Ignition stuck

there have been a few times when I cannot turn my ignition switch to start the car on my 2006 RL. I keep trying and eventually it will allow me to turn it all the way so the car will start.
What causes this to occur? What can I try to get it to turn all the way so I can start the car?

Is your cellphone in the same pocket as the fob while you start?

If there's interference with the fob, if i recall correctly, the car won't let you start it. It needs to detect the fob which a cell phone or a magnet can interfere.

Ignition stuck

RL9,
Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure where the cellphone was yesterday when I tried it. It’s possible it was close by. There is a magnet glued to the dashboard near the ignition switch. But it’s always been there.
I will move the cell phone near the fob and see if that causes the ignition to not turn all of the way.

i find that sometimes the steerimg wheel is locked and just needs to be moved a bit while turning key. The first time I thought something was wrong because the key would not turn.

Ignition stuck

good idea, I’ll try it. It happened once or twice in the past and I may have moved the wheel and didn’t realize that it fixed it.
Thanks

What he said, especially if you make a tight turn into a parking spot just before turning the car off.....worse if you're on an incline.

If it's not happening a lot, just intermittent, it's a high chance it's interference.

A Fob battery change too could help. But next time if it happens, just move the fob away from anything electronic and try again to see.
