Crosby to go for wrist surgery: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=456771
Well, that settles the question if he was hurt or not during the playoffs. I'll say this: like some hockey players, Sid refused to use an injury as an excuse for his "average" play during this year's playoffs. He was playing with one wrist...And gotta give him credit...even when he was being crucified in the media for play that was not up to his standards, he did not say anything about the injury.
Gotta give him credit for this.

srika will tell you that Duncan No-Teeth Keith carries a $5.5M cap hit until 2023.
Senior Moderator
Oh crap I thought he was due soon. Well good luck signing him when he holds out in Sept. he's being screwed at only 5.5 per.
Senior Moderator
Which...if anyone is counting...is $200K less than what the Caps piled on Niskanen.

Any hockey player plays through injuries, that's why we make fun of soccer basketball players who need to be carted away after being bumped into or from "suffering" a leg cramp. If you don't you'd be crucified by your peers.
Meh, he was a pussy/lack luster player long before this years playoffs, this isn't a conclusion I just came to 3 months ago.

Kinda sucks to be in a thread where all the participants are always wrong. We have talk about nothing that is right/correct.
I miss having our sensei.

Yeah, the $$$ is high...but, given the rate at that tier of player in the market, I dunno what Chicago was to do either.
From TSN:
From TSN:
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to eight-year contract extensions, each worth an average annual value of $10.5 million. Both deals include a no-movement clause.
Toews and Kane each had one year remaining on their previous contracts. They both signed identical five-year $31.5 million contracts prior to the 2010-11 season.
In 76 games with the Blackhawks this season, Toews scored 28 goals and added 40 assists. He scored nine goals and 17 points in 19 playoff games.
Kane scored 29 goals and added 40 assists in 69 games. He added eight goals and 20 points in 19 playoff games.
Toews was drafted third overall in the 2006 Draft by the Blackhawks. Kane was drafted first overall in the 2007 Draft.
Toews was named the 34th captain in Blackhawks history prior to the 2008-09 season.

I believe that the Hawks made this deal believing the cap is going to continue to rise steadily...and, that they have complete faith in their farm system.
Some of the current core will be gone...I'd say Sharp is a candidate. Oduya will likely be going too at some point...

The cap is supposed to rise, just not next year...
Trolling Canuckistan
And FWIW, would tell that Keith has a $5,532,462 cap hit but that's cuz he's a real fan
Senior Moderator
There are also whispers that Sharp could be moved...but, those have died down now that Kesler and Spezza have been traded.
