Unhappy help 99 tl with key stuck in ignition

I just bought a 99'tl and I only got one key from the dealer. I had a spare key made at the hardware store (mistake #1). My lil sis tried to warm the car up this a.m. with the spare key (mistake #2). The spare key opens the door and turns in the ignition but does not start. When I put the master key next to it the car starts. My problem is I can't get the spare key out of the ignition.
HELP PLEASE.

Talking why don't you try some teflon, ron!

j/k:p i don't get it? a spare key cut at the hardware store is in the ignition and stuck, but when you put the main key next to it , it starts? whatever the case, have a nice drive to the dealer! keys are cut special...

Well the reason it won't start is because your key is coded with a chip that is read when you put it in the ignition. The reason it starts when you put the master next to it is probably because somehow the chip can be read by being that close.

:o Ha ha kman156 off to the dealer I go monday. No sympathy from a fellow Giants fan. I just hope they can just get the key out and don't have to rip the ignition apart.

of course you have my sympathy, but if you come back and tell us that they sprayed some teflon into the ignition switch to get the key out, i'm gonna have to laugh!

how can you say it's not a problem? I had the same thing happened to me and my ignition was changed. My dad tried to start my car with the same type of Key(I made it to test out my alarm after remote start was installed). Well I guess he turned it pretty good and the key got stuck and my ignition had to be changed.

Did your steering wheel locked? If it's not lock and you still can't pull it, you might want to call the locksmith. As far as getting a spare, you need to go to the dealer because the TL keys has a chip inside and hardware stores don't stock high tech stuff like that.

The wheel didn't lock. I can turn the key and drive the car if I put the transponder key in close proximity to the ignition while turning the stupid hardware store key.

LOL Would be funny if you had a son or something and the original key (w/ chip) is in the center console and some person took it or started playing with it and all of a sudden the car just stops lol especially on Freeway... OK I guess its not funny but sucsk for you if that happens lol...

went to the dealer to day and got the key removed. The guys at Curry Acura were cool (as in they didn't laugh in my face) Big up to John Skopetos. got the key out and only charged $44.00. Some poor guy was in there with a cl with the hids ripped out w/all kinds of damage to the hood and bumper. :wow:
