what made you pick those tires?

 

One of the top rated summer tires on tirerack. Decent tread life for a summer tire. AZ and a bunch of other forums have a boner for them; mainly the all season version of these (DWS) since most people live places that actually get consistent snow.

 

They are great bang for the buck tire.. no doubt. Still a bit noisey but less noisey than factory Michelins

 

We should start a tire reco thread: If you don't mind a softer tire, the Toyo Proxy 4s were a great a/s tire. Snow performance was better than the stock michelins, in my experience (particularly in packed snow), the dry traction was better, but the cornering performance wasn't as good (tires would roll a bit). But, since they're quieter, they make a good dd tire for someone who doesn't push the car hard on backroads. The price was only $110 a tire, too.

 

I think my next step is a dedicated summer / winter tire setup.

After 3 days of ilx ownership and 3 days of research, I have come to a conclusion that there's not much out there in terms of modding besides that most of the aftermarket products for a 2012+ civic si will work.

From that, I have placed orders on:
Ct engineering short shifter
Flossy heavy weight shift knob
Bunch of LED bulbs (map, trunk, lic plate, reverse, footwell) from ddm
Apparently our dome lights are already nasty yellow-orange LED's.
H9 65w foglights (h11 stockers suck)
K&n intake

Already did the drl delete

Trying to do more research on coilovers. I don't want the tein street advance because its not a full pillow top, camber plated coilover and I'm hoping buddy club makes the N+ for the ilx. But for now, bc I hate the stock floaty-ness, I'm considering the H&r springs with the front/rear eibach anti roll bar kit.

Hate the tires and the rims are too narrow.

Gonna stop at my local tuner shop to check out some wheels. Thinking of SSR's or Works.. Something like 17x8.5s with 235/40/17. Anyone know if that's too wide? I have access to a fender roller so that won't be a problem if ill be rubbing just slightly.

Next on the list would be a rv6 catted dp and flashpro. Then probably upgrade the brakes.

 

I wouldn't go with springs given the fact that the car is equipped with these amplitude reactive dampers...I'd opt for coils. The part numbers between the ilx and si coils are the same for the tiens so I wouldn't be surprised to see that all si coils work for on the ilx. Hold off on getting the eibach bars until I install mine this saturday (FINALLY!). Want to be sure you guys are aware of any issues beforehand...you may actually opt for progressive's 22mm bar.

These dampers are miserable. If I hit uneven roads, they just bounce me up and the car gets all floaty. It's really unpleasant. I didn't mind it at first but after a few hours getting used to the car, I'm getting annoyed. I'll probably get the sways first and wait til a full coilover comes out. Hoping on buddy club or tein brings out an SS or SS-P fully adjustable coilovers

Nice! I don't know why I haven't noticed it. Screw the springs and I'll wait a bit on the tires (only 106 miles on them anyways), I'm picking these up now.

 

Let me know what price you find. There's a vendor that selling them for $1100 shipped if you can't find it for less.

 

My shop can put the order in as well for 1100 and it'll be there in 2-3 days. How come its showing up for only civic non-si models? Is there a difference?

Yeah, everywhere listed on other sites too, it lists "all models except SI"..
I wonder if there's its the swaybar difference but I know our 6mt's have similar suspension setup to the SI so I'm wondering if the coils only work on the 2.0 models only.

 

The camber bolts are different diameters between the EX and Si; so you cannot use the front strut/shock from one on the other. I would get an Si specific setup.

 

Damn. I really don't want to spend on coils unless its a full assembly coilover.

 

what about ksport or bc? I haven't heard anything good about the d2s

 

FYI, if you want to use stock parts on your car, but want to fix the body roll, I suggest upgarding to the 2013 si sway bars. Front bar is 1mm larger and the rear bar is 4mm larger. OEM quality and the parts are very cheap. I prefer something a bit more aggressive so I'll be sticking with the Eibach rear sway bar.

 

Speed.. Pick coilovers for me.. I am going with the front and back Eibach sway bars, despite your advice.

 

The front and rear sway bars won't hurt you...you should go for them. I'm just saying you'll be faster through the corners with just getting a rear bar.

The guy specializes in Honda/Acura suspensions. If you live near the area, he was willing to give a discount to an ILX owner who was willing to provide their car as a test mule.

 

This is true. Save the money, just get the rears. I opted for rear eibachs, progressives may be too aggressive for just a commuter in which I want a better ride in.

And redshift is apparently 2 hours away....... Hmm. That Koni damper, swift springs and camber plate setup looks oh-so-pretty!

 

I might opt for their spring / shock combo since I don't care for adjust-ability

Is there any 100% confirmation that any Si coilovers will fit our cars?

 

I'm certain, but if you want to have extra closure...just get the Tein street advance coilovers...they're the highest rated ones on the civic forums.
