Won't fit. 5X120's on 4G TL
Nice work. Wish I the patience to work on the car. I can't even get a new horn and relay installed...
Should have done it while I had the intake out. Mr lazy.

no I took a job with an agency as a director. Right now I am a Sr. Designer for a SaaS start up. The agency is headquarted in Palo Alto CA, I'll be working remotely with their clients, designers and developers from my home here

replaced mid muffler with straight pipe this afternoon. mid muffler was a straight flow design, but engine response became dull after the change. will have to drive around more for ecu to relearn the changed exhaust flow. can mid muffler be restrictive even though its straight flow design? hmmm..
#7733
muffler or resonator? i guess both are pretty much the same all its doing is changing the vibration and engine noise.. dont think it really would effect the hp much.. maybe 1 or 2? specially if you are going a bigger size

Don't laugh.
Changed my oil + filter on my own for the first time with this car. Well, I've had the car 4 years, and when I bought it I bought a 3 year extended warranty, so I let RTA do my oil changes and subsequent inspection to see if we could get some use out of that warranty (we didn't, really) so they did the first 3 oil changes.
Anyways, I didn't know that the Honda Genuine filter is actually smaller than the Fram filters you can buy. I tried using one of those filter wrench/caps on it, but it was too small, so bought some cheap filter pliers. RTA really torqued the filter down quite a bit. I'm not much of a pussy, and I couldn't loosen it with both hands. I ended up using the pliers and gumming the hell out of the casing/housing/whatever. I mean, the rubber seals in oil filters are pretty tough, but kinda crap they'd tighten it down THAT much... it definitely wasn't nearly as tight as the fill bolt for my ATF (had to be torqued to like 90 ft/lbs) I have no clue why they gotta torque it like that.
Anyways, that was my day.

Its the oval one circled, not the round long tube.
I cut out to increase the exhaust tone and wasnt expecting any performance benefit. Now it has little more pronounced tone and can hear the exhaust sound tiny bit in the cabin without any drone that I hate
But it sure did changed the exhaust flow as well even though that mid muffler was straight flow design. I had a little hesitation going into 3000+rpm from any engine speed below 3k rpm. Now, that hesitation is gone and it responds the same way as if when exhaust backpressure was relieved (But not as much as full catback system).
Another benefit is smoother transmission shift from 1st to 2nd. I don't remember my 2005 TSX having this hard shift (jerking) from 1 to 2, but the new one sure did shifted crap from 1-2. Changed out to new tranny fluid but that didn't help. But when I installed the high flow cat, that shift got noticeably smoother. And after this mid muffler delete with decreased backpressure, shift got more smoother again.

im sure that second muffler was blocked up but the resonator probably wasnt the issue..
typically driving i dont have a hard shift.. if i sport shift and i shift between certain RPMs and its a slow climb in the rpms ill get a noticeable shift but i think its cause im under those conditions.. i also have an engine tq tamper which makes you feel everything too

i was honestly suprised i had one come out so quickly only took 4 times before i got it dialed in.. compaired to my 15+ times with the spark plug cover.. huge learning curve difference.. i am going to try and get a couple more done for selling then on to do my sattalite antenna that i showed ya and my front hood chrome peice then after that its just here there things.. whatever comes my way..
we still doing the rotors this weekend? is saturday going to be ok?

if you think you can handle it my house with a lesser amount of tools, I'm good with it. You're helping with the work, so if you are more comfortable at home I can make the drive. Though the brakes will be hot, in fact I drove in today and that brake was smelling something terrible, and I wasn't even driving hard, just coasting.

Brandon, let me know when another dbw cover is done. I'll pick up both pieces at once.
And.. I think the ecu is fully dialed in now. Can't believe the change it made by just replacing mid muffler with straight pipe (no mental, no buttdyno ).
Here's the change after the mid muffler delete.
1. Engine revs much easier. Hesitation @ 3k rpm is totally gone.
2. Auto tranny going into 2nd from 1st is alot smoother now.
3. Some weight saving.
4. Maybe little more low end torque (this one can be mental thing with smoother transition of gear and easier revving engine).
Probably this is the best mod under $50 for the tsx. And that tranny hesitation/jerking problem from 1st to 2nd can be related to the exhaust flow since the shift smoothed out as the exhaust backpressure decresed.

perhaps the slush box variety could get improvement from modifying the OEM exhaust, I know on my MT that when I went from the OEM to the Comptech, my butt dyno showed no gain beyond looks and a more aggressive sound.
Even with the header and hi-flow cat at the time there wasn't a super noticeable difference in performance until the top quarter of the tach was hit, then you could slightly more pull.

^ nice!! i guess i am use to my exhaust =) I need flashpro for the car.. how about i trade you the parts for your flash pro? sound fair right? =) I also would like to change the tq converter out for a better one.. I say in 5 or so more years then ill be wanting to trade up the car

After few days I got the '08 tsx, I realized that 1-2 shift was rough. It was like holding a gear and shifted into 2nd with the uncomfortable jerk. Something that I never had issue with my previous '05 tsx.
I think that with increased engine output on '06+ models, oem exhaust and cat were bottlenecking the exhaust flow causing that jerk on auto tranny.
Brandon, you need new coilovers before the flashpro. Tein Flex with EDFC?? Haha

Got something for me to do? I need a better paying job. Sugar momma just learned she's taking a huge pay cut Jan 1st. I may need to give up alcohol.
When this has happened to me in the past, I slammed a big screwdriver through the filter and used the dual leverage of handle and blade to twist it.

done the old screw driver in the filter before.. i started changing my own oil after that..
