Whats up with RDX owners?

Probably not - from their press release:
BUT - it is a dual scroll turbo, so there could be a chance that power doesn't taper as drastically as RPM increases.
I'm in the market for a larger car at the end of the year/beginning in 2021. I currently have my eye on used RS5 Sportbacks. They can be had in the $60k range, have a 2.9l twin turbo, and makes gobs of power. Yes, it's a level above where the Type S is going to slot, but at the price the Type S will most likely be (I'm guessing mid to high $50k range to start, low $60ks with advance or whatever packages they're going to make available), it's going to a hard sell. I'm not sure how I feel about the exterior dimensions of the Type S though - it's grown to nearly the size of the (now dead) RLX, but the interior is pretty much the same size as the outgoing TLX. It looks like most of the size went into stretching the front end to make it look like a RWD based car. With that said, having a proper double wishbone suspension up front certainly adds to it's allure.
Deep down, I am a Honda fanboy and I want them to hit it out of the park. But I'm also a realist (bordering on pessimist), so I'm not getting my hopes up
The new transverse-mounted V6 will be highly compact and lightweight, utilizing a dual scroll turbocharger and electronic wastegate to deliver immediate, high-torque response. Compared to the outgoing, naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, the new engine delivers dramatic gains in peak horsepower and, more critically, in torque, across the engine's full operating range, including a more than 50-percent increase in low-end torque. Final specifications for the new engine, including power output, will be released closer to launch timing.

I think to move any real numbers, the Type-S will need to be well under 50k. IMO if they start over +10K from the base price it could deter a lot of buyers. The only way I can see them getting away with more is if the Type-S ends up being a real performer and shows it can actually hang with the big German performance sedans.
I still keep in touch with the guy I bought my TL from and he ended up replacing it with a new Audi RS5 and loves it. That thing is an absolute beast and a great looking car. He says the only thing he misses is not having the 6spd manual.

Final call! Beers and gears today from 2-6. I might not get there until 3 or 4, depending on my level of production here at the house. (gotta get some orders sent out) I will try to bring the camera and take some photos of stuff that i see there. Maybe even do some quick fotos of the TL since it will be out of the garage. We'll see.

Morgan, it sounds like you are almost motivated to consider driving a new TLX! I really can't wait to hear what it sounds like. I mean we heard it in the videos but i don't know how accurate those noises were.

How in the world did you get/find that link???

Exec/PM/Sales - Oh, yeah we want that!
2hrs later after the meeting ends and they talk to the Engineers - Can't do it if you want to remain CARB legal. Crap, Ok we will need to do it with styling.
--------
Or do they throw ULEV out the window and follow the F-Type, RS5, and Supra/Z4 to burble on stock? 😈

lol nah it was in a thread someone posted yesterday in the tlx section.
It's pretty cool that they were inspired by the noise of a supercar and went back to the drawing board.

"Attention Commanding" ... nice buzz phrase, I like it
Would love for the mode select to also alter the ecu tuning like other performance cars do. I think that would be a big statement for the future, even if it only has 350hp instead of 400. People like to play with things, esp if they are looking for a performance based car in that price range.

If others are tired of the TLX Type-S talk... has anyone's opinion changed on what they think this actually is? Is it really the next gen CTR or could it be a test mule for this upcoming 2022 'Compact Sedan' Type-S?

The design language within the front bumper screams Civic, but if the compact sedan is the ILX, it could be another shared platform (hope not though).
That car is a hatchback though.

The front end and brakes look like the Civic Type R. Rear doesn't look like a hatch. Looks more like that "fastback" design that Honda has been using like the Audi A6 and A8.

Both technically have hatches, but yes - they're more of a liftback/fastback design.

Fuck it...i think its the new mystery compact sedan because it's supposed to be a 2022 model according to acuras planning chart. So we should be seeing this thing under camo already. I bet its an acura.

It's probably a shared platform (so another ILX). But the presentation from Acura stated that the 3l turbo v6 will be used in their Type S models...I wonder if that means the CTR is going v6? Or is the ILX-S staying 4cyl, and they just meant their bigger bodied Type S cars are going to be V6 powered?
Longtime Lurker
The article also states Honda is also moving CTR production from Swindon (shout out to my EP3 Civic with it's horrible suspension geometry) to North America for the 2022 model year, which will bring with it the next refresh. So I agree, could be a shared platform.
That rear door to wheel arch cut/step is almost a dead giveaway carryover from the FK8.

