If Washington was smart, they'd scoop him up again- at a fairer rate this time.

At 1.8M, he was still on the lower side. He could likely get 3M somewhere else.

Trotz is a very good coach. He'll get hired somewhere soon...I think maybe the Isles will scoop him up now that Lou is running the show?

Hoffman drama goes to SJ only to get dumped to the Miami Panthers.

Have fun in the swamp, Hoffman!

Trotz to the Isles, I guess they'll go back to the thuggery they exhibited a few years ago...

The Isles ambushed the Pens a few years ago resulting in multiple suspensions and injuries, they're going to go right back to that dirty play under Trotz

Considering Trotz's reputation as a very upstanding, good person...I don't consider his squads to be dirtier than others.

Good for Isles that they got him.

Agree to disagree there, dude. Wasn't worse than other teams and you should know with the Pens' runs and Cup wins that hard-play is a necessity to the Cup.

Hawks had it with Byfuglien, Ladd, Eager...then, Bolland, Bickell, Shaw...etc. They are players that play with an edge and separate opposition from the puck. I GET you hate Tom Wilson and he's moronic when he plays stupid. But, when he's actually being smart, he's very effective.

You're going to have a very difficult time proving it was Trotz who told his guys to go out and mess other players up. I'm glad I'm not the only one here who thinks you're potentially just a wee bit biased since the Caps handed the Penguins their asses this year. Just because Tom Wilson was a jackass on the ice, doesn't at all mean it was Trotz's fault. Maybe it was just Wilson being Wilson. As Yumcha said, Trotz is held in pretty high regard by most everyone.

I think you're still butthurt about having your team finally being beat by its arch nemesis.

The irony is that the Pens had Cooke. Are we going to call Bylsma a dirty coach?

And Malkin is not exactly a saint either. Oh oops. I guess the Pens coaches are all dirty.

There are some coaches I am not a fan of like Alain Vigneault.

Not butt hurt at all, just don't like the style of play that was used against my team or the rest of the way through the playoffs. Yes we had Matt Cooke, but we made him clean up his game and eventually got rid of him. You will never convince me that Tom Wilson is anything but a dirty piece of shit so I'm happy to agree to disagree on that one. Trotz had nothing to lose with his contract expiring, I think he told his team to play more physical and definitely to try and hit players hard or late to try and get them off their game, that to me was evident. Tom Wilson is just a piece of trash who purposefully tries to blindside and injure people and it showed in all 4 rounds. I could care less that they won, I'd rather lose to the eventual winners than some team who got knocked out next round, but like I said I don't respect the dirty play that they used along the way. Did I watch for it a bit closer? Probably, but trust me it was there

All I hear is "I'm butthurt LALALALALALALALA"

I'll wait for any evidence to support your case [regarding trotz].

Oh funny, you were just talking about "facts" in another thread... I'll wait for them to show up here

It makes me sick to even have to pull these up, these are just the main examples, however Oshie throws elbows and leaves his skates every time he hits, so does Ovy. If Trotz wanted to reel in Wilson he would have. Dude almost got suspended in the cup final... All blindside hits to the head, and there were plenty more these were just the ones I knew were on youtube

I said multiple times I'm not butthurt at all, I held the cup and kissed the cup the last 2 years, nothing to be mad about. Just hate the way the Craps played to win it. We'll see if the goonery the Isles had a few years ago comes back

We aren't debating you on Wilson. He's prone to stupid hockey as I already said. BUT, when he's actually keeping it within the rules, he's a pretty effective player because you need that sort to win the Cup. Plain and simple. You find me an all-Lady-Byng team and I'll show you a squad that contends for #1 pick overall.

That being said, completely disagree with you on Trotz. Don't forget he spent the vast majority of his career as coach with the Preds and in the Central, I never felt Nashville was dirty because of his play-calling.

Washington stepped up their dirty play in the playoffs whether you saw it or not, I think it comes from Trotz not having a contract and having nothing to lose. The fact that they repeatedly targeted the head speaks to a team wide strategy and a big part of why they won it all. Do I think he went to Oshie, Smith-Pelley, Wilson, etc and said target the head? No, of course not. But I do think that he told them to be more physical and play as close to the edge as they could because the evidence is there. I'm interested to see how the Caps play next year with him being gone.

Wilson grew up as a Darcy Tucker fan, and his play in the past two playoff years did simulate Tucker's style a lot.

So, Grubauer and Orpik are Avs now. Caps freeing up $$$ to keep Carlson, I suspect.

Since it's the Kings, it's a great signing. No mistake. Greatest UFA signing ever. Deano this Deano that. Well, the new Deano.

Happy with Avs trade for a goalie with the caps. I know it has been posted in the media that they will get rid of Orpik but they could do worse for defense. His salary isn't great but they have loads of cap space right now honestly for next year.

Orps is a good stay at home defenseman, but he's just too old and slow. He can't keep up with the fast paced teams as evidenced by his play in the playoffs. All he did was hook, hold and tackle people and put them in headlocks instead of actually defend them. Happy for him that he got a cup, but he should really think about hanging them up soon

Hey Taco: How do you feel about your Oil actually drafting someone versus the alleged offering of the 10th pick to everyone for anything?

I think Sharelli did the right thing for once and actually got a good prospect in Bouchard. Here's now the mine-field: Will Edmonton destroy another prospect by rushing him like everyone else or actually, let him season -- esp. important for D-men...?

Then, they don't deserve the kid. By my assessment, Edmonton is freaking lucky that Bouchard fell that far...mind you, I would've taken Dobson over him. Anyways, there are very very very few teenager D-man patrolling bluelines and given Edmonton's trainwreck on D, the kid can't be sheltered either and has no Norris Trophy caliber mentor to lean on either.

Sharelli should not be an idiot and try to sign or trade for a veteran player who can fill in at that right-hand shot and PP requirement instead of rushing Boosh.

Anyways, I'll see what Taco says, he may know what the pulse is of his team than I do. But, seriously, hope they aren't stupid. I think they almost ruined Pooyeeyarvee already -- and he's not even defense.

Happy to see Marty St.Louis goes to the HoF. I was lucky enough to see the height of the Stamkos/MSL era in person, insane amount of skill and Sedin-like chemistry in the offensive zone.

Hopefully Johnson pans out in Penguinland. He has not been QUITE the amazing player Moog touted him to be. But, he's not bad either.

Sad to see Sheary go. Really liked watching him play on the Pens.

You guys had to do something for Denfense though. It was terrible. Too bad there wasn't another way to do it.
