Thoughts on Kessel for a 3rd or 4th rounder? Ranger twitterverse is all over the place on the idea.
When he's engaged, he's great, helped us win 2 cups. After that, he tuned out and wouldn't even participate in team practices, just skated around and kept to himself like a child. You're probably better off without him
In the brief time he was in Chicago, I can say MAF was a class-act and an awesome player...sad to see him go but Hawks need to blow this thing up and start over.......

I was surprised to see Flower go to Minny, I know he had a lot of say in where he would or would not go. I'm happy for him, and also glad that he did not go to the Crapitals

He outright refused to waive his NMC for DC.
Given the price for him, I think his list was super short. I know the Leaves and Oilers are beyond desperate for anything in net and the fact he went to Minny indicates he refused to go to those teams too.
Yeah I definitely love that he chose where he wanted to go, and where he didn't want to go. That's Fleury for ya
The Wild will get a huge boost from him esp. given their depth this year...Hawks just are not good enough and flawed but from how I saw how rapidly the team rallied to him and embraced him, I guess I just never realized how great of a team mate he was.

Crazy he was let go from from the Pens and VGK.
Pens didn't "Let him go" they made a deal with VGK in order to keep him and win the second cup in 17, which Flower agreed to. McPhee made all kind of shady backroom deals and this was just one of them. It was predetermined that Fleury would go to Vegas long before the expansion draft, but it allowed us to keep the team together and win back to back so in the end it was worth it. Hated seeing Fleury leave, but his cap hit was too much and we had Murray who was younger and cheaper who helped us win the 2 cups, so it was all business in the end. Vegas did him so dirty after he got them to the cup final in their first season, and they brought in Lehner and basically screwed MAF out of a job.

Well, VGK is now in so much cap hell, they won't dig themselves out for a few decades...
FWIW, a player like MAF should've stayed a Pen for life...like Sid and Malkin. Unless he asks to be traded, of course.
Agreed, sadly he was the expendable one with his cap hit and how tight against the cap we were, honestly we should have dumped Kessel and kept Fleury but that's hindsight for you. Couldn't argue with Matt Murray coming in for cheaper and carrying us to back to back cups, of course his play fell way off after that. I would have much rather kept Fleury than Murray or Kessel, but it is what it is, sadly it's a business before all else
It's held in Boston this year, but all the eastern teams have been eliminated. The last one was Quinnipiac, who lost to Michigan 7-4 in a wild shootout.
Well, Cabby's Rangers showed up for that game and the Penguins did not on Friday. But then the Pens go out and score 11 goals last night against the Dead Wings
At least they rebounded from the show that was Friday night
What are these playoffs of which you speak? It's been soooooo loooong....
Though...I do hate to break it to you...it may be short-ish for your squad...even thought they are good.
The top 3...are the Panthers, Bolts, and Canes. Bruins and Pens are a notch below that IMO along with your squad but their inexperience may be a handicap...
The West is easy...good luck against the Nordiques.
It's why if your team is not competitive, it's actually not a terrible thing.
No stress.
Well, anything can happen in the playoffs. But, on paper, man those 4 teams I listed as the juggernauts are well, scary. The East is going to be epic...

2014 proved that. The Kings squeaked into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season
The last 1:30 last night was enough stress for me!
I'm embarrassed that we have not been in the lead, have allowed two PPGs and are being outplayed by a team that has allowed north of 4 goals a game lately (including an 11 goal bitch slapping)
I also need to say I hate ESPN's deal. It is always a hassle finding the games on + and not being able to stream when the games are on NHLTV or TNT sucks. The picture quality through my cable box sucks compared to the internal TV app.
2 disappointing losses to the Avs for the Pens, they're the best team in the league and are scary good, but the Pens just don't appear to be able to hang with their forecheck and scoring. They really look like the team to beat this year

I watched parts of the games...
The issue there was the Nordiques' speed...holy hell are they fast. Fast AND skilled...4 lines of thunder too. The West goes through Denver. The East goes through Tampa, Miami, or Raleigh...Your Pens may do okay cuz you know, playoffs just sometimes happen...but, on paper...it's a 4-horse race at the moment.
Yeah, the Pens looked strong all year, now they are looking shaky. I can hope that they're just biding time till the playoffs, but if they play like they've looked the last couple weeks it will be another first round exit for my Pens, time will tell I guess

The team up-front is fine though, I am unsure if your 4th line is as strong as the top 4s'. It's the blueline (again, on paper) that I think where the superteams stand out. Let's assume goaler is a wash because honestly, if Moog was here, I'd point out that the name-brand thing in net sure doesn't really exist for the superteams.
