2018 Accord 2.0T dyno results

265hp and 300lbft at the wheels.

Well time to get an accord lol

mrmako 12-23-2017 09:01 PM

Now if they would only do this on an AWD platform.

Hondata has a very trusted reputation in the Honda game. Why would they lie? Why would they bullshit the dyno results?

AZuser 12-23-2017 10:42 PM

So Accord 2.0T has the same HP as the TLX V6 but with more torque, it can be had with a 6MT or 10AT vs ZF :ugh: , has more modern tech, has better looking interior layout, is available with HUD, is less expensive,....

Geez Honda, why do you keep making Acura look bad.

TacoBello 12-24-2017 12:25 AM

Well something weird is going on here. How the fuck did Road and Track get such low power numbers for the 2.0 turbo, while Hondata is getting way above even claimed crank power numbers?

Sounds like road and track really shit the bed on the test. Though I wonder if each test was done in a different gear- aka, I wonder if the Accord limits power being put down in the first couple gears. I really hope that isn't the case... and if it is... hopefully it is easily disabled or removed or whatever.

If the the Accord is putting down 265hp at the wheels, accounting for 10-15% drivetrain losses, the Accord is putting down anywhere from 291hp to 304hp, at the crank.

If the Accord is putting down 301lbft of torque at the wheels, accounting for 10-15% drivetrain losses, the Accord is putting down anywhere from 331lbft to 346lbft of torque, at the crank.

thisaznboi88 12-24-2017 02:37 AM

Hondata uses church tuning dyno. It is closer to crank power than whp. Just look at hondata baseline for the stock gen x civic. It read closer to crank power than whp

Also there is a way to disable the warning lights since it cutting power to the front wheel because the rear wheel are not spinning. On the ctr. They had to put it on dyno mode

TacoBello 12-24-2017 12:13 PM

That's good to know! Either way, those numbers are shockingly close to the Type R. Horsepower is down a bit, but the torque is all there. I bet with an intake, exhaust, and a hondata retune... man... that would be one fun daily driver! :vtec:

thisaznboi88 12-24-2017 02:40 PM

The accord is heavier than the civic so even if it was at type r power it would still be a tad bit slower. Need to be over type r power. But with all that tq it should be really fun to drive around town

charliemike 12-25-2017 09:36 AM

I rode in one last night and while the seats are total garbage because they are uncomfortable, the car itself is really nice.

Really impressed by it.

Ahhh, turbskis are beautiful things.

Just line them up at a drag strip and we will see what happens.

I am surprised no one has done that yet.

Since different dyno machine will give different #s, i am not sure how accurate are those 260hp/300lb of torque figures.... but i would put my $ on 2.0T against the old J35 in a drag race....

why would TLX owners care? I am happy the new Accord puts down good power. It needed to compete with the new Camry. Kinda gives me an idea what the new RDX will put down, which will be more.

oonowindoo 12-26-2017 05:29 PM

Not only Accord offers better technology, now it is also offering better performance for less $$.... Shit if i were TLX owner, i would be hatting too....

SuperTrooper169 12-27-2017 08:42 AM

I’ll never trust numbers from the type of dyno that hooks up to the hubs vs the roller types. Just something about it makes me think the results aren’t a real world power to the ground reflection. Regardless doesn’t the Type-R have a limited slip? Does the Accord 2.0? I’m sure that’d make a huge difference in actually putting the power down.
As a former Accord V6 owner it’s exciting to think a turbo four banger could make bigger numbers than a V6, but one thing it won’t be able to match is exhaust note. I absolute loved the sound that V6 emitted from a custom exhaust , and from the front with an aftermarket intake. Turbo cars are naturally quieter than NA versions and the biggest complaint about the Type-R is how anemic the exhaust sounds. Most aftermarket exhausts on a four banger, well, we all know how they sound. Nothing can beat the sound of displacement IMO. Small beans for most though I suppose.

oonowindoo 12-27-2017 02:16 PM

^that i agree with you. You can't reproduce the sound of a bigger displacement, which is why I personally would still get the V6 over 4 banger turbo.

