So @Yumcha , after thoroughly spanking yer ass on the ice yesterday.. What did you think of the game?
My thoughts:
1. Our backup goalie won that game for us, hands down
2. Kane didn't look 100%... at all.
3. Alex Chiasson for Edmonton... Where did this guy come from!? 5 goals in 7 games so far.
4. Dat elbow to Nurse's face by Davidson.
5. Did I mention our $2.5M unproven backup goalie?

Koskinen was good when he needed to be (hory shet, he's like, Taco-sized -- he's YUGE)...BUT, Hawks didn't do themselves many favors as they were not around rebounds and there was not too many screens. In games like this, too many of the shots were from the perimeter and well, chances are, an NHL-class goalie can stop those all day.
But, the turning point was stopping Captain Serious when he was on the PK on that breakaway...After that, the wheels fell off. The better scoring chances did go to Edmonton.
On Kane, you are 10000% correct, he was a scratch in Vancity due to the flu and I suspect he's still under the weather. He lacked his usual jump as games against a stud like McDavid are games he does typically wake up for (i.e. against Auston).
Hawks miss Hossa like crazy. The lack of scoring depth is showing and when your 2nd-line C (Schmaltz) is scratched due to play, well, there's a problem. The gutting of their talent from the Cup wins is sad but a reality of this era...
And lastly, I have to comment on McDavid, he is...breath-taking to watch. Geebus...it may not be popular with the regulars in here but he is the best player on the planet now. Period.

It was refreshing to see everyone else get a goal yesterday. Some guy named Jason Garrison scored... I was like... Who is this guy? Where did he come from?

Yeah...he is from the Pittsburgh area, right? Wow...
Please do tell more!
He only had 1 shot last night...he's not...quite what he was the 1st two years in Chicago when he was called "Manchild". He did well in Columbus but since coming back to Chicago, he's been a bit off, hey?

Very talented...was almost as good as the best player on our team, who lead the league in every stat possible. But, you think of the difference between a 9th grader and a 12 grader, you could see the potential.
His brother George, who played D1, was on the team...he just came back to help out coaching this year (I'm still coaching at the same school - though with middle school due to work committements). Both were good kids with a good upbringing. Class all the way.
We went undefeated that year...until states, where we got our ass handed to us by a Philly prep school.
He listened, played hard every shift, and loved the game in HS. Assume he carries much of that now. Would love to see him play for the home team.
Brought the cup here in 2015...took it to our rink, school, and neighborhood. Wish nothing but the best for him. Exciting times...
Almost as exciting as when I had the cup presented to myself

I liked Alex Chiasson in Dallas. Is he any good?

They need to be seaching for a goalie...Murray is not the answer. The only thing he's consistent at...is being inconsistent.

I'll see your team's issues (which IMO are not that big) and raise you Chicago's...they are in trouble. Swept out of Western Canada.

Wow. What happened to Chicago today? I left it off at 3-2. I was secretly hoping they’d beat Calgary, so that Edmonton would be above them in the standings.
How does Chicago have that much talent, yet stink so bad? Are they just getting old? Goal tending seems to be a big deficit at the moment also.
Jokiharju looked pretty good also today, from what I watched anyway.

And the pens... jeez... what happened
ah, let’s be honest- every team in the league gets its ass handed to it at least a few times per season. They’ll probably win the next three in a row now

Still too top heavy in some regards and when Keith was tossed out of the game for his accidental hit (rules are rules though), it was pretty much the Hawks dressing 5 d-men with at least 4 of them out of spot in their pairings...and voila, that's a recipe for disaster. You take out a Norris-caliber d-man on any team and the play just drops off the cliff esp. if the depth isn't very good right now. Hawks also have been without another starter, Murphy, for awhile...
Injuries aren't excuses but they are reality for a team that no longer has the luxury of insane depth. Like the Kings, the Hawks need to continue their make-over and hope the pieces align like the Pens.
Unfortunately, this puts my friend Yeo now as the one in jeopardy.

Leafs shut the Pens out on Saturday night, start planning that parade in Toronto... At least according to the Leafs fans who were at the game

We all know that one game definitely defines the entire 82 game season. Cmon, ack. Your team is doomed.

I kindly reminded them it was November
Pens suck arse...Boyle with a HT going into the 3rd. Currently searching for an NBA or NFL thread, cause hockey season is seeming over in DaBurgh.
Also seeing if Toronto needs help with their Stanley Cup parade route committee. Have recent experience...

Kinda sad to see Coach Q go...Without him, there probably aren't 3 Cups as he was able to get that group into a cohesive unit to come out on top.
2nd all-time winningest coach for a reason but he was not without his faults too...part of that was seeing his handling of some of the kids...which I think, he may not be the best candidate for in a re-tooling/re-building squad like the Hawks. I dunno, it's tough to watch him go but coaching in any pro-sport is a temporary thing, right?
Good luck wherever your next stop is, Q...
I would suspect he could be a nice fit in St. Louis or one of either Nashville, Tampa, or Winnipeg to take those teams towards that final step.
