I can only hope the Habs meet the Pens in the semi's. That would be one hell of a series.

I was flipping back and forth between the Ducks/Stars & Sharks/Flames series. I found the later series to be more fun to watch.

So far, the series that looks promising (as in it could be a long series) are:
Rangers/Devils
Colorado/Minnesota (one of the better games I've watched)
Sharks/Flames

The rest of the series lack something to be desired...as in the other team didn't show up. But that could all change by game 2.

Don Brennan Talking To Laraque After Brennan Challeneged Laraque To Call Him Stupid

This after Brennan calls out to the Sens to go after the Pens stars, especially, Crosby's ankle.

"I'm a lefty," Georges said. "I'll fight you with my left hand tied behind my back."

Me: "Tie your right hand behind your back, too."

Him: "Okay."

Somebody else: "He can still headbutt you."

Him: "I can headbutt."

Me: "I'm not going to fight you with your hands tied behind your back because I still wouldn't be able to reach your face."

Him: "I'll get down on my knees."

Me: "You'll fight me on your knees with your hands tied behind your back?"

Him: "Yes. We'll have a cage match. It'll be a great event."

Me: "I just don't know. I really don't want to get in trouble. I don't want to lose my job. I don't want to hurt you."

Him: "I'll sign a waiver."

Typical Ovechkin...what a goal! Mike Green impresses me more every time I see him play...what a career he is going to have.

Just got tickets to the B's - 'Habs game Sunday night...hopefully Bergeron comes back

Thank God that The Best Player in the World was clutch at the end of the game. The Caps really dug themselves in the second period.

That's like mistaking a prefect cross-breed of Gretzky/Lemieux/Howe/Richard/Bure/Bossy/Trottier/Sittler/Salming/Messier/Kurri/Yzerman for Sergei Samsonov.

I dunno, I thought the ChiHawks did a nice job of shutting him down in their matchup...and Toews and Kane starred in the game over Chicken.

Perhaps. Perhaps. We'll see if Toews is the second coming of Christ that everyone is making him out to be. He better start breaking the 50-goal mark next season.

What a bunch of crap the officiating was with the Bruins game last night...non-stop calls on the B's while anything the 'Habs did the refs didn't see. Pretty much everything was let go in the Preds-Wings game seeing as it is playoff hockey, but in Montreal they call a penalty in OT when somebody trips on a stick.

Going to the game tonight in Boston...they'll play well

Someone should tee off on Avery's head.

Far and away the biggest piece of scum the NHL has ever had the displeasure of seeing.

Unbelievable.

I'm a big follower of the AHL ( Just a quick history lesson - I used to live in Virginia and follow the Admirals which up until this year was farm team of the blackhawks) I used to live to hate avery when he would come into our barn, but over the years i've grown to love his style of "play" and irritating style. He is one of those players everyone would love to have on their squad. Since graduating to the nhl he has become more of an offensive threat. I remeber not so long ago when the chants of "Avery Sucks" would echo throughout our barn. That being said, I wouldn't be against someone laying him out with a nice illegal cross-check!

you love to hate him. of course he is annoying, but he can play the game well and score goals. he is the guy everyone hates but everyone also wouldn't mind on their team.

plus you guys need to understand him and brodeur have a history together. he is going to pester marty more than anyone else any chance he gets.

There is NO EXCUSE for that shit he pulled yesterday. I don't care what he and Brodeur had going on.

Call is unsportsmanlike, call it dis-honorable. That has never happened before and the NHL will make sure it will never happen again.

what can the NHL do about it? i admit it was grade school type behavior, but he really didn't break any rules. he never touched brodeur... marty punched him in the face with his glove. their both responsible for poor behavior.

10 min misconduct. A few broadcasters were talking it last night and this morning. There is a vague rule in place than will prevent this. And Bettman has already been quoted as saying they'll do something about it happening again. Hell, even Drury, his own team mate went over and said something to him as he was doing it. I doubt it was "keep up the good work"

@ both are responsible. The goalie always hits the guy standing in front of him. That is part of the game. Only difference is, the goalie is usually hitting the players in the back.

a vague rule at best? honestly if this creates such buzz it's pretty sad, because i'm more concerned with the safety of players (hits from behind / stomping on guys) than some guy waving his arms in front of a goalie. people just hate avery and will bite at every chance they get to punish him. i guarantee you anything bettman throws at him will be appealed. it will be VERY hard to sell a suspension for something like that.

Never said Bettman will attempt to suspend for what already happened. He'll make sure the refs call it the next time it does.

And good luck finding a player, coach or GM that will disagree with that ref when or if he makes that call.

How is it sad that this is such a big deal? You don't see a problem with it? Sure stomping on guys is worse and is an suspendable of offense. I don't think that what Avery did should warrant a suspension, but its certainly worth 2 or 10 minutes.

2 minutes at best, i think the worst part about it is that it brings the level of professionalism down and kind of disrespectful to the game. but i still stand by technically speaking that he never broke a rule. you are allowed to screen and get crosschecked/punched by defense men which essentially creates the same effect. even if i wasn't a NYR fan or this happened on a totally different team, i would still say technically it's not a punishable offense. i doubt he will do it again though, he knows their watching.

that's not hard to do... i'm sure plenty of the devils reminded him as well. when callahan crashed the net and nearly took off marty's head, they all went after avery. haha. either way i'm glad avery is on the rangers, it's hard to deny that he is effective when in the lineup.

I think the fact there wasn't another 5 on 3 was why he didn't do it again. I hate to say it but it might of helped the Devils considering it now became 4 on 3 instead. He more or less took himself out of the play but of course he thought he took Broduer out also.

^ hmmm. Wasn't he on CBC last night saying the opposite? I remember him acknowledging the possibility but then he said that it was very unlikely. He said that Alfredson is still injured and its not a concussion.

Yup...

But today...

Ottawa may also be getting a bit of a surprise boost as general manager and head coach Bryan Murray isn't ruling out a return ofDaniel Alfredsson to the lineup.

"We're going to talk again this afternoon and see where we go with him," Murray told reporters Monday. "I'm not shutting the door on it. He's the boss. If he feels he can play then he's in."

The Sens captain was injured in the second last game of the season after being blindsided by Maple Leafs' forward Mark Bell. Alfredsson skated for the first time by himself on Sunday.

Mark Bell is on the leafs? I've been wondering where he was playing. I knew him when he was down in norfolk. He is a bit overrated in my opinion but still has some time to blossom!

I personally hope Alfredsson makes a comeback! I'd love to see how the pens handle that along with the tenacious crowd at scotia bank pl. Everyone is talking about the Rangers/Devils series but if the flyers pull off the series against the caps. You want to talk about a hard fought series. The flyers and Pens would kill one another whoever survives that series will be toast. Well can't be thinking too far in advance. Pens need to pick up the W tonight and not give any life to the sens!
