I always see this thread but can never participate. I've been to a handful of Sharks games the past 4-5 years or so but never get any channels that have their games, or can't find them. I'd agree that hockey is VERY exciting to watch in person, moreso than football, basketball, or baseball (ranked in order of excitement IMO, most to least). I still remember my first Sharks game.... I wasn't expecting much, considering I never really was interested in hockey too much in the first place. Was I in for a surprise! It seems much faster in person, and thanks to my cousin explaining some things to me, I actually understood the game and became interested in it. Also you're much closer to the rink even in the cheap seats than you are at the nicer seats at say a basketball or football game.

I would probably say that I've been to more Sharks games in person than I have seen on TV, but that may soon change because at my new workplace they have Sharks games in the break room

So I hope no one confuses me for a bandwagon fan. oh and this post needs to end with the obligatory

GO SHARKS!

The Sharks played a good game #1. Their Power Play and their inability to move the puck out of their own end is where the issue is.

They kept up with the Stars physicality and had great chances. Let's hope they adjust appropriately for tomorrows game (hopefully will be there in person).

GO SHARKS!!!

Avs had no chance to start vs the Wings. And Franzen is far from a no namer. Wings look very solid so far, going to be hard to beat them.

Anyone see that pass from Zubov on Modano's goal last night? Good Lord.

That, my friends, is the definition of "a dandy".

Very impressive...couldn't have been any harder of a pass coming off the backhand side, tape to tape at that. Something that definitely comes from playing with a teammate for 12+ years.

goalie makes 98 saves ... and still gets beat

Ryan Potulny scored at 2:58 of the fifth overtime to give the Philadelphia Phantoms a 3-2 victory over the Albany River Rats early Friday in the longest game in American Hockey League’s 72-year history.

Michael Leighton made 98 saves for the River Rats, and Michael Teslak stopped 65 shots for the Phantoms.

Philadelphia’s Jared Ross tied it at 2 at 15:13 of the third period with his second goal of the game. Kiel McLeod scored twice in regulation for Albany.

So how many games should Hatcher get?

I'm thinking 3. I'm also thinking he'll get nada.

IMO a hit from behind should be an automatic 3 to 5 games. It doesn't get anymore dangerous.

I don't recall but I don't even think Hatcher left his feet. I agree it was a late hit but his 5 min major for boarding and game misconduct was sufficient. If anyone should be suspended it should be Avery for the damn slash w/ intent to injure Crosby on sunday....That was was just a dirty play and the league should make an example that this will not be tollerated. Whether it's avery commiting a 2-handed slash or someone stomping on a leg the league needs to handle it's business. I'd be happy with a 1-2 game suspension for #16.

A hit from behind is a hit from behind IMO. It shouldn't matter if he left his feet. If the league put in automatic suspensions they could avoid a lot of this BS.

Didn't see or hear about Avery's slash but he should be suspended well, just for being Avery.

my only comment about the avery/crosby thing is that i would put money on it that crosby did something to avery that wasn't shown.

i've never seen a player that is considered so "strong" and "powerful" and "low center of gravity" go sprawling on the ice as much as sidney crosby. he goes down very easily.

Thats been the talk up here the last few days. Crosby is either a whiner or a diver and other players are beginning to call him on it.

i think he is a bit of both to be honest (there is plenty of supporting youtube video), but i also think he is still just an NHL infant. as he grows up hopefully he will learn to control his body and strength more. i think his injury this season could have been limited or even avoided if he just controlled himself after he fell down.

There's been talk about it since his first year in the NHL, and if I'm not mistaken there was talk about it when he was a junior as well.

He gets strongarmed and thrown to the ground although it may have been the whole "freehand".. Sid straight out gets overpowered and goes down. They call I believe it was that the Dman took his hands off stick to interfere.

But everyone says he "dove" wtf. Even Jagr got in his face. Crosby got beat and laid out hands down. He can't win either way. Not only did he get his ass handed to him with one hand but he also gets called a "diver" all in the same play.

Well, the Sharks season is practically over now.

I hope they fire Coach Wilson - he does not know how to inspire a team. Also, get rid of McClaren, Ehrhoff, and Goc - they are worthless.

hehe. Ron Wilson got the Caps all the way to the finals...then "inspired" them to get swept in humiliating fashion.

The Sharks need more defense men as their forwards end up spending most of their time near their own damn blue line. For some reason, the Sharks can't get the puck out of their zone for the life of them.
