The revolving door that is LA Kings goaltending...

The Kings tied the NHL record for goaltenders used in one season (seven) when Daniel Taylor made his NHL debut by replacing fellow rookie Erik Ersberg to begin the third period of L.A.'s game against the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon. (The other goaltenders to play for Los Angeles this season are Jason LaBarbera, Jean-Sebastien Aubin, Dan Cloutier, Jonathan Bernier and Jonathan Quick.) The Kings tied the record set by the Quebec Nordiques in 1989-90 and matched by the St. Louis Blues in 2002-03.

Praying that Ottawa doesn't make the playoffs.

seriously... maybe if we get a petition signed and submit it to the NHL. you never know what they might do anymore. Think of the fan attraction, "Hey, who are the Philadelphia Fawkin Goons?" "I don't know but that sounds kickass!"

The important thing is that the Flyers miss the playoffs. I think the hockey community, at large, can agree on that.

And the first team since '90-'91 to beat Detroit five times in a season is...

This year's Chicago Blackhawks!

Now let's just hope that come Sunday the Wings continue their recent tradition of backing into the playoffs.

Always have and always will hate the Flyers. They're the Pens biggest rival and the games are intense. Last game of the year is against them and I'm afraid if they're out of the playoffs they might hurt someone.

like it matters if they are in or out of the playoffs in order to hurt someone.

Well if they are in then they could very well be matched up against the Pens in the 1st round. So they will have to pay for anything dumb they do in the last game of the regular season.

that's true, but tell sid and malkin to watch their backs. at least the pens have rutuu and laraque to keep some of the flyers in line. i just don't know if they have enough toughness for the western conf.

Not only is Ovechkin currently the best professional athlete in the world, but he is also the best hockey player since Mario Lemieux - who, by the way, was better than Gretzky.

edit: For real hockey fans, Ovechkin is the face of hockey. For everyone else, there's always Crosby.

i think that's a bit presumptuous about the comparison to lemieux. granted ovechkin is the first to 60+ since, he is still far away from proving that statement. if he can put in a solid 8 seasons with numbers like this than i would have to agree given the game is so different than when lemieux first entered.

Ack...STUPID BLUES!

Anyhow, it was fun while it lasted. Hawks have come a long way from that sorry 71 point effort last year to this version that is lead by a very promising group of youngsters and rookies.

Western Conference, look out next year! RED RISING!

Comparisons between Ovechkin - Crosby - Lemieux or even the great one are unfair. Different eras and the game has drastically changed so I don't think it's fair to compair. I'm obviously a pens fan and so my heart is obviously with Crosby and Lemieux. Ovechkin is one hell of a player and will be for years to come. Both crosby and ovechkin has such a passion for the game that hasn't existed in any player since Lemieux and the Great One laced up the skates themselves. Instead of starting a pissing contest on who is better than the next can't we all just agree that hockey is the best sport in the world and they are all or were phenominal superstars in our sport?

wstevens, you can't really compare vech and crosby this year since crosby spent a third of it on the IR. Not to mention when Crosby went out he was the leading point scorer, for the second year in a row
