I got hooked into this new smartphone and tablet stuffs recently and bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0" Student Edition from Costco yesterday. Don't really need it since we already have iPad2, but the size is really handy compared to bigger iPad. And this Student Edition package is a limited production
Now.. should I sell the iPad or just keep it for collection? haha..

main reason we bought ipad2 when it first came out was to replace duty of my aging Dell laptop and wife's Sony Vaio Netbook that we mainly used for web browsing, pay bills, youtube, download movies, and for traveling. after few months of actual use, we thought it was still bulky to carry around everyday and it stayed home most of the time.
benefit was instant access to web (no boot time), not having to plug it into charger often like laptops, and it replaced all the duties that we were doing on laptops. plus even though it was little bulky, it was much better than carrying laptop or netbook around. downside was little bulky for everyday carry around use, no physical keyboard, and not compatible with flash based websites.
this is the Galaxy Tab2 i bought. comes with physical keyboard and usb connector for mouse or usb drives. hard decision which one to keep since having two tablet is unnecessary.

So lets see I have, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPhone 3, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4s, HTC One X, Macbook, Mac Mini, iMac, LOL damn
We use the iPads at night all of the time and we always take them on vacation simply because of the form factor. Britt uses the mini for blogging and what not, I use my iMac for work of course.
I love my android ICS One X, using that for more and more now and wouldn't mind the Galaxy Tab 10.2 with the stylus!! pimpin... But with two iPads, do I need more? lol
Um laptop is for work trips so yeah... I have lots-o-apple toys... but didn't wait for iPhone 5 and glad I didn't cause it doesn't seem to be that great...

entirely depends on what you want to use it for.
If I am just surfing the web, facebook, twitter, farting around on azine, light e-mail then the tablet by far.
If I am doing heavy e-mails, more than two paragraphs I prefer a physical keyboard to the screen. However you can always get a keyboard for the tablets, like iPad for example is compatible with the Apple bluetooth keyboard.
However, if you wait for the Windows Surface tablet it comes with a keyboard integrated into the case. Plus the OS looks like a real win for a windows OS.
You can also do the galaxy tab like Min pointed out with keyboard, or the new 10.2 galaxy tab that has hand writing recognition with the stylus, now that'd be awesome! can you see why I want on now?
I would go with the new iPad if I was going with Apple, the processor is faster than iPad 2 and the graphics are top notch. As for the android tablets it has to be the galaxy series all the way. Then there is always surface... haven't had my hands on that yet, don't think it's out yet.

That Windows tablet's keyboard looks like iPad's cover integrated with keyboard. Now thats some innovative design.
I'd prefer iPad since Apple products are must have trendy items But for money and functinality wise, I'll choose Galaxy series. One bad thing with Galaxy series though is its confusing model line up. Even after hours of research I get confused between Galaxy Note 10.1 vs Galaxy Tab 10.1. Same screen size, similar processor, whats the big difference? I think the "Note 10.1" is the one with stylus and "Tab 10.1" is without.
I like my wife's Galaxy s3 with ICS too. Wasnt fond of Android system but ICS is good looking for sure. But I think I'll wait another year for phone upgrade since I just took over wife's iPhone4 32gb (mine was 16gb) and got it carrier unlocked throuh Applenberry for $45 today. Wonder how all these unlock businesses are factory unlocking iPhones.
And Chris, whats up with all those old iPhones and iPad1? Did you just kept all of them without selling in used market? I just sell mine if I get a newer one.

The Tab is a tab.

The note 10.1 is only a tablet, I think what makes it different than the Tab 10 is the stylus and hand writing recognition.
What's confusing is there is also a Note which is a cell phone too! but not the 10.1.
You can see them both here:

Yea, regular Galaxy Note is a huge phone with screen bigger than 5" which my wife might want once Note2 gets released.
So.. these are what people call Phablet (Phone+Tablet) these days.
Galaxy Note
Galaxy Note2
And Samsung has a series of Galaxy tablets..
Tab2 7.0
Tab2 10.1
Tab 7.0 Plus
Tab 7.7
Note 10.1
