Hockey: News and Discussion Thread
Zetterberg is finished with hockey.
Hated his team but can't take away how good of a player he was. I think Kronwall is the only holdover from that powerhouse era of Detroit that all teams tried to emulate. Hate to say it, but without the Pink Things' ascent, there would be no Hawks' 3 Cups as they pretty much followed that model. Chicago is also possibly fading into oblivion as their core ages. Not sure if Captain Serious can regain his scoring touch or speed...he's lost a step. And Keith is also reaching his end with all the hockey he's played. Hossa and Sharp are obviously done already...Seabrook is on the cusp of being done.

Getting closer. Rangers were good & bad in last nights first game of the preseason. Great effort by Fast to keep the puck in the Devil's zone and for Pionk to get the game winner.

All games but preseason. But my roommate is a sens fan (he's from Ottawa). So now we get all those games. And every other game. Its something like 37 games per week. And I don't overly want to watch the oilers anyway. Fuck those guys
Ooo...he's gonna be a frustrated dude. Sens are going to be contending for the lotto pick. Play like poos for Hughes...
They took my 119.99 like they always do about 10 days ago.
Senators players, coach upset by Zack Smith being on waivers
“It’s a kick in the balls for us.”
That’s how Matt Duchene summed up the Ottawa Senators‘ decision to place Zack Smith on waivers Tuesday.
The Senators are a team in transition and Smith is one of the few proven NHL forwards currently on Ottawa’s
roster, so seeing the 30-year-old get waived came as a surprise to his teammates.
“It’s tough because we love Smitty,” Duchene said. “He’s a great leader. He’s a great player. Unfortunately, I
guess, sometimes in this business things happen that are sometimes beyond hockey reasons and stuff like that.”

Fucking cheap cunt Melnyk is working hard to get there.

The crazy thing is, if you look at Ottawa's protected list for the expansion vs. today, it's staggering how a team that was a playoff squad has been decimated to the second-coming of the Oilers sans McDavid.
Melnyk is trying to use the sens as a profit making machine. Problem is, when the team sucks and no one wants to watch, what do you do to make money again? Start getting rid of players!
I’m sure Melnyk is a great business man. But you can’t run a hockey franchise like any old business. It doesn’t work that way. You need to put up big bucks to attract big names that fans want to see. You don’t have to win a cup, but it certainly helps your attendance if the team is competitive at least.
they also need an arena closer to Ottawa. How this team is still able to go on is beyond me.

They will be good, no doubt. I dunno about cup winners though. I suppose crazier things have happened (like an unknown golden showers team that almost won the cup...)
at least toronto should have a competitive team. Anything beyond that... well... time will tell.

BUT, I thought that way about the Golden Showers...