But it does not change the fact that 4 banger turbo is out performing the V6... easily and we are not even talking about the potentials.... How much power you can get with $600 for a N/A V6? 10..15hp tops? vs.... you know a simple tune will put you into the next league.

TylerT 12-27-2017 02:26 PM

I miss my 7G Accord ..., so sad I wrecked it years ago.

oonowindoo 12-27-2017 03:02 PM

you have a 400hp S4.... no, you dont miss your accord :D

I'm thinking R&T got the 10spd and couldn't dyno it properly where Hondata got the 6spd 2.0 and were able to pull out numbers better. The 10spd trans isn't going to do well trying to dyno it because of the way its programmed.

But this is another piece of evidence of Honda hiding numbers for the good. Lol. The Type R has been putting 295whp consistently. Which begs one to ask is it really putting 306hp to the crank or is it more?

TL-GIXXER 12-27-2017 08:40 PM

I miss my Accor..... Nah. I dont :)

Don't worry, eventually Honda technology will trickle down to Acuras.

Really impressed by it.

I've driven the 2.0T auto and was impressed. Checking out the manual today. If this thing is good, it may be my next ride as it's bigger, more practical, and a lot cheaper than the Golf R. That would allow for more Jeep budget. :excited:

I'll sell you ours...would be a great DD over the fit. :ninja:

TylerT 12-28-2017 10:41 AM

And ... that's bone stock

Different platforms completely, but the 2.0 TFSI gets 100+ TQ to the crank with an APR tune .. I'd imagine Honda's 2.0T platform will perform similarly.

Hondata has already tuned the Civic Si to +40wtq with everything else stock. This new Accord could very well be a sleeper hit...if only it came with a front LSD though.

$50,083 w/Advanced package, SH-AWD, V6, Tech package, and All Season Mats

$37,011 Touring 2.0T with Sport Grille, All Season Mats, Interior Illumination, LED Puddle lights, Trunk Mat, Door Visors, and 2.5amp USB charger for rear.

Running 87, getting more features and similar performance, I'll take the Accord.

TylerT 01-02-2018 02:30 PM

Welp, that settles that.

Nexx 01-02-2018 03:44 PM

50k? for an Advance? I think youre about 5k too high.

I'll take a $45k Advance SH-AWD TLX that you can buy now for around $40k over a $37k front wheel drive Accord.

According to Truecar in my area, the TLX AWD Advance goes for MSRP $46700 and an average sell price of $42250

The 2018 Accord Touring 2.0T goes for MSRP $36690 and averages $34988. If you wait another month or so, you'll be able to snag it for invoice which is ~$33k.

Even right now, I'd much rather pocket the $7k and put it towards something else than pay the premium for a worse product. Hell, I'd pay more to not have the idiotic dual screen interface right now. Neither car is going to get driven hard enough ever to warrant having AWD for performance traction. For everything else, a good set of tires should mitigate it. Also, if you want a 6MT then your decision is made.

00TL-P3.2 01-02-2018 04:30 PM

Also, given you can get the 2.0T 6MT in the Accord Sport, that makes the entry price even lower. At the expense of a few features, I'm sure.

There you go. The TLX V6 w/Tech and Advance packages and all season mats gave me that price. Directly from Acura's website to build it. And that price doesn't include destination and handling either. Another $600-800.

SamDoe, You're right. If you want a 6spd, you won't be picking up a TLX either.

There you go. With the 2.0T Sport 6spd, you're sitting around $31k with the same accessories. The only thing you'll be mainly missing from the Touring is the Remote start, NFC(Near Field Communication), Navigation, full LED headlights, heated and ventilated seats front and no heated seats in the rear. If you can deal without those, which I'm sure someone wanting something sporty will be fine without, then you'll be fine and save some money. You'll be putting more power to the ground and have some great features. Still more features than the TLX and have the 6MT you want.

Don't forget about the glaring lack of leather seating in the Sport model; that's a deal breaker for many, myself included.

FWIW, the 2.0T sport model does come with heated front seats and a sunroof over the 1.5T model. Also, if you plan on getting the MT you won't be getting a remote start regardless of what car you buy. And the navi can, and should, come from your phone via Android Auto/CarPlay.

I'm the exact opposite, I hate heated seats but will not buy if the seating surfaces aren't leather.
