummy. The Blackhawks played well-they just needed a break in overtime. But they played so much in the Red Wings zone-Khabby did a fantastic job too. The Hawks really finished checks in Game 2 as well. But now we go back to Chicago-let's see how things go in the Windy City.

Post Gretzky Out as Coach if Reinsdorf's Bid is Approved...

From TSN...

According to a report in the Toronto Sun, Wayne Gretzky could be out as the Phoenix Coyotes' head coach should Chicago Bulls and White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf win the bid to acquire the NHL team.

The Sun is reporting that a condition of Reinsdorf's offer to purchase the cash-strapped club is to end Gretzky's tenure with the Coyotes.

The NHL's all-time leading scorer is set to earn $6.5 million for the upcoming season and $8 million for the 2010-11 season. According to the paper, Reinsdorf has no interest in paying a coach more than five-times the league average.

Gretzky's salary was in part to coach the team, as well as secure his ownership stake in the Coyotes franchise.

While the conditions of Reinsdorf's offer have yet to be revealed, his offer is expected to be significantly smaller than Research In Motion CEO Jim Balsillie's offer of $212.5 million to purchase the team and move them to Hamilton.

Reports last week stated that Gretzky was backing Reinsdorf's bid, but the sports magnate has yet to meet with the Hall of Famer to discuss the situation.

The Coyotes have struggled with Gretzky behind the bench and have yet to reach the postseason in his four years as head coach.