The spy shots above I believe now are the shots of the Type R redesign. Seen another article on it earlier today.

The question is: what if this mystery sedan somehow looks moar awesome than the type R?

While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the CTR is kinda polarizing in the looks department. I would still take one in a heartbeat, but if Acura released a more refined and less 'boy racer' styled version I would be all over that. I think this new compact sedan could fit that bill... as long as it retains a manual [option]. 🤞

I'm on the fence. I love the look of the Type R. But if Acura came out with a more "refined" Type S in it's same class, I'd definitely have to see how it looks and I'd check it out. Might even trade the Accord 2.0 I just got for it in about 3 or 4 years if/when it comes out.

I love it! Remote start. The power. The features. But it won't become a project car. Gonna just do Eibach Sportlines, Injen intake, front lip, KTune/Hondata, and MAYBE some 19x9.5s. We'll see how it works out. I'm not too concerned about the wheels. Looking more for the other parts.

I finally put some time in on my new VC's this past week. Got them all painted up.... LOVE how this color came out! 🤩
I wanted something close to J's Racing Teal and found this "AMC-Blue" engine enamel that fit the bill perfectly.
New gaskets, grommets and a dab of Hondabond and the rear cover is in! I got distracted cleaning or I would have had both done this weekend. My 3.7 IM butterfly valve was looking nasty so I took it completely apart and got rid of all the buildup... looking brand new now.

Also when I removed the Intake Manifold I saw a few areas of leaks.. some obvious (circled in green), but some not so obvious to me at least. Does anyone know where those spills may have come from highlighted in red and blue? The Blue might be from a leaky VC gasket... but usually gravity would cause that leak to go down, not up. And the Red areas are just random pools [of oil?]. The connection point for the IM to the lower runners is below those surfaces, so unless it sprayed out and up I had to come from somewhere else.
I am kinda stumped at the moment. Everywhere else was dry. The lower runner intake connection to the head was clean and dry and so was the fuel injector base.

Great car, and my favorite color! I am guessing you didn't get it from Hendrick Honda? I've noticed all of Hendrick Honda's cars have their front plates drilled into the bumper and they put their hideous logo on it. Imagine doing that in Charlotte when both North and South Carolina don't require front license plates, so stupid. Scott Clark puts the stupid sticker on the trunk, but that's easy to get off.
Nope. I work at Honda Cars of Rock Hill. So I just got my manager to work me out a great deal. Showed me a great rate and I took it. I hate that front plate drilled crap. I don't need one. Lol. Plus it ruins the front bumper.
Three Wheelin'
Oh cool. 100% agree and I have no idea why Hendrick Honda does it. Other Hendrick dealers don't. I definitely don't want my brand new car coming already ruined.

Finally got it lowered. I like it. Not like "OMG I LOVE IT" but it rides good. Slightly a LITTLE too soft. Eibach Sportlines. Installed Injen intake on Wednesday. A friend of mine traded his Accord 2.0 in and let me get his Hondata FlashPro for a steal. I had no intentions of my car getting modded this fast. Hahahaha! The last things that will be done are 19x9.5s(possibly) and front lip. No exhaust. No coils with slam and camber. Nope. This will be my clean DD.

Thanks! Got a Hondata for it already and didn't even plan to have these things done this quickly. Hahahaha! One of my friends let me get his Hondata after he traded his 18 Accord 2.0 6spd in. Going to dyno it this week and see what the numbers are like before and after.
Can I ask where you guys go for Dyno services? Is the shop down in SC or up in the Charlotte area? I've been wanting to put my TL on the dyno but haven't done it yet and I have no idea where to go. I saw in IG that Euro Empire just got an AWD dynojet, but I don't think it's too difficult to disconnect the AWD system and just dyno the car as FWD. Doubt they know anything about Ktuner anyway, haha.

That's for sure. Lol. It's in downtown Rock Hill. ShiftFast Performance. Looks like I'll have to dyno it next month. He only has Thursday and Friday available and I'm working both those days. Dyno isn't available all next week because he has some tuning going on all week.
