Still sore they basically took Teuvo for nothing from Chicago.

Fantasy hockey jerk move by moi: My opponent has Quick this week who just landed on IR today...so, I pick up Campbell despite already having Gibson, Crawford, and Raanta on my roster already.
With the Kings doing their best Oilers impression, I have zero interest to ever start Campbell but it's good to just completely take out one opponent, right?

Pens need to stay in Canada for a while...can we schedule a quick game with Winnipeg? Another shutout, Sid and Geno get 2 each...and 1 by that guy Toronto pays us to keep on our roster.
Lola
Toronto retains Kessel's salary so we can have Kapanen (point per game this season), Andersen and most importantly Auston fucking Matthews.
Hot dog eating, Stanley Cup lifting, Toronto paying - Phil the Thrill
Look, there are only a few trades a decade where people say how the F did that happen...this is one of those. This trade made the Weber for Subban trade look like a small glitch of an issue..
Lola
Sure - okay, justify this any way you want. Toronto can take those guys, Pittsburgh will take this with Toronto paying for (part of) it.

As of now the Leafs are the best team in the east in the standings, hey laugh all you want. I sure slept well last night after another Leafs victory.

Good thing that you aren't a NHL GM. If the Leafs keep Kessel any longer the team would be in the basement like the Oilers for at least another decade.

And it's good to know you slept well last night, beings that you guys have no idea how long your boy is out for. But since he hasn't done crap in the last 4 games, I guess it's really not a big loss.
Realize I'm not a GM, but once you pay Matthews, it will be interesting to see what you guys have left to actually field a team (I'll save my Tavares comments for later...)

First because Toronto played more games? I don't know that I'd be planning out that parade route just yet.

Guess I'm not sipping the Kool-Aid just yet, since Toronto hasn't been anything in my entire lifetime (and I'm not a yute). But, you know what...even the blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Maybe this is your year.

Can we just say that Phil the Thrill leaving Toronnah was a necessary move for the Leaves? He is completely miscast as the centerpiece of a team but as a 3rd fiddle behind Geno and Sid, he's perfect...this is why he's suddenly OMG-great.
It has worked out decently for both teams. What we can chuckle about is how Toronnah bent over more than a few times to Boston to get Phil...and how the Bruins came out laughing with that trade. Completely 1-sided. I think that's a rare Sharelli-win, TBH.

And then this happened
Oilers were in first place in their division for a few hours yesterday, until the sharks won their game. But still.. how did Edmonton get there in the first place? Edmonton has also played less games than everyone else.
I still hate that team. All flukes.

And looks like the Knights have come back down to earth his season. Not surprising.

If that's Edmonton's formula again, okiedokie but I don't think it's going to equate to playoff success.

NHL is a changin', Yumcha.
That, or Edmonton is just getting super lucky and it will eventually catch up to them.
The nice thing is that there have been other guys scoring lately.

Pens with a clean sweep on the 4 game Western Canadia trip! :gheywave:
Nice to see them finally playing some better hockey

I get that this is the new "format". But, it does not apply to playoffs. My case in point was when the Hawks won the Central 2 seasons and had a PILE of points...but, if dig deeper, you'll see the high number of wins they had via shootout and the OT gimmick. So, while their regular season was a rousing success, in the playoffs, Nashville plowed through them.

Yes, true. I don’t disagree with your assessment at all.
I don't expect this to even last for the oilers. Just their 15 seconds of fame for the 2018/2019 season.

I believe they lost 5 games by 2 goals or less - 3 of which were 1 goal games, 2 lost in OT/Shootout. I don't mind Pacioretty - but I'd take Neil over him any day.
Agree 100% though, was a nice road trip. Keep in mind with my trash talking lately, I'm okay to lose the next two to the Islanders...long as we beat Toronto on Nov 3rd.

Shootouts are fun to watch - but really have zero relevance.

Auston out for at least a month. That may mess up the Leaves a bit.

100% agree (wow, twice in 1 post) - Disco Dan was always big about getting the win in a shootout...got the Pens points, made the regular season fun, but always created a struggle in the playoffs. Pretty easy to see that Sullivan does not have the same philosophy, That said, however; Pens still struggle 5-5 compared to other decent teams. Last year, too much emphasis on the PP - seems they're going down the same path again. Special teams are nice, but their never the same come playoffs...

FWIW, plowing through Western Canada is not what it used to be. It's a bit like the Cali run of SJ, LA, and Anaheim...while the Sharks look good, I'm pretty sure the Kings are done and the Ducks are a bubble team...?
BUT, points are points. Good on the Pens. Winnable games are winnable games and padding your points assures no panic come Feb./Mar.
No, no, no...yinz bastards don't get off that easy, Matthews is expendable. 15 games, from now through the end of November, I'm expecting nothing less than 11-3-1
I got I shiny quarter (USD too, none of that loonie - toonie crap) that says the Ducks finish higher than the Sharkies. 2 points down and the Sharkies have a game in hand...so I'm really sticking my neck out here. Honestly think they're a better team*, and when Karlsson goes down like a ton of bricks, who's gonna save them?
* Team, not individual players - cause Sharkies got the individual talent above and beyond.

What are you expecting the stats to be?
For as much as Matthews doesn't matter to the team in the regular season...I'm expecting nothing less than 11-3-1 over the next 4 weeks.
Guess now they need to hit 11-2-1
My thoughts, as long as November 3rd is one of those two...I'm good.

11 wins? Without AM?
Uh.. thats a bit... optimistic.
Tell me, are you part of the torronah Stanley cup route planning committee?

Yes, I'm planning the Stanley Cup route. Same one we took in 2008, 2016, and 2017.

Emotional night last night, moment of silence and ceremonial puck drop before the game. 2 of the officers who were wounded stopping the synagogue shooter did the puck drop with the police chief holding a thin blue line flag behind them.

Either Pens suck...or Islanders are better than anyone thought.
Main part...Toront is 0-2 without Matthews. Tavares, nice find. Maybe someone on that team will learn to score in the first 2 periods.

Islanders do suck, but Trotz knows how to check against us. Hate when the Pens make a mediocre goalie look like a star
