College Football: 2010 Season Discussion Thread

Thanks and a nice, overdue, win for UGA.
I hope Auburn runs the table in the West and USCe takes care of business in the East for a rematch in the SEC Championship.
The big question is whether or not there is enough bias to put a 11-1 SEC Champion in the NC. A 12-0 is no question.

Saban wants the Tide to remember this should they run into the Gamecocks for the SEC championship game.
"I actually talked to (Greg) McElroy after the game and he said, 'We'll see you all again,'" said Garcia, who was pulled from South Carolina's last game, a 35-27 loss at Auburn, after fumbling twice.

UF skilled players got skooled again for the second week. I'll give them "the notch" below classification of South Carolina: UF is unlucky instead of skilled.
A new Sheriff in the SEC East boys.

Losing by 4 is considered being "skooled" now?
On another note: That game was heart attack inducing.

Never.
It's just when USCe wins, it's always marked up as luck and when UF loses it is always marked up as their skilled players not performing. Eventually like the NCAA Baseball Championship of 2010, things change and you can't keep living in the past 40 years of history.

Oh I see. Well, this game we just didn't have many of our skilled players (either by injury or otherwise). As, to how the wins/loses are chalked up I can't comment.
Quite honestly I don't have the right to set foot into this thread. All my football critiques are based upon knowledge gained from when I played flag football. I know very little of school history and even less about the players themselves. I do love game day atmosphere however. It's really cool to have a whole city watching one game and participating in various festivities.

South Carolina will abuse Alabama's secondary with their tall WRs if Garcia can get them the ball. Florida was able to pass on Alabama pretty good, but just couldn't capitalize on some drives.
Alabama's D is not as good as last year, and if a team can pass efficiently they will win. Arkansas had the win before Mallet threw 2 INTs in the 4th and gave the game away. Penn State had open WR's the entire game, but their Freshman QB couldn't get the ball to them.
You can stop Alabama's run and win the game..
Ingram - 47 yards
Richardson - 63 yards
McElroy - 84 yards
Florida lost the game because of turnovers at bad times. That's one thing I will give Alabama credit for.. they play mistake free football, for the most part. They don't beat themselves, and that is how they have been able to win 19 in a row.

Yeah, even I saw that one coming. Also, I feel the call was fair, it looked like a lateral to me. There was nothin' "forward" about it from what I could tell.

Congrats to SC, real talent, I underrated them, Jeffrey is a complete monster and I take back my negative thoughts about SC. Also Florida absolutely sucks. Congrats again to SC and their fans.

I think Alabama will handle SCAR. Lattimore will be handled and Bama's secondary will be opportunistic. Yeah you'll see a couple of big plays, but they'll also make some key plays as well. Spurrier will get frustrated with Garcia and pull him sometime in the second half, only to reinsert him late to attempt the comeback.
31-19 Bama

The thing that helped it from being overturned was the fact that it was originally called a lateral. If it had been ruled a forward pass initially, then there might not have been enough evidence to rule it a lateral.

Two Must See Games for this Coming Saturday:
Ohio State (-6.5) v. Wisconsin (liking Wisconsin)
Arkansas v. Auburn (-2.5) (will the ball keeps breaking for Auburn. I think their luck runs dry this time).
If Wisconsin and Arkansas win, that throws the BCS in a spin. The SEC, as well as the Big Ten probably, will more than likely have a one-loss team, Oregon is sitting pretty, and the undefeated, weak schedule, mid-major conferences.

How the f-ck did that jackass Professor get back on Azine? This thread was so pleasant in his absence.
Anyhoo, happy my Cardinal pulled out close win over USC. Even though the Trojan's weren't ranked, to beat SC two years in a row is a big deal. Luck is playing some good football now, I say he or Locker from UW will be top QB drafted next year. Pac-10 still looking good although Zona lost.

I don't understand why Nebraska is so high.. They've played Western Kentucky, Idaho, Washington, South Dakota State, & Kansas State. Has to be the weakest schedule in the Top 10 right now.

So how good is Auburn? No offense Rockstar but I'm reserving judgment on LSU, too many close calls although the play calling this past weekend was a big improvement. OSU will be tested down the stretch, they definitely have a challenge coming up at Camp Randall and Mich St. is looking more and more impressive as the season progresses.

That, and it's when Meyer is supposed to do what he has done so well in the past - play to our strengths. Quit the fucking dive and option plays that we do. I could care less that we get five yards per option on average.
Start throwing the ball down field. We was the last time we attempted a pass longer than 30 yards? The Miami (OH) game?!

Our offense has yet to put a full game together, yet we're 6-0. Newton is the best player in the nation right now, and will be the SEC POY. He has a chance to win the Heisman, but we have to keep winning ( Renegade).
Our defense just doesn't have the talent to play press coverage so we're playing a lot of soft zone, giving up the short pass, but taking away the deep ball. The defensive strategy works WHEN you can make open field tackles, something we didn't do well against Kentucky.
The next 2 games against Arkansas & LSU will tell a lot about our team. IF we win both, then we will make a run at the SECCG.
Kentucky had less Total Yards against us than they did Florida, yet Florida's score was a bigger margin. Two reasons.. Penalties & Kick Returns. We had 88 yards of penalties, some were BS, and shouldn't have been called. Also, they had 180 kick return yards against us, which gave them good field position on a lot of their drives.
Throwing the deep ball was a complaint we had in 2003.. same story different team. You'll need a new OC before anything changes
