hey guys, on saturday i'm moving down to radford to go to school for the fall and spring so i won't be hanging around the richmond area anymore and i'm not a piece of cake 2-hour drive from va beach either : ( but i will try to keep it real and make a few meets this fall, i especially can't wait for the next skyline drive meet but we will have to see... i will be busy the next few days but will try to keep on the thread.. ANYWAYS, enough said. adios amigos!

p.s. - i'll still have the TL at school so no worries ...except i can't wash it and keep it perfect like i could everyday of the summer ; )

Unhappy I'm Back

ok i am back in norfolk . I have the duty today and i need to wash my car after that 500 mile drive. I will be doing that tomorrow, i will be doing a full detail on the outside to hopefully get rid of some sratches. I am debating on getting it professionally done, but i like to do it myself. It relaxes me. plus i dont feel like spending that much money on someone else cleaning it.

Lightbulb Birthday Present

I just had a great idea. My birthday is on the 26th (3 days after the meet). I thought it would be a good idea if everyone got together and got me some thing nice. It wouldn't have to be too much or too nice, just some thing to show respect and love. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a new Tein SS suspension with EDFC. I figured it would be a great present to get someone like me. I dont think thats asking too much. So what do you think.

well i just got messed with for my tint for a serious first time real early this morning, there has been other times but i got away with it because of my FL plate. i was on base waiting for a call, i was parked in a parking lot. all of the sudden two cop roll up on me and after a few minutes finally decide to come to the car. i was told to roll my window down, so i started to roll down the back so he could see me, then he told me to stop and roll down the front, the back wasn't even 1/4 down. he started to go into crap about loitering and other stuff then he brought up that "my tint was waayyyy too dark for VA" and "if i leave base and a norfolk cop stops me, it will be a $110 fine plus court fees and i would have to get the tint removed". then he went about saying if the judge wanted to be an ass he could have to cop go outside to make sure it was off". I told hime that i talked to other police that said i was good due to my FL plate. he then went into shit talking about VA statute blah blah blah, and motor vehicle drive on VA highways is bound by the tint law and that the info i had was outdated. I guess this cop wanted to be an ass to someone. I had like 4 cops surounding the car. this guy was talking about someone trying to steal the car, someone hotwiring it, or some other criminal stuff. He must have been bored and watched me park my car without getting out. I was only parked for about 5 minutes. Damn base cops, have nothing better to do.

^^^ I am pretty sure that base cops can't do a damn thing about how your tint is. And since you have out of state plates they really shouldn't be bothering you about your tints. I remember when we had Marines to man the gates and all, rent a cops need to chill. Probably just mad cause you driving around such a nice car.

Base cops really have no teeth when dealing with things like that.......BUT, they MAY be able to limit your base access....

UNFORTUNANTELY, according to virginia law, you CAN get a ticket regardless of the state that your car is registered in.

I would look it up on Kelly's blue book to get a good range for how much it goes for. Have you looked at it to see if its in good condition?

oh well, i will be getting them redone after i get the moleskin. TNT is quoting me 250 for removal and replacing all windows. Which isn't that bad. I will be getting the 5% again and there will be a 35% part on the third brake light just so it looks kin of even across the entire rear window. I am getting everythign redone due to scratches and bublles that are starting to annoy me. I am not really worried about it. if i do get a ticket, i will not take my car to the court, i will go with someone else who has legal tint so i dont have to worry about it.

On KBB.com, it would go for 12K. Personally, I wouldnt pay more than 9K. From what I saw (though the window), it was in GREAT condition. I have visions of seeing that in my driveway beside my current TL-S.

I would say that 12k sounds about right. Just curious as to the color of it. I would love to have an ABP CL-S to park next to mine!

ON A SIDE NOTE.....
had to do it guys, had a family issue come up and now I cannot make it (I know, can't even make the event that I set up!). Anyway, I will really miss going to this meet but I have to go out of town. No death in the family or anything like that but I hope that you all have a great time. Let the rest of us know how it was, AND TAKE SOME PICS!!!!

time to revive this thread also, even though there are about 4 other pic threads.

I am glad i waited until today to drop the TL off at the dealer to get the alternator changed out. I dropped it off and the alternator is starting to sound really bad, the bearings are going in it. They give me this 09 TSX loaner which has no power and i really do not like the new style of Navi. The touch screen was soooo much better. Plus this car is way too loose. the lightest movement of the steering wheel shook the car. I really do not like it. There are more stuff but too much to get into. I hope i get the TL back tomorrow.

I went out to my car to go to the gym, i look at my wheels and of course i have a nice scratch on one of my back wheels. I got so pissed for about 30 seconds but then realized it was bound to happen. But damn i would of hope i could of had it on for at lease a whole week before having it messed up. Its not a curb rash cause i haven't came close to a curb haha. But oh well life continues even with a scratch hahaha.

Does anyone have any suggestions for having the Clear Bra installed? I'm dropping the car off on Saturday at AS for the system install and headrest monitors and I was thinking I should just have them do the clear bra too since they've done my tints on several cars and have never had a problem.

I have heard (no personal experience) that the worst part of having a clear bra is the edge of it catches the wax and you can't get rid of it. It is also said that your paint does not fade at the same rate under the bra as it does on the rest of the car.

True.. I'm just worried to hell about the rock chips. I was going to have the entire hood done, side skits and likely the front-grill. I want to do something with the front grill but I can't seem to come up with any suggestions for it. NBP was easy.. paint in and I was done. I'm considering having the grill painted NBP too but right now i'm sticking with the roof only.
