Anyone replace their footwell lights?

Do I have to just pull out the white lens/cover or do I have to remove the black casing? I tried to pull out the lens cover and the bulb seems to get stuck on the way out, don't want to inadvertently break something.

Thanks!

You have to pull out the black part of the casing, then turn the light cable.. it will come out that way. Don't try to remove the little white piece

I went to NextMod in Markham - they provided me with a replacement White LED bulbs.

I went to install the footwell bulbs and it ended up blowing the fuse.

You can change it. It's a 194 bulb.

Alright, thanks for the info guys. Really appreciate it.

And as far as blowing the fuse... Hopefully that doesn't happen to me. Getting all my bulb orders tomorrow. I'll see how it goes.

I too would like to change the lights.
I'm also having trouble changing the glove box light, I have the bulb, but I'm afraid to break anything

Subbed. I really don't like the amber-ish quality of the current footwell light...

Well, it was sort of a bust. I ordered this set from ijdmtoy:

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Super-Brigh...-acura-ilx.htm

And the LEDs aren't super bright at all. So far the stock incandescent bulbs are much more brighter than these LEDs. I inserted one footwell light and I tested it before putting the covers back on, was working fine, then I closed it all up and opened the door and thought the light wasn't working. That's how dim it is. No pictures worth taking because its like there is barely any light.

I also replaced the back passenger dome light and it too is much dimmer than the stock.

Kind of bummed, not so much because I wasted my money, but the whole back to the drawing board thing of searching for brighter LEDs.

There is this "wide angle" brighter set which I'm guessing I should've ordered instead but I didn't see this until now.

Though I don't want that to come off snobbish. You should call the store you ordered from and ask them to help you exchange and upgrade the package.

Thanks for the link Trentimus, I'll use those guys for my future LED buying. Spdandpwr, yes they were xenon white.

Anyway, an update, I ordered "super bright" blues shortly after my last post and finally got around to trying them out. Here are some pics:

Stock

With those dim xenon whites outside of the light casing to make it brighter alongside the stock passenger:

"Super bright" blues on driver alongside stock passenger:

Both sides blue. As you can see I ran into a problem on passenger side since the LED is unidirectional and long, its hitting left side of casing and causing shadow on right floor. I need to pull the light out and keep it in place or something.

Ah, I had the same color for my 98 civic. Including the dome and map lights. It looks great, but hard as hell to read anything inside.

I ended up removing the factory bulbs and put in LED strips instead. Wired in to the factory light harness so they only come on when the doors are open.

hey bro quick question - in the picture with the super bright wide angle blue led footwells, is that the brightness WITHOUT the little white and black bulb holder thing? Or is that with it on? I ask because I ordered the same ones, and they don't look exactly like whats on their website (blue base and blackhead around the LED). My led bulbs seem less bright then that - but similar. I have the little covers off tho.

Hmm, did you guys use the 194 bulbs? I took my car to IJDMTOY and told the worker they were 194s. He opened it up and said they were much smaller and were "c5s?" Bulbs for the cluster gauges. I got white, but they are dim as hell. I'm hoping to go back friday and either exchange them for blue to have a "tsx" feel or maybe get a super bright white

Yeah dude they ARE NOT 194's. Whatever smaller size he gave you is the correct size, but maybe not what you actually want. They come in different brightness levels and angles. I have (supposedly) the Super wide super bright ultra blue ones. I ordered them online tho and they look different from what is pictured online. Thats why I tried to see if Shigatsu could answer a couple of my questions. But if actually going there, make sure you take a look at the website first to know what to ask for. I would do recon if I was you. I would call customer service and act like a first time client (before you even go back) and then when you show up ask for what you want. Then if it looks like the pic or doesn't, you can call them on it to make sure it's right.

Quick walk-thru - 1) go to the website and click on Shop by Bulb Size
2) click on the 5mm T5 wedge base bulb pic
3) 3 bulbs pop up.
I ordered the ones that are $8.99. I ordered the ultra blue. Without the white and black little bulb housing, it is decently visible at night. They were less bright when I first installed. Guess they needed to break in a little or something. Still, in the OP's (final) pics, his seem brighter then mine. I also can't tell if his pics were taken at day or night. During the day, they are really not noticeable. I have the OEM Acura door sills and those are super bright and nice. They are pretty noticeable even in slight darkness.. I mean I even have 3m tint all around, seems like they should be brighter, so thats why i'm kinda complaining…

Ah I missed it when the guy told me. They were pretty skinny. I'm going back tomorrow morning to exchange the lights for brighter ones, or change the color. Also replacing the map lights for white ones to match the dome I changed.

Yeah! I went in today and exchanged the footwell lights to blue and got new license plate ones. As for the front map lights, the worker told me that they'd have to take it apart. So I settled for a warm white board for the dome to match. Also, for those who are having problems with their footwell lights not being bright enough, leave the white casing off. That was the issue for me
