I can't stand the love for SUV. I love wagons. For the most part they handle like sedans but come with more cargo room.
Early last month I got news that I was being let go. It wasn't anything I did, but the budget for 2015 didn't allow the to keep my position. My position "didn't bring in money" like a salesman or technician, so I was an overhead cost every month. I was heartbroken but understood.
I applied to places for the next two weeks, trying to find something that interested me, but sadly nothing worked out. My last day was the 31st so on the 30th, out of pure desperation, I contacted two managers that had transferred to Northlake. I told them that I was being let go and asked if they had any technology-based positions open. A few hours later I was told to call the GM there and he offered me the spot over the phone.
It was pure luck and I'm very thankful that the two managers I knew were willing to bring me over.
I'm now in the Technology Department as a Delivery Specialist; the same thing Stephen was doing at the Independence location. We are smaller than that store so it's just me and one other guy which is really cool. The hours are pretty long but I'm allowed OT so I don't mind. It's much more of a team mentality at Northlake and it seems better organized as well. The commute sucks (10 miles one way compared to 33) but with the insane traffic on 74 and Idewild, it takes me just as long to get to work as before which is nice.

My first day was last Saturday! I drive past Taco Mac at University everyday now
The only bad part about my position is that I never get off on time. I was supposed to leave at 7 yesterday, ended up leaving at 11:15 because a couple came in 6:30 and started negotiating and then did finance and THEN it was my turn with them. I'm always the last step so this job is more of a waiting game than anything else.

Hey everybody long time no see, hopefully everybody had a good holidays or at least better than mines. Thinking about selling my airride kit, and works wheels, latly me n the wife been trying to have a child but we're going through some problem and fertility treatment is expensive and most insurance carrier don't cover for fertility. Plus my father in law had an heart attack before Christmas Eve plus other complication so been spending time in the hospital during the holidays. Hopefully 2015 a better year for me cause it not going great so far. Sorry to vent just been stressing latly.

This is what I want, minus the light colored interior: https://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4829737302.html
I saw this at C&C multiple times. While I don't like the aftermarket add-ons, I like that it's an A6 Avant. Do want: https://charlotte.craigslist.org/ctd/4811451054.html
I would be willing to drop by some time! The only problem with this position is that I never leave when I'm supposed to. People show up 30 minutes before they close and test drive, then negotiate, then off to finance, THEN it's my turn with them. I didn't leave until 11:15 last Wednesday.

Sorry to hear about your troubles; I'm sure that's frustrating. Car parts are great but there are many other priorities in life.

Damn you Audi. If only they had given us the S4 avant. That A4 looks awesome. Not feeling that A6 though.
That is insane that your schedule varies that much.

^ Pick up a previous gen GTS. They're just as bad-ass, and if you get a newer model year, are not that far off from the basic shape of the redesign (taillights are probably the most glaring difference)....

I think I did alright for 19's.
Car gets a nice bath tomorrow after work.
Speaking of alignments, what is everyone's thoughts on the Lifetime Alignment from Firestone? I know Tyler mentioned it a long time ago. Just thought I might ask before I go spend a huge chunk of money.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Went to Stateline Jeep and came home with a white Sahara. Brand New. Fresh to death.
This was all a result of the is300 starting to really act up. She was idling funny Friday night so we went ahead and just got a brand new Jeep.
The wife gave me clearance to go ahead and paint the wheels black so we took care of that hastily. Already running storm trooper status with 83 miles on the odometer.

Stephen that's a pretty good deal for 19" tires. I bought the firestone lifetime alignment back in 08 but have never returned for a 2nd alignment.

i have the lifetime alignment and recommend it, i get it done along with the inspection every year. my rear tires are wearing bad on the inside, got 2.5 years out of them so not complaining, im thinking of going up to 245/35s which means another height adjustment and another alignment

Congrats on the new job/transfer, Tyler!
Eric, need pics of the new Jeep
Well, it seems the last of my black Friday purchases is finally on its way. Technically earlier than I was told, so I suppose I should be happy, but almost two months is ridiculous to me. Hopefully this warm weather hangs around for a while so I can get everything installed. Even if it doesn't, it's still nice to be able to wash the car in mid-January.

I think Tyler is one of a few that saw the Jeep before the wheels got painted.
Pushbar and led light bars and things like that will happen to it over time.
I'm proud I was able to convince the wife to actually spend money on something big.

Yeah the IS got diagnosed at woodies and they came up with a list of things that could be done to it. Maybe I will have some of it done but it's not pressing. I will give it some attention in the coming months.

Mechanically, my TL is running like a champ. Just shy of 148k and averaging 28mpg during my commute to work. MID indicates 33-34 on the drive to Cary about once every 2 months.
My HIDs have been flickering for quite some time so today I finally swapped them out with new Morimoto bulbs. Next, I'm going to raise the car a bit so I can actually enjoy driving it, and then I'll be swapping some little stuff out here and there over the next few months.
I need to do a transmission service (3x3 and 3rd/4th gear pressure switches) sometime soon as well. The car drives fine, minus the horribly cupped rear tires, but I need that transmission to last as long as possible.
Besides the car, Mitzi and I have saved enough for our honeymoon but we're considering putting that money towards a house. Our one bedroom apartment is pretty small and I hate not having anywhere to wash my car. Plus, building equity in a house appeals more each day compared to renting and getting nothing back. We've just started our search and hope to have a basic, cheap starter home before we have to renew our lease in July.
I can't afford a new car but I'm always looking. I fell in love with the new GTI at the Charlotte Auto Show but I'm scared of owning German. All I hear are horror stories but lawd I loved that car. The new WRX was impressive too but it looks like a Corolla from most angles.
Like Jason, I just want Audi to bring back a proper A4 Avant. None of this allroad crap.

