Wasn't the US ranked #6 coming into this match? I bet Trinidad and Tobago could beat us, we look like a high school team that's never played together before. Czech is clearly just better.

The czechs look really good. They put on a clinic and simply owned the US from start to finish.

Team soccer vs a bunch of guys kicking the ball at each other hoping something good happens.

Depressing that I took a long lunch and will probably have to work late now, all for that

This game will do wonders for our goal differential.. Nedved was key, just making plays, setting up his teammates, and pretty much running the show, The Czechs were definitely poised, patient, and played together well. I'm even getting nervous about coming out of this group with a win... It's like France '98 all over again when we lost to Germany 3-0 to kick things off.

I caught the first half at lunch. I think the US had that one shot of the upright and that was it. The Czechs were dominant.

How does Arena still have a job?
Everyone, players, coaches, etc. says he's a genius, but the U.S. always seems to just not show up for the big games. Is this a coaching issue or an on-field team leadership issue?

I'd say it's a little of both. The team definately looks like they have no organization. They never try to sculpt plays into developing. They're "patient" in that regard.

And I thought the Swedish performance was disappointing. I'm not the biggest supporter of the US team (I'm a huge England supporter) but damn that was terrible. I've watched a couple of their friendly matches and I wasn't getting my hopes too high, but damn.

USA team has no finese shots at all. All they do is lob the ball and hoping for miracle. This is like every freaking World Cup. How the hell the coach still have his job? Look like nobody wants the job in the first place.

They should have play Adu, and not some old men. Look at European players, they are freaking 21 years old, not 28 like the US.

Except when it comes to a few teams that they get right (ie: Brazil, Netherlands, Argentina, England). Other than that, the system is crap.

Good point...I grew up playing soccer and still do in college, and I cant stand when a coach just sits there throughout a game. The one time he can sit back is if theres a big lead or your team is playing extremely well, both of which certainly not the case today.

Its your basic 4 team round robin. Top 2 teams advance. Ties are broken by goal differentials. If the US lose the next game they are pretty much done.

Italy just drilled one off the cross bar, from inside the box.
