Tapping in map light from side mirror (puddle light)

I wanted to add puddle lights in my side mirror, what would be the best way to tap in the map light, so it would work as that functionality... (turning on when car is unlocked, door is opened, dims when lock button is pressed on key fob).

any advice is appreciated.

tap into the door light on the bottom so that way it turns the puddle light on when you open the door.

That won't work.. if you want that then take it from something which lights up when you lock / unlock. So yeah, the map light. gonna be much more annoying to do though.

yeah tap into the map lights, Shouldn't be that hard, it's just a few feet of wire, bring it down through the pillar, feed it through the door grommet and you are set.

Except of course that the A pillar has side curtain air bag stuff in there.

I see a future soupi post "how do I roll up the side curtain and stuff them back into the pillar" or "I was in an accident and the side curtain deployed, but collapsed because it got caught in a wire"

lol I am sure he is not going to be using 0 gauge wire to power the led lights that it will cause such impact, but I see your safety concern.
I routed my power cable for my rear view back-up camera mirror through the A pillar using 18 gauge, you don't have to take off nothing, the wire is basically hidden behind the plastic lip/seal, to mess with the curtains you would have to take off the cover.

But like everything else in life, do at your own risk.

All of the excess wire and the lighter plug fit easily behind the kick panel. I mounted the power pro with the provided double sided tape.
