When you win, everything is great...when you struggle (and with such big expectations), well, disagreements become giant issues apparently.

So apparently Lucic said "I'm going to fawkin kill you next year"
Maybe I'm naive, probably am with this but I always thought only nice and respectful things were said in the handshake line. Hockey is the only sport that does it, I always just presumed the players would be as classy as it looks. wonder how often douches like Lucic say things like that during the handshake.

Official: Blysma and Shero are fired. Presser at 11:30am.
Finally. Get another coach in here (Barry Trotz) and a capable GM that can actually draft forwards.
I liked Dan but he wasn't the right coach for this team anymore. He will get picked up within a week, guaranteed.

Either Shero or a new general manager likely will need a new coach, and the Penguins crave specific attributes, the sources said.
The coach will need to have a philosophy that emphasizes toughness and defense but not so much that it stifles the creativity of franchise centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the sources said.
However, the coach will need to carry enough clout to effectively challenge Crosby and Malkin, who grew disenchanted with Bylsma's methods during this past season, the sources said.
Crosby on Thursday tepidly denied a falling out with Bylsma. Malkin did not address the media.
Crosby, the Penguins captain, and Malkin are viewed by ownership as the franchise's cornerstones, but neither will have a say in the selection of a coach, the sources said.

It's not the regular season win record that is the problem, it's the post season.
Trotz playoff record is pretty pathetic.
Other than a Calder Cup, they guy is MIA in the post season.
1st and 2nd round punts a plenty.

@ keeping Blysma.
Why give the new GM that baggage?

Who is available that is "better" than Byslma?
Dumping the GM....that makes sense....he never addressed the problems with the team and filled the holes that were needed.
Dump the coach? Why? Is there a better one on the market?
Byslma had to work with the players that were given to him.....a team that was not built for playoff hockey. The GM never addressed the problems for over quite a few years.
If you dump Byslma, you most certainly are going to have to re-tool the roster significantly, for it's not the coach who is to blame for 100% of the failure, it's more to blame on the roster, and the GM who built the team.

Bylsma is gone, they want it to look like the new GM is the one making the big changes

New GM should get to hire his own coach, period. The chances that Blysma will be 'his' coach are slim to none.
And the Pens need a fresh start, you don't leave a rotting sandwich in the corner stinking up the place. Which is essentially what Blysma is right now.

And what does that ever have to do with firing a coach? Coach 's don't suddenly get stupid and forget how to coach. They lose credibility, relationships and respect of the players. Sometime you need to bring in a fresh voice.

What are the names rumored to be candidates to GM the Pens...?
I'm sure Kevin Lowe would be great to help Pens screw up their season enough to draft McDavid at #1...
