ceramic i know my hawk HPS pads make alittle dust but nothing like how it was with the ebc green stuff.. so i guess it also depends on what type of semi-metallic you go with

Yeah I was nervous about it, bu consumer reports rated the 09 pretty well and there wasn't a Japanese car that offered what the sport wagon did. Didn't want to spring for 30K on the TSX wagon brand new at the time. Haven't had any issues knock on wood

The culprits are those damn cement blocks serving as borders at my parking spot at my apartment. It's such a tight squeeze getting into my space, sometimes I barely see if I'm too close to them or not. Any ideas what to do about these? They are pretty deep. Could I just used that Dr.ColorChip stuff, gunk it on a bit, wetsand, then buff? I've never done anything like this before so I'm in the dark as far as wetsanding techniques, what to use to buff (I was thinking about getting a nice quality electric buffer anyways, so...) so if anyone could help
btw since I'll bet nobody could tell from the crap phone pictures, these scratches are on the underside of the front bumper. Well, kind of on the corner-underside. Nobody can really see it, but I definitely know it's there... Cost is not an issue, but I doubt this would get too spendy.

damn that blows donkey balls.. how deep are that scratches? does your finger nail drag on it? or is it just barely stopping on the scratch as your rub it across it? if barely rubbing you could wet sand it and put alittle touch up clear on it and it will be fine if not then you are looking at more touch up and more wetsand.. and if you take it to a paint place it will be about 300 to fix.. whole bumper fix is about 500 unless you go cheap..

It won't be perfect unless you take it to a shop, but the Dr. can get some pretty deep scratches looking OK if you do several passes a few days apart.

Haha makes much more sense..I was wondering why someone would supercharge an RDX over the turbo. Looks frickin sweet! I've always wanted a supercharger...now I know who to go to if I ever have enough money to buy it for the TL..lol

Clean it up really good and then hit it with DrColorChip, wait a couple days, then do another pass with the Dr. I'd repeat that until you are appeased (the scratch feels smooth). Then just hit it with some scratchx 2.0 to smooth it out.

and Iunno if I do want to take it into an autobody shop. The only autobody place I trust (keep in mind I haven't used a lot..) is J&M. Great work, it just takes a looooooong time. Then again with paint work it should take a long time...

Your scratch REMOVED the paint so a random orbital isn't going to help. Those only cover up clear coat scratches.
Even with my high-speed buffer I couldn't help you . But if you have other blemishes in the clear coat I can help you

Wow, really? Goes to show what little I know. I believed the buffer would just get rid of the roughness and kind of help to blend it all together. Give it a smooth surface to prep for the paint. I guess that would be the wetsand, though, right?

If you're going to paint it you have to wet sand it.
Once you remove the clear coat and the paint then there isn't much you can do but sand it and paint it. If you're sanding it you need to be really careful since you're not spraying it. You don't want to sand your good paint and all of those rock chip touch kits are going to do is let you cover up small imperfections and make them look close to perfect. The only way to get perfect results is to sand and level the surface all around the scratch, then spray it, clear it, polish it and wax it which is what a body shop will do. If you removed urethane on your bumper from the scratch (like gauged it out) they'd also probably fill it a bit so it was smooth again...

Also, anyone know a good place to get a good set of OEM rims? Been thinking about getting a set of 07 TL base rims, and RTA quoted me at some crazy amount for 4 wheels.

While you're there, you should have them install the front lip you're honna buy from me...lol. But seriously, I have an OEM front and Wings West rear that I never got to put on the TL before I traded it in. If you or someone you know wants it let me know
#7195
Well then I guess I'll probably take it in to a body shop. I guess the good thing is that I wanted to do something about the front bumper anyways since the last owner left a few unsightly scuff marks beside the license plate bracket. Maybe just replace the whole thing. Well thanks everyone for the help!

Problem is the only auto body shop I have any good experience with is J&M. They do exceptional work, but (1) it takes a loooong time and (2) I find that sometimes when they say "There's no way we can repaint that because...." it turns out repainting it was an option. Maybe not an option that would have made it look like the damage never happened, but still...
You should sell them for $1300 through ads in The Oregonian.
