Interested in ILX, Mind a few basic questions?
Hi -- I am very interested in the ILX 2.4L Manual. I've been shopping around, reading all I can about them, and have a few questions --
First, '13 vs '14 - I've seen a list of changes, such as different material for the leather seats, and a better backup camera in the '14 model. Are there any actual significant changes to the structure of the car, the struts, spring rates, sways, or anything else I should know about? I am trying to decide whether to buy a used '13 or go for the '14.
Second, I've seen two sets of 17" wheels in some pictures, some 5-spokes, and the other are 10-spokes. I've never seen the 10-spoke actually on a car, or even shown on Acura.com. Are the 10-spokers some kind of Acura accessory wheel? This is a picture: http://www.acurapartssuperstore.com/...roducts_id=457
Last thing -- my impression is that a major update might be coming for the '15 model year. I'm wondering if I'd be better off waiting to see?
Thanks--I'm really looking forward to getting an ILX. I've had a 350Z for 10 years and family changes make the sedan a necessary change.

To answer your questions, there are no major chassis changes for the '14, just material changes and some trim adjustments standard between non-MMC model changes.
As for the wheels, 4cruizin' has them on his ILX and they are indeed a dealer accessory.
I suspect that the MMC should be coming but might not be as major or as soon as you think. There might be a few design changes and adjustments to chassis tuning, but until the TLX release is done, I would not expect to see the full MMC. There is a possibility that the MMC will include the new DI 4-cylinder that is being unveiled on the TLX, but I would not expect to see that motor on the ILX until the next FMC.

hey just to give you my opinion. i have the dynamic package which in canada gives you everything the tech package has plus the 6 speed k24if u live in the states you'll have to settle for that smaller screen... i have to say its an outstanding car inside n out except for one thing. gas mileage.. i can only speak for me.. i drive 50/50 city n hwy.. n i get max 480 km/tank..n i try my best every single fill to try n beat the last km/tank but iv never hit over 500...other then that its gorgeous.. i would say get the ilx once your ready i highly doubt the ilx is gonna have major changes for 2015 but one can only speculate. its there 2nd year and i can almost guarantee the only way the ilx will under go major changes like body style or motor is if the ilx goes to a 2nd gen..goodluck..
It depends where you live. If you live in Canada, '14 is definitely the one to get. It includes the Tech package (nav, ELS, homelink), which the '13 does not have and I wish I had waited an extra year. Outside of Canada, I don't think there are any differences between the '13 and '14 model of the Dynamic package, as they both include the Premium package.
But regardless of which year model you get, the 2.4L ILX is an amazing car and I absolutely love it; I'm sure you will too! I don't think Acura will make any significant changes to the ILX for the next few years, not even some Jewel Eye headlights

Coming from a 350Z, the ILX is a totally different ballgame but it's fun in its own way. You'll have a rev-happy 4-cyl that's tossable in the corners, gets 32+ mpg, and can accommodate the whole fam. 66k miles on mine so far and no issues.
CGTSX2004 hit it spot on about the wheels. OEM accessory priced at $1,732 for the set here at my local Arizona dealership.
Good luck and keep us posted!

And exactly what aomechmarine said. You cant tell if it is a 2.0 or 2.4 from the picture. I simply posted a shot of what can be done with a few inexpensive mods in hopes to get him to jump ship quicker.
just by reading what he wrote tells me and tells ne person that can read.. his concerns on buying the ilx. they are not about what lip he can put on the car.. maybe he does maybe he doesnt wish to modify the car but regardless thats not his main concern going by his questions... i get you think your car is the most beautiful ilx around and u wanna show it off everywhere. You can but u can boast on other threads..and your right u cant tell if it is a auto or 2.0... i mentioned it because itd be more helpful to get advice n opinions from dynamic owners with day to day experiences... and im sure if he wanted to see a modified ilx he would search for 1.. he wudnt need to start a thread to see a modified ilx..
usdmJON....I appreciate your photo post and trying to entice the OP from getting an ILX. I think that was a friendly post and I got your intention. Its unfortunate it led to a few inappropriate comment.
For the record, I think the ILX is a great car and I may be getting one as a second daily driver in the fall if the MMC occurs and brings the 2.4 in the automatic (or at least something a little more potent than the current 2.0). Having a TL and an RDX sitting in the garage and never exposed to the elements is not very smart on my part....so I might lease a ILX later this fall IF the MMC occurs and they bring something sweet to the table...if not, I might just lease a Civic

I wouldn't count on that before next year at the earliest. They will likely bump the 2.4L to the new DI motor that the TLX uses before adding the AT option (purely speculative on my part, but given Acura's track record, not inconceivable).
Things happened quick with this car--we bought one yesterday. It's a '14 2.4 MT in Polished Metal. It was a dealer demo car with 4400 miles on it. The price was right so we drive from the DC area to NY to take a look, and ended up buying it.
Initial impressions are that it's a *really* nice car. This is supposed to be the car I do not modify, but I already think it's going to need a sway bar upgrade and a Homelink mirror. Then I will stop (maybe)
.
Thanks for all your help! I am sure I will be posting more.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the community!
It's like a room filled with High School Cheerleaders up in here, but you learn to love it. The cat fights that take place add to the excitement from time to time.

OP great purchase.
Can you plug an oem homelink mirror or will it have to be aftermarket? I love mine so I highly suggest.
Is your stock mirror auto dimming as well?
And the sway is a great idea too. Just keep an eye on it. Weve got two users I believe running an eibach sway and a progress sway.
If youd ask me id go progress since I think theyll be easier to deal with.
Good luck and post some pics when you have some!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!!
I probably won't be able to get my hands on the OEM homelink unit, so I'm thinking of going with one of the Gentex mirrors. Has anyone done this install yet? I know technically you're supposed to run new wires for the 12V always-on power source but I'm wondering if I can just tap the map light power for that. For the ignition-switched power (for the actual dimming part of the mirror) I think I can just use the wires that are going to the current auto-dim mirror.

I'm not sure anyone has done that yet, to be honest I haven't seen a ton of these modded out yet. New model car, not a ton of support yet. The techs at my local dealer told me that they didn't recommend installing aftermarket electronics because the onboard computers were real sensitive and a lot of people have been having issues with their electronics once they go aftermarket. I was gonna install a full custom VIP table with Blue LED's, but the guy that was gonna build it for me was gonna hook it into the electrical system. Instead I just opted out of that and went with 3 Mini VIP tables (so far) that have blue LED's, but they are battery powered. I may say "eff it" later and just do it, but I'm gonna wait until more people give feedback on aftermarket stereo issues or other electronics accessories having issues. And yes, I know the "dealer" has a vested interest in pushing OEM products, but legitimately, there were a couple different people at different times having issues with stuff while I was there doing an oil change or installing stuff on the car.