My car is running good, just not looking good. i have a list of things I need to do, cold weather makes me stray from projects....CF hood is on and looks great but needs to be repositioned to the right a tad to get gaps even, i need to widen the holes on the OEM brackets an 1/8 inch, nothing super hard, just keep putting it off even though i stare at it every day. i randomly got bad condensation in one headlight, another small project that needs attention. I still need to rewrap the front bumper from the accident and the damage done from elm ln, just waiting till weather warms up. gonna rewrap the rear as well, I need to work on filling in the exhaust cutout better. elm lane is now g2g, they paved over their previous imperfections, not only did it crack my bumper but it bent the aluminum front splitter pretty bad. im thinking this spring of buying another sheet of alumalite and making a duplicate. the smallest sheet is still pretty damn big, i could make 2 splitters out of it, if anyone wants the other half of the sheet they can have it

Tyler... wow lots of Happenings for you this year. New job location, getting a house, and getting married all coming up. Shat! Mad props.
Ben... I'm glad elm is finally done. That was some bullshit. Well actually I don't even think they're done yet. And I'm with you on the cold weather..usually makes me stay inside and not do any car mods. Spring is when things start to get modified haha. I will take that sheet off your hands if you aren't gonna do anything with it. I've been looking for a material to use to make a splitter and I really like what you did with yours.

Thanks homie. The house isn't guaranteed but we're trying to make it happen! We need to get pre-qualified from a lender first and such. It just seems like every house that we see and like is already under contract. Fugg.

We are looking at pretty basic homes right now, 3b/2.5b 1200-ish square feet. It just seems like everything that's available today is under contract tomorrow. The realtor we've been talking to said that's typical of this area

Thanks Jason! We want to stay in the Indian Trail area. It's fair for both of us commute wise and we like the lower taxes in Union County.

So it may be something to consider. Plus, builders have typically been aggressive with their financing. If you go the traditional route, a good friend of ours is a mortgage broker and another is a realtor... so if you need either, let me know

The houses that fall into that price range are kind of in the sweet spot. Not sure what your exact budget is, but there are a bunch of new communities popping up in the Matthews & Waxhaw areas that you may want to look into. When we bought our first home we were looking at older houses, but found a brand new construction town home. It was a bit more but the construction time allowed us to save for an extra 10 months, and in the end our mortgage wasn't that much more than it would have been on an older home. The other plus is that once the community was finished, prices shot up. Same thing happened here in Waxhaw, especially since we got in early during construction, so we got great pricing. People hear new construction and automatically assume they can't afford to build... but you may be surprised...
So it may be something to consider. Plus, builders have typically been aggressive with their financing. If you go the traditional route, a good friend of ours is a mortgage broker and another is a realtor... so if you need either, let me know

As of right now we are trying to find a house that would cost us about the same amount per month as renting our 1-bedroom apartment at $808/mo, so our house budget is about $130k. Not much whatsoever but it'll be a great starter home for us to build some equity in. Kids won't be happening for a while so we can get away with a smaller home for now
We found a neighborhood close to us that we're in love with; new construction all-brick ranches with 2-car garage, bonus room above the garage, 3b/2.5b, ~2100 square feet. However, for our first home, we don't want to over extend ourselves and be house poor.
Indian Trail is preferred but we've looked at some houses in Monroe as well. Waxhaw would be fantastic for my fiancee who works in Marshville but would be horrid for my commute way up to Lexus near Moorsville. I'm not ruling that area out but it's not preferable either.
As of right now we need to visit a bank and get pre-qualified for a loan. I'm hoping to qualify for the first time homebuyers program so our down payment doesn't have to be much. We have an account at SECU so we'll most likely go there first, but I'm not sure if there is anywhere else we should look for a good mortgage. The realtor we're working with says her husband is a mortgage broker and we might go through him.
So much "what-if" and uncertainty with this whole process

Just poking my head in here.
I got rid of my X1 just before Christmas for an M3. Convertible, 7-speed DCT, no Nav, no heated seats, no EDC. Kept it simple and I'm very happy with that. My Accord has been very trouble-free so far. I'm thinking about doing the Hondata reflash (3900 rpm VTEC engagement + 7300 Redline). Still getting 34 miles to the gallon highway as a minimum. Great long distance car, even with the cloth seats.
Now saving for this house refinance before I plan a summer trip to Alberta/Northwest Territories.

I'm actually looking up oxygen sensors on ebay for once. They appear to be much cheaper on there than autozone is asking. I called them and they said $377 for all 4 after tax.

The Charger is running great. Just looking for a Friday/Saturday with nice weather to get these suspension parts in.
Tyler, definitely do the house over the honeymoon. A trip is like rent, you have nothing to show for the money afterwards. Get the house, save up, and take a nice trip next year. Good luck with the search. I have always hated house hunting; it takes so much time. And half of the time, the pictures don't tell the whole truth. It was better the second time around, but still not something I particularly want to do again.
