there were a few more people there before these pics were taken but they had to leave. I left before they went to the mall to take these pics.

 

You know what you two need to stop complaining about the turnout of the meet have either of you seen a post by someone who actually attended say “Man what a waste of time.” or “That meet sucked more than anything has ever sucked in the history of sucking.” The answer is NO because I we all had a good time if the group had been bigger it would have been a nightmare coordinating and getting everybody to agree to go somewhere like we did when we went to lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. Now let’s look at the attendance numbers.

The midwest kinda blows for meets in general. Our meets arent any better lol. We had like 5 people for cars and coffee.

 

on our yearly meet we get about 40-50 cars. great turn up. mostly tl's, some cl's. very few tsx and rsx

Seems to me like the the people bitching are the ones that did not show. So Mr. Whiners we had a good time next time show up and then you can all you want about how poor the meet is. So and stop being suchand show up or shut up.

 

i was gonna show up but then i ran into some problems with teh law. so saving up for that so i can get it off my chest.

 

Mytl09- u havent been to the yearly meets we have at jims parking lot. its a huge turn out every time.

Well if it arrives on Saturday like FED EX says its gonna then i was planning on doing it on Saturday. If it doesn't then ill have to plan for another day.

 

I was planning on coming down to a meet in Chicago hopefully sometime this summer so you guys plan it and I'll make the trip whichever one you see best for making the trip.

So I walked outside today and noticed some things were up with my car... mostly the hood being jacked up extra, my grill completley punched in and wrecked, oh, and that JDM bumper I just spent $600 on buying and preping, all scratched up and paint fucked up.

I was so heated I almost fucking lost it, I looked and no note, so I figured some douchebad from my school hit n run, like they usually do..

Anyways, run up to the janitor, and he pulls up the security footage.

I should mention at this point that I do park in the WAAAYYYY back of the parking lot, and intentionally park behind this kid aero, cuz he drives a nice car and I know that he takes care of his shit..

Well the footage showed it was him, although everyone I was with figured he pulled away and someone tried doing donughts or something and hit me.

SO bad news- My front end is fucked
Good news- It wasn't too good before, and on top of that aero is the richest kid at school. When he isn't driving his Denali on 28's, he drives the R8 to school, so I have a feeling I will get taken care of.

And I thought about it, and figured out he doesn't have my cell number, so I am waiting til tomorrow to see if he is going to fess up or see what happens

That sucks matt. At least you didn't have the new hood or grill installed yet. Hopefully he isn't a d-bag about fixing it. You should take to the school administrators tomorrow about getting a copy of the footage just in case.

On a side note I learned that my TL is not faster than one of MN's honda accords......he ran away from me like I was in park! Caught up to him at a stop light and he said he's running a turbo'd hobbit racing motor that puts down 360 at the wheels! I was amazed at how quickly he hooked up with it though. It really made me want to supercharge my TL now!!!!! Watch out Bmeyer!

 

Manual accords are not to be messed with... I was doing some pulls with one, and through about 110 we were pretty even, but were I kinda hit a wall at 110, he pulled all the way through 130 no problem

 

6spd's are a whole diff car. auto sucks, never again will own an auto tl/cl. once u get into 4th gear in an auto u hit a wall. 6spds have non stop pull. suck an addictive thing. but then u get in trouble with the law

I saw you cruisin' today down Washington Ave. I also saw you cruisin' yesterday.

 

MT or AT... doesn't matter... they guy had you by horsepower and possibly weight. You have basically a stock TL with a CAI... even if you had a 6 speed you wouldn't be able to compete with someone who has about 150 MORE horses than you do. Especially if they can drive.

I personally beat a 2000 Honda civic SI that had all the bells and whistles with my basically stock dodge stratus but that was because the guy i was racing was a 6'9" 340lbs giant who had just learned to drive stick a couple of weeks before and could barely fit in the damn thing... lol. You can have all the power in the world but if you cant keep it on the ground its useless.... this time the guy was able to keep it to the ground. Kudos to you for trying though...

Agreed on everything you said! I watched him smoke a mustang before I tried so it wasn't a huge surprise that he beat me Hell I'd probably race a ferrari just to say I did it lol All in all he was a pretty cool guy when we were talking at the stoplight. I still can't figure out how he kept the power at the wheels without spinning them.....I mean there wasn't even a chirp when he launched!

Haha. I'd welcome a challenge... Though I'd think long and hard about boosting an automatic TL. It can be done, but the lifespan of the tranny suffers even more than the motor. Even with a tranny cooler.

On that note, I think I found about another 20-25 whp on my car the other day. Last time I was at the tuners, we pulled all of the timing out of the F/IC that we could and were still about 10+ degrees off from where I wanted to be. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I was browsing through the settings the other day. Turns out he bumped my MAP voltage clamp up. That means the ECU was actually seeing boost all this time and retarding the timing because of it.

I took a reading from my MAP sensor and updated the value in the F/IC. Now the car feels MUCH more smooth at all RPMs not to mention it pulls harder in every gear.

 

NOTE: It's not that I want to discourage anyone from modding their car... I'd take a look at what Level 10 (http://www.levelten.com/) has to offer. A guy I know had them build up the tranny in one of his automatic cars. Held up very well to the extra power.

I would pretty much agree with Bmeyer on boosting an AT. Look at all the work he has to put into his setup and he has a MT. My personal opinion is you need to think what you want to do with your ride. Are you going to take it to the track? Are you just wanting a little more pep? If you just want to boost your ride just to say you did then i wouldnt do it. I my self am a track guy. I have taken my TL to do autox and it was hella fun but it wasnt the same in an automatic. Lucky for me autox isnt all about how much power you have... its more about handling than power. Power helps but its not like drag racing. My first year of autox i beat a 2008 dodge viper. He had TONS of power but could not control it in the turns.

Bottom line is you can do anything with enough money... look at the grand prix... those come supercharged and you can only get then in AT. Guys are modding these things to get 500WHP but they keep the car in the garage and take it to the dyno just to show how much power they got. To me thats pointless. Why spend all that money for it to sit in the garage, or only take it out once in a while.

There are several mods you can do to the TL without going FI and still have fun. The other thing IMO is that any more than 300WHP in a FWD is not worth it because you will have a harder time keeping that power to the ground... and... you need to turn the car with the same wheels that are powering the car.
