So, just wondering about the incoming trade: is it just me or is 5 Holes giving up lots? I don't care...but, that's 2 primetime scorers who'll notch 40ish goals.
chips and smokes, lets go
^ Not really if you consider the weight put on goalie stats for the overall score. Its not all about offense. Look at my team. I have the highest scoring team so far and I'm in 2nd last. I only have one good goalie.

goaltending is very heavily weighted, I wish I had a better back up goalie.

He seems to still have some decent offense to stay competitive.. I did try this year and added "saves" as a category so that way the Top goalies wouldn't be as valuable.. It's tough to balance things..
From what I understand he put the same offer out there for all top goalies hoping someone would bite.

The NHL's 30 general managers met in Chicago on Thursday and left with some homework. They've got to chew on three rule change recommendations before reconvening at their next meeting in March and possibly voting on them.
• The first is the Larry Pleau idea that I first detailed last weekend, essentially changing the delayed penalty rule to the penalized team having to fully clear the puck from their defensive zone to get a stoppage in play, as opposed to simply having puck possession. The St. Louis Blues GM believes, and he's probably right, it would create more offensive chances with the sixth attacker on the ice for a bit longer before a whistle goes. I like this one.
• The second has to do with hand passes and making them more consistent all over the ice. Right now, players are allowed hand passes in the defensive zone, but nowhere else. The idea being discussed is to not allow it anymore in the defensive zone, just like the rest of the ice. Personally, I highly doubt this will happen. Blowing the whistle every time there's a hand pass in the defensive zone would simply create more stoppages in play. Not what we're looking for in the game right now.
• The third, and perhaps more interesting of all, is an idea from Montreal Canadiens GM Bob Gainey. He proposes that players in the defensive zone have to have at least one skate on the ice when blocking shots. So, instead of having players collapse all over the ice an sliding all over the place, Gainey believes this would allow for more pucks to get through from the point and, hence, create more scoring chances. Great idea by Gainey, although it really puts the onus on the referees. ESPN

1. I think possession should be more tightly enforced. With this new rule what would happen if a team could go to a 5 v 3 and want the other team to ice it??
2. I'm fine with hand passes in the defensive zone.
3. Just dumb I think, besides sliding takes the player out of the play

What do you guys think?

1. I like it..
1answer- I think a good way to control it would be the defenses zone. If they get puck possession outside of their blue line or clear it from the zone the whistle should blow. And if you want a whistle for 5 on 3 just have to put the puck on net.
2. I don't like it for the simple reason of broken sticks and how fragile they are these days.. A defensmen should be allowed to push the puck up the ice.
3. Just iodiotic. Can't believe it was even mentioned as a candidate.. I hope all canadians aren't this dumb..

1. I like it.
2. Players should IMO NEVER be able to touch the puck with their hands. Use your skates if you need to move the puck.

You want to start calling handballs? and the players to start using their feet? This isn't soccer you know..
But in all seriousness I guess I'm more focused on when the players don't have a stick. Without a stick I say use all means necessary otherwise I agree with you on that.

What's the rule on goalie starts again? 3 total per week? Is that tracked anywhere, other than by looking at everyone's daily lineups? I've already started each of my goalies twice this week, so can I just bench them the rest of the week (if that is my strategy).

You got it..
edit - but you can go into yours or anyones roster and look for the minimum goalie starts link found below..

I'm ok with a player catching the puck and dropping it to his stick.
I'm not ok with a player using their hands to get the puck to another player. If a player loses his stick he should not be able to move it in any way shape or form with his hands, unless he drops it to his skates. If he's lying down on the ice, he should not be able to shuffle it to a teammate.
Although I'm not quite sure why we're even discussing this. I think the NHL has much bigger problems then hand passes.

Jonsei, do the Pens have any Cap space? Sundin would be a nice fit.
The sizzle in the Steak
1. I'm cool with it
2. Nope
3. Are they out of their minds?!?!?!
...but I'm with dom....the game has more bigger issues...

He basically shot himself in the foot.. Plus who would want a guy who isn't willing to be traded if things go south and get something back for the money?
Looks to be Vancouver or Toronto or bust.. Although I'd like to see him in Phoenix.

That's what I heard on the radio this morning about the Leafs. Fletcher yet again welcomed him back with open arms but apparently they will not offer a no trade, which he wants.
He'll likely want 4-5 mill. So after looking at that list, his only option is Toronto.
If I'm him, I take 500k for the remainder of the season and play for one of Det, Pitt or the Rangers.

Not if he's willing to play for 500k

Vancouver is not in the mix? They saved cap space for him didn't they?
Fvck that no trade clause shit.. He's a idiot.. and after what he did last year to the Leafs I have no respect for him anymore..
During the Pens rebuilding years we had guys like Recchi, Leclair and several others that were willing to be traded so the Pens would get something then come right back the next year..
If Sundin actually gave a shit about Toronto he'd be willing to help them not fvck them..

I don't think he wants to play out West. Which I think is why Vancouver is out.

He's an idiot, he should have went to montreal while the offer was still on the table, or shitburg as those teams both have incredible talent and a shot at the cup IMO. Sundin's an indecisive fucktard and I hope the leafs to let him back.
