well fawk.

dempsey picked up a knee injury. possibly a PCL. looks like he'll be out for the world cup.

i know. it's not like the U.S. is gonna win it, but it sucks to lose one of your best players.

in wayne we trust...

glad to see rio back. i've always thought he reminded me of nesta. his injury problems are taking the comparison too literally.

watching the milan derby. is maicon the best RB in the world at the moment? i believe so.

For me, Maicon has been the best for the past few years. I mean he pushed out Javier Zanetti from his natural position and Dani Alves can't start for Brazil because of this guy.
Last season, I'd say Inter was 50% Ibra+Maicon from what I saw.

RVN is moving to Hamburg. I hope he plays well and makes it to the World Cup this summer. Huntelaar is on the bench for Milan, so I think he has a pretty good chance if he plays well.

i think he's been the best for a few years now too.

the maicon/dani alves comparison is much talked about, and there's a large number of folks that believe alves is the better player...but there's a reason why maicon is the starter.

RVN is a class act. 97 appearances at real madrid and 60+ goals.

i loved the guy at united and was happy to see him succeed in spain. his injuries really saddened me, but i hope he gets regular PT at hamburg.

to real madrid for doing a sendoff before today's game and letting the crowd applaud him one last time.

Agreed, RVN is a class act and does well wherever he goes. I'm sure he will do just fine at Hamburg.

On another note, I'm sure ya'll have heard about Paraguayan forward who plays for Club America in Mexico got shot in the head at a bar bathroom yesterday.

Cabañas was Paraguay’s leading marksman on the road to South Africa but after under going seven hours of emergency surgery following the shooting he is fighting for his life rather than a World Cup place.

The 29-year-old was out for the evening with his wife when the shooting took place. Dr. Ernesto Martinez who operated on the player said he was unable to remove the bullet from Cabañas’ brain.

“We would do more damage if we tried to extract it. We cannot be assured that he is out of danger. He is however young and healthy and that helps.”
Basically they didn't take the bullet out because they thought it might do more damage if they attempt it. I hope all is well and he pulls through...

also read that charlie davies may actually be ready in time for the world cup.

apparently, they put adamantium in him, and he's fully healed from his broken bones. he just needs one more surgery to remove plates and screws from his elbow. he's already jogging and doing agility drills.

and the article (from ives on soccernet) says he has a scar from ear to ear (over the top of his head) since the doctors had to remove his face to repair his fractured facial bones.

good luck to him. now, get him, gooch, and dempsey healed in time!

doh. thought this was yesterday.

but we did it!

i have to admit, i got really nervous when rooney missed that chance and tevez scored. but whew!

great to see the look of defeat on the faces of city's cunts: bellamy, tevez, and adebayor.

very disappointed in our fans though for throwing coins and a beer bottle at bellamy.

Well, well we are into the second half of the season and:

Yet again it will be a two horse race between ManU and Chelsea but I BELIEVE Chelsea can hang on and win. ManU has a tough game @ Villa today and Chelsea @ Everton tomorrow so those games could see some results that change things...

I'm actually impressed at Birmingham, wtf are they doing so high in the table? lol. Right now, only for sure team I think will get relegated is Portsmouth, that is if they don't go bankrupt lol. The other 2 relegated teams are up in the air. And I am amazed how Liverpool are still in the top 4, but Villa, City, or Tot could easily take that 4th place.

lol, well, Liverpool has been doing fine since the beginning of this year, right until their match against Arsenal..........

Birmingham....probably because of the new boss (and hence money)?

great carling cup final!

i thought vidic should have gotten a red for the foul on agbonlahor. or at least a yellow.

brilliant finishing by owen on the first goal. i thought he was playing really well until the injury. sad to see him have to leave the final with an injury....and that was his first injury all season.

rooney continues his hot streak! the man is playing like he is possessed. reminds me of ronaldo's scoring streak from 2 seasons ago.

Didn't watch it but Rooney is scoring goals galore, but Drogba is on his tail. Can't wait for the 2nd legs of the Champs League.

drogba is definitely on his tail. very impressive because he doesn't take penalties for chelsea and missed time due to the ACN.

not a fan, but i believe he is the best striker in the world at the moment. and the most complete. he can do it all.

was hoping for chelsea to beat city.

but at bridge leaving terry hanging.

Yea that was funny he shook the kid's hand instead of Terry's, and then you could hear a bunch of boos at Bridge for doing that. Fking Chelsea lost . Now it is a 3 horse race for the top spot... Arsenal are coming ever so closer.

And did you happen to see Aaron Ramsey's leg break? Ouch! Arsenal are so unlucky when it comes to leg breaks lol. I think Fabregas is next in line...

Hey I don't follow soccer that much but I just heard one of my best friends from a long long time ago, back when I lived in Serbia 10 years ago, is playing for FC Brussels, here is a video his brother found and sent me. He was always good at soccer I just didn't know he made it this far

what an eventful and emotional week for david beckham.

1. returns home to play against man united for the first time on wednesday. enters the game to a HUGE ovation from the crowd. looked like he was crying when he stepped onto the field. then he looked like he was crying again after the game when he applauded the fans.

you gotta love the fans though. they follow up the thunderous ovation with a cheeky boo when he gets the ball for the first time. then they chant "fergie, sign him up!"

and when he picks up the green and gold scarf.

2. and now his season is over and world cup dreams are as well. horrible way to end your international career. the look on his face said it all. feel so bad for him.

hate him or love him, the guy was so committed to england and is man united through and through. you can tell how much he loves the club and how much england means to him.

pity...

And CHELSEA hopefully pull off a win vs Inter today (definitely possible at Stamford Bridge)

Also Arsenal have been playing lights out lately. Arshavin and Nasri stepping up.

i would like to see chelsea win just so that retarded club, inter, will fire mourinho.

this whole idea of "you will get fired if you don't win the CL" is bonkers. and then the coaching carousel that follows is laughable.

the CL is so difficult to win because of so many variables and luck that's involved: the draw, dates, injuries during those dates, whoever's in form, etc.

you can't expect a manager to win the CL within 2 years.

look at fergie. until 08, it took him 10 seasons to get it right.

mourinho's a brilliant manager and tactician. sure, he comes off as a jerk and very pompous, but he's brilliant.

i hope he doesn't go to city. or madrid. the board will fire him after one season even if he wins the league and CL because his style is too boring, and they'll never be pleased with 1-0 wins.

/rant.

Btw I forgot that I am really nervous that Chelsea have to play 3rd choice keeper Turnbull today. But hopefully we can get a few goals and not have to worry about it.

Damn this race at the top is CLOSE between the 'BIG 3' (Liverpool would be in if it was the 'BIG 7' )

Was complete bullshit when Samuel literally wrapped his arms around Drogba in the box and threw him to the ground RIGHT IN FRONT of the ref. Not even a penalty or card. I swear Chelsea is getting royally fucked by the refs...conspiracy.

And then in the 89th minute when Drogba got his red card... WTF was that?! Him and the Italian bitch are just jostling for position and the ref calls a penalty on Drogba for nothing and as soon as the Italian hears the ref's whistle he goes down and starts grabbing his ankle then his leg then his face. Fucking disgrace.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Italian soccer players are the biggest piece of shit divers/fakers/floppers - call it what you will. They somehow seem to get away with so many dirty plays and fake dives that it boggles my mind. And that is the reason why everyone in the world, except Italians, hate them when it comes to football.

Only good thing I have to say was great playing by Sneijder and Eto'o and was a deserved goal on their part (both not Italians of course).

^ I will admit Inter played good but still Drogba should have obviously been given a penalty kick when he was thrown down in the box.
