Ghana has had some good chances. Their counter attack is very fast and dangerous.

I've got my laptop here and I'm working in front of the TV today. I have a conf call in 20 minutes that might make watching the game challenging.

Kinda. I am only in the office this week today and tomorrow, so I'm basically just tying up a few loose ends before I take off. I'm going to be out of the office through next week.

well that was pathetic.

ghana needs to tie it up to give the US any shot. or we can hope that czech pounds italy as well and then battle on goal differential with italy (which right now isnt in USA's favor either) hmmmm

this game is so boring . Italy has missed 3 goals at least . They should just give the cup to Brazil

so because they are hitting cross bars or the goalie is making great saves its boring? Just trying to understand your reasoning.

I havent seen much of the second half but the first have was very entertaining.

I understand diving is part of the game in soccer and there's definitely an artistry to it ... but it's already getting old. Every challenge with a hint of contact results in a flop accompanied by screaming and writhing-on-the-ground pain. Then 30 seconds later, the dude's back on his feet.

I'm watching the Ghana/Italy match-up at work and one of the Ghanian fowards is diving all over the place ... if he just surged forward and remained on his feet (rather than going to the ground anticipating the whistle), he would actually get some shots off.

There was only one ball hitting the crossbar . It is boring because Ghana has no reaction . YET Italy cant score . They have to wait until Ghana makes a stupid mistake to score .

But like you said, it is almost a cultural thing. Also, alot of times things dont look bad but they hurt. Getting cleats in the leg or stepped on by cleats is extremely painful. And yes 30 seconds later you would be able to walk.

Ya, thats the italian game. But honestly from what I've seen today there has been lots of chances, on both ends.

I'm sure you were watching the Italy-Ghana game, probably the best game I've seen so far in this tournament

Wow, what a disappointment today. I didn't expect the U.S. to win or even tie, but I thought it would be close.

My fav game so far was Sweden against T&T.

I remember a show a few months back (I think it was on FSC) where the "top" U.S. analysts were rating each team. They called the U.S. "contenders" and Germany "pretenders."

I understand that Germany isn't THE BEST team there, but it was ridiculous to put the U.S. ahead of them then. I think a few weeks later Germany beat them 4-1.

I think the problem is that the US spends all its time playing teams from north and central america, and you never get to see how they really stack up against the south american and european teams.

Anyways, the US has come very far since the '94 world cup. Kudos for that. In another 10 years they may very well be world cup contenders.

Should be a good game on Saturday. The US will be playing desperate. Always dangerous.

And may make it past the first round of World Cup qualifying.

Its really starnge IMO how bad we are at Soccer. You would think that with all the immigrants we have someone would be able to play.

The other problem is the good players we do have end up changing citizenship because there's more money to made player soccer in other countires.

ie; Owen Hargraves

We simply need a good soccer program, which needs money. Also we have a relatively small population. Then again look at how dominant the Czechs are in sports (soccer, hockey, olympics) with a population of only 10M.

phew, its been a busy June for me so I'm glad I have some time to come back and talk.

Couple of things;

-GOOD FOR T&T!
-Rosicky is making me damn proud that he'll be playing for Arsenal next year
-It's good to see all the young Arsenal Gunners playing for their respective nations at their relatively young ages
-USA, that was a terrible game. Although the Czechs did play a better game, the way America came out was put simply; pathetic.

plenty more to say when I get the chance. Glad to see many people keeping this thread thriving.

WOW Switzerland should have beaten France. Anybody see the game? If Frei hadnt tried to put the ball into the net with his hand, the guy in back of him would have clearly but it in for the 1-0 win. O well a tie is a fine result especially versus the toughest team in the group. Nice job
