I thought those were just rumors about South Africa. FIFA had said that if South Africa could not have the facilities ready they would consider moving the World Cup, and the USA was on the list. However, South Africa has said they will be ready no problem and, at the moment, FIFA is satisfied.
Also keep in mind that the USA was one of the replacements they were keeping in mind. Doesn't mean it would come to the US on the off chance SA is not ready b/c there are other countries on the backup list. Plus, I doubt they'd give it to us so soon after already hosting...

^ Yeah, I read that. I also read an article that said that SA is a rich country and will not have problems building the infrastructure it needs. Either way I don't think FIFA will be making a move right now.
I do have a feeling it will be moved from South Africa. I just don't think they'll give it to the US again so soon...

yea i believe south africa has the financial resources and capability to get everything built and taken care of, i really think fifa is more worried about the violence and what will happen when you get massive crowds of people from all nations into a place that has had a history of crime and violence...
although i really wish US would get a bid again, i really think they wont since they hosted it just in '94. also, theyre trying to "rotate" continents to be fair and england would be a likely choice but this cup was just in europe... so then it opens up question to 2014 was slotted for possibly south america, brazil or argentina, so who knows... all speculation right now anyways
we just gotta assume it stays in south africa, but im very very skeptical. hopefully it is somewhere closer because im goin to the next world cup for sure.

The Germans are saying that the U.S. is one of the few countries who could host a thing of this magnitude on such a short notice. They're saying that construction of neither of the 4 new stadiums has begun yet and some SA officials are actually arguing where to build a stadium. Also, they're saying that Africa does not have have enough space to house 500,000 tourists.
Didn't the women's world cup get moved to the U.S. because of SARS in China, even though it had been in the U.S. 4 years before that?
England just hosted the Euro in 96, who cares about them?

I think England was the runner up for the 2006 world cup. I doubt that there will be another world cup in europe for at least another 8-12 years.

Either way, it shouldn't be an excuse, but it totally changes my perspective on what happened, just like it changed the way I look at Zidane.
I heard Materazzi twisted/pinched his left nipple during the game

Zinedine Zidane will reveal later this week what possessed him to head-butt Marco Materazzi in the World Cup Final, his agent has confirmed.
The Frenchman brought his career to an unforgettable end when he was red-carded for his assault on the Azzurri centre-back.
Speculation suggests that Zizou reacted to verbal provocation and his representative has admitted that is the case.
"He told me Materazzi said something very serious to him, but he wouldn't tell me what," Alain Migliaccio told BBC Five Live Sport.
"Zinedine didn't want to talk about it but it will all come out in the next week," he added.
"He is a man who normally allows things to wash over him, but on Sunday night something exploded inside him.
"He was very disappointed and sad. He didn't want it to end this way."
A variety of theories regarding what was said are doing the rounds, such as claims that the Inter stopper insulted the player by making comments about his sister or his mother.
Although Materazzi is no angel, as most Italian football followers are aware of, his father Giuseppe Materazzi has leapt to his defence.
"I spoke to him briefly after the game," said Materazzi senior, a former Coach of Bari. "Marco had told me he had been provoked. It's as though they have something against him each time.
"I don't want to be controversial, but there are things that have to be said instead of just pointing the finger and putting a black mark against someone."

Actually after watching this video, I'm kind of sad that Zidane didn't break his nose, choke slam, bodyslam his ass and kick him in the groin. I never thought I'd say this, but this guy is more annoying than Ronaldo!!!
