So Accord 2.0T has the same HP as the TLX V6 but with more torque, it can be had with a 6MT or 10AT vs ZF

Well something weird is going on here. How the fuck did Road and Track get such low power numbers for the 2.0 turbo, while Hondata is getting way above even claimed crank power numbers?
Sounds like road and track really shit the bed on the test. Though I wonder if each test was done in a different gear- aka, I wonder if the Accord limits power being put down in the first couple gears. I really hope that isn't the case... and if it is... hopefully it is easily disabled or removed or whatever.
If the the Accord is putting down 265hp at the wheels, accounting for 10-15% drivetrain losses, the Accord is putting down anywhere from 291hp to 304hp, at the crank.
If the Accord is putting down 301lbft of torque at the wheels, accounting for 10-15% drivetrain losses, the Accord is putting down anywhere from 331lbft to 346lbft of torque, at the crank.

Hondata uses church tuning dyno. It is closer to crank power than whp. Just look at hondata baseline for the stock gen x civic. It read closer to crank power than whp
Also there is a way to disable the warning lights since it cutting power to the front wheel because the rear wheel are not spinning. On the ctr. They had to put it on dyno mode

That's good to know! Either way, those numbers are shockingly close to the Type R. Horsepower is down a bit, but the torque is all there. I bet with an intake, exhaust, and a hondata retune... man... that would be one fun daily driver!
The accord is heavier than the civic so even if it was at type r power it would still be a tad bit slower. Need to be over type r power. But with all that tq it should be really fun to drive around town
I am surprised no one has done that yet.
Since different dyno machine will give different #s, i am not sure how accurate are those 260hp/300lb of torque figures.... but i would put my $ on 2.0T against the old J35 in a drag race....

why would TLX owners care? I am happy the new Accord puts down good power. It needed to compete with the new Camry. Kinda gives me an idea what the new RDX will put down, which will be more.
I’ll never trust numbers from the type of dyno that hooks up to the hubs vs the roller types. Just something about it makes me think the results aren’t a real world power to the ground reflection. Regardless doesn’t the Type-R have a limited slip? Does the Accord 2.0? I’m sure that’d make a huge difference in actually putting the power down.
As a former Accord V6 owner it’s exciting to think a turbo four banger could make bigger numbers than a V6, but one thing it won’t be able to match is exhaust note. I absolute loved the sound that V6 emitted from a custom exhaust , and from the front with an aftermarket intake. Turbo cars are naturally quieter than NA versions and the biggest complaint about the Type-R is how anemic the exhaust sounds. Most aftermarket exhausts on a four banger, well, we all know how they sound. Nothing can beat the sound of displacement IMO. Small beans for most though I suppose.
^that i agree with you. You can't reproduce the sound of a bigger displacement, which is why I personally would still get the V6 over 4 banger turbo.
But it does not change the fact that 4 banger turbo is out performing the V6... easily and we are not even talking about the potentials.... How much power you can get with $600 for a N/A V6? 10..15hp tops? vs.... you know a simple tune will put you into the next league.

I'm thinking R&T got the 10spd and couldn't dyno it properly where Hondata got the 6spd 2.0 and were able to pull out numbers better. The 10spd trans isn't going to do well trying to dyno it because of the way its programmed.
But this is another piece of evidence of Honda hiding numbers for the good. Lol. The Type R has been putting 295whp consistently. Which begs one to ask is it really putting 306hp to the crank or is it more?

Just line them up at a drag strip and we will see what happens.

Different platforms completely, but the 2.0 TFSI gets 100+ TQ to the crank with an APR tune .. I'd imagine Honda's 2.0T platform will perform similarly.

Running 87, getting more features and similar performance, I'll take the Accord.
The 2018 Accord Touring 2.0T goes for MSRP $36690 and averages $34988. If you wait another month or so, you'll be able to snag it for invoice which is ~$33k.
Even right now, I'd much rather pocket the $7k and put it towards something else than pay the premium for a worse product. Hell, I'd pay more to not have the idiotic dual screen interface right now. Neither car is going to get driven hard enough ever to warrant having AWD for performance traction. For everything else, a good set of tires should mitigate it. Also, if you want a 6MT then your decision is made.
According to Truecar in my area, the TLX AWD Advance goes for MSRP $46700 and an average sell price of $42250

The only thing you'll be mainly missing from the Touring is the Remote start, NFC(Near Field Communication), Navigation, full LED headlights, heated and ventilated seats front and no heated seats in the rear. If you can deal without those, which I'm sure someone wanting something sporty will be fine without, then you'll be fine and save some money. You'll be putting more power to the ground and have some great features. Still more features than the TLX and have the 6MT you want.
