i thought the tcu/boise st. game was exciting. i just didn't want to see the two teams play each other again.

florida/cincinnati was pretty disappointing.

iowa/ga. tech wasn't that exciting either despite the close game.

I was hoping the TCU/Boise game would be higher scoring, especially with how good Moore has been this past season. Props to both defenses, definitely was a defensive struggle. The fake punt was classic Broncos though.

I though the Oregon/Ohio St. game was decent.

Cincinatti I turned off at halftime.

I am Ohio State alumnus, so I liked the outcome, but it was not that great of a game. Only two lead changes around half time--and it was pretty obvious Oregon had no magic halftime locker room answers to the Buckeye's defense about midway through the third quarter. Tressel-ball won one for a change. I would think a third party observer would have turned the channel (if there was another game on).

But like I said, I went to Ohio State, so I'm glad you liked it

I am a Stanford alumnus so I was pulling for Oregon Masoli is also a local boy. Doing my residency in Michigan didn't exactly endear me to the Buckeyes either LOL. But, yeah it was decent, not super exciting or anything. Like I said, GMAC bowl yesterday going to 2 overtimes was best bowl game I've seen this week. QB from Central Mich is the bombizzle.

I missed the GMAC. 16 month old had us up all night Tuesday, so I passed out a 8 last night. I usually get desperate this time of year to watch every college game I can before the long, dark, cold off season.

Much better year this year than last--Va Tech (undergrad) and OSU (grad) both won. One of these days they are going to play each other...

LOL I'm exactly the same way! I vividly remember how depressed I am during the summer before football season begins when I find myself watching women's golf and such to get my sports fix. I believe it's imperative to absorb as much football as possible before the season ends and I'm back to my depressed state in the interim between the Super Bowl and March Madness LOL.

thus the beauty of soccer (to me).

it's practically year-round.

but i do agree about the end of football season. i don't really watch the nba as much anymore until the end of the season and playoffs. baseball has been meh to me the last several years.

so between february and, say, may, it's pretty dry (sports-wise).

luckily, there are a lot of soccer leagues going on at that time.

Congratulations Tide. You just beat a true freshman with 20-something college snaps in mop-up time.

You should be proud of your National Championship*

^ ^You can't blame Bama for playing against a newb qb. What were they supposed to do, refuse to play?

That's too bad for Texas. The played hard. I thought they were going to pull it out in the end.

Grats Tide! I would have loved to have seen a game with McCoy in it though; but, having said that, the frosh QB from Texas is going to be GOOD.

ROLL TIDE!!!

how great actually to watch my Tide win a Championship for the first time.. (in 92 i was only 3.5 years old lol)

as happy as i was that McCoy got injured, i would've much rather played and beat Texas with him in the game.. now ill never hear the end of it from all the Bama haters ..but i do feel bad for him though, poor guy worked hard and it was the greatest and last game of his college career and he had to miss it!!

Congrats Bama and Bama fans, been a long time coming
I'm pissed that we'll hear more of this "SEC Dominance" bullshit for another year.

had the night to think it over.

1. congrats to alabama. they played a hell of a season, and despite the naysayers (of the team and/or bcs), they deserve the national championship.

2. i feel horrible. HORRIBLE...for colt. what a terrible way to go out and cap a GREAT college career.

3. i'm so proud of the way we fought back. i'll admit that at 24-6, i thought it was over and pretty depressing. even when nobody was scoring in the 3rd quarter, i thought it was still game.

4. at least we have a qb next season and beyond. verdict's too early to say gilbert will be great or whatnot. but if i remember correctly, he was very highly rated out of high school (if that means anything), and hopefully, he builds on last night's highs and lows.

5. i'm tired...

Are you serious? A true freshman went into the biggest game of his life against one of the nations best defenses. He started out flat, but that was play calling IMO. He looked more poised in the 2nd half and was making the passes that needed to be made.

If Mack Brown didn't call that stupid shovel pass before halftime then the game would have been a lot different. That was easily the worst play call this year.

yea. like many big games, there are lots of "what ifs" to think about.

i felt so bad for colt during his post-game interview on the field.

at least he didn't start crying like tebow and held back his tear. j/k.

i agree.

and it's that he has a lot of work before filling colt's shoes. we're talking about a QB that had one of the best college careers ever.

once he got confident and the receivers stopped dropping balls, he looked pretty good out there and played just as well as anyone could have expected (from him or colt).

it's too early to say if he'll be "ok" or "great" or whatever. give him time and let him grow.

i don't think the shovel pass was a bad call. typically, it is a safe call and given how badly gilbert was playing, i think it was a good call on that down (3rd, was it?).

i just dunno if gilbert should have attempted it though given how close the RB was to the defenders.

but my memory fades me already.

it sure did prove to change things up since a 17-6 deficit would have helped our "comeback".

It took them 13 other wins to get there. Gilbert played better than McElroy.
