Siri Eyes to be released for ILX next week
"Honda recognizes the power of Siri Eyes Free to meet connectivity and convenience needs of its customers in a responsible manner"
Not trying to shit on technology or derail the thread, but Honda shouldn't say it's customers are being responsible by using a distraction.
Just curious, are you anti bluetooth headsets and just hand-free in general? Again, just curious not attacking your opinion.
On topic: It's awesome they're integrating Siri because I use mine quite a lot when I'm not driving already.
If you don't have Siri or hands-free then people are going to take their eyes off the road and actually look at their phone more so than they already do. I feel like Siri/hands-free does more good than harm.

I think handsfree while driving is a small step up from holding the phone up to your ear. The problem is the mental distraction it causes to do these things, and nothing will fix that. My view is that the majority of the general pubic are idiots and are terrible at driving. Adding all this technology so that people can safely be distracted is kind of an oxymoron.

Thank a lot! Installation does seem complicated, however.
Getting my oil change done as we speak.. tried to get service to install siri eyes and they tried to collect $65 to 'download' and 'install' an update for siri eyes..
They also wanted $49 to install fogs.. lmao..

I have a 2.4 premium. Acura Riverside lol.. I just figured they could do it while I was there getting the oil changed.. They told me they had to take the under lining off lol.. please.. It took me about 30 minutes to do it myself.. I probably spent 10 minutes alone using the jack stand to get the car up high enough since it's low now :/
I still haven't managed to get it installed in my car. We tried, but found that our laptop did not have the latest hands-free link software installed. Apparently, it's server side push and we did not receive the update till Friday morning. The guys were too busy to work on my car so I'll have to try it next week. As it stands, it looks like they are going to charge customers for this upgrade. It looks like at least 20 minutes of labor maybe 30 depending on how long it takes to perform the update.
I'll probably end up hustling a local dealer to get it installed at a lower cost.. I should have waited to buy the car till now and I could have hustled them for the free install like I hustled them for the all weather floor and trunk mats lol
$50 is Expensive to replace the fog light bulbs..
It took me less than 30 minutes to do it myself lol..
I contacted my local dealer, Chevy Chase Acura, on Saturday about the Siri install and they told me $150. I laughed at them. This is also the same dealership that charges $90 for a tire rotation.
Update: we finally got my Siri patch installed. Outwardly there is no change to the car at all. If you press and release the "talk" button, you initiate the normal voice control features built into the car. If you press and hold the "talk" button you initiate Siri. Of course, it also overrides the audio output on whatever source you are listening to. One change to the mobile device: while in operation the status bar changes to a purple color and the text messages are NOT displayed on the iPhone screen.
I already use Siri quite a bit for composing text messages, emails, and even this post. However, I can see that I need to brush up on Siri commands to make better use of the technology. Other commands that work well on the go are "remind me to" commands to add something to the task list. "Set a meeting with" commands for adding things to the calendar. Enjoy!

I really wish we could transfer navigation directions from the android or iphone to the ilx. Sometimes my navi wont find locations, like it will only let me type in BEV before auto filling in the rest but i want BEVMO and it wont find it. My phone will so I wish there as a button to transfer map directions on a navi app onto the phones app via bluetooth. Would be awesome!! But I could then see them freezing all phone access when the car is on so screw that.

Did you get the update installed at your Acura dealership? I got my ILX 2weeks ago, and would really like to get Siri working.

Hey Colin, given that the Premium is capable of the update, and given that the Base and Premium seem to have identical interfaces (aside from the XM), you think us Base-ers can install it?
Im tempted to give it a go, but...
It's even more frustrating that Acura Client Services cannot give a response other than the usual generic message...
