I wouldn't repaint it...it earned those scars...
cut and buff whatever it is...throw a little touch up to prevent
rust here and there and and ceramic that bitch.

Deere has actually offered a line of tractors called garden tractors for a long time which is the level above lawn tractors but before the sub-compact tractors which is actually a newer item for John Deere but not other brands. I think garden tractors from them with hydraulics have been around since the 80s.
They are not super common but the first generation of these particular models came out in 2003 and my dad had one for our property growing up since 2004. They had the x400 series that was 2wd and x500 series was 4wd with a selector lever. They had gas and diesel options for both as well. They also offer then with four wheel steer but that greatly reduces ground clearance and with wanting to use it for work in the wooded part of my property I quickly ruled that out. It is amazing the stuff they sell when you go and check out the dealer. The 1 series and the x700 series are almost the same size but you can get a backhoe and a front loader for the 1 series if you want as well as a rear full time hydraulic 3pt hitch for rear attachments. The upper models though should last a lifetime. I hope to still be using this tractor 30+ years from now.

The four wheel steering is awesome for sure. I was really close to getting since the turning radius and uncut circle it leaves in the middle is almost zero turn good but that was until I learned the rod in the back that connects the two rear wheels together only sat 4in off the ground.

I meant Sam.
Trust me, your shit is upgraded and ceramic coated and fire.
If I ever were to want my ahole bleached and my taint properly shaven...
I wouldn't trust anyone but you.

In other LED news I tested the rear work lights with the new bulbs in the yard last night and they light up most of the back yard when I turn them on
Will have to get some pictures. New headlight bulbs should be here today.

The only blinding thing I did was buy JDM fog lights housings that didn't have the bulb protector like the USDM TSX fogs and then threw in 55W Nokya yellow bulbs compared to the 35W factory bulbs. That honestly was the only crazy lighting thing I did. They were stupid bright and one of the only useable set of fogs I have ever had.
at ceramic coating a mowerLooks good though.
Regarding the ramp - have you thought about building a ramp that's on a hinge, so you open the doors and then it flips down to bridge the gap between the existing not-really-a-ramp and the shed floor?

Unfortunately, a hinged ramp won't work. First I would need to find a way to have beefy enough hinges that will support about 1400lbs. Around 950 for the tractor with no gas, 217lbs for the mower deck, and another 215 for the drive. Besides the heavyweight hinge issue the doors on the shed actually have an inner 2x4 frame that actually closes into the door frame.
I have about another 3/4in I can raise the current ramp so going to try that and see what my gap I will be left with. Maybe if I then make a new one to mount at that point and make it longer it might make the approach angle good enough that I could drive over the remaining amount of lip. When I am doing other work without the mower deck on though this will never be an issue at all as it will have plenty of ground clearance then.

So I think I finally figured out the headlights. I wish they didn't have this cheaply made way to put the connector on the bulb so hopefully, that part holds up. Otherwise, the light output is much better than the first set and they are bright than the rear lights finally.
Some amazingly generic Chinese packaging.

These bulbs have 3 sides which with the way the plastic housings are made I think is one of the reasons they have more even output than the last set. They are also rated at almost twice the lumens as the last set. Although, who knows how true those numbers actually are.

Not so amazing cheap attempt at a connector. There is another company that makes a bulb that looks identical but it is an H11 instead of an 881 but the connector is part of the light heatsink. Still need to dig up an old set of H11 bulbs I have somewhere but I am pretty sure they use the same connector to the housing of the light and the H11 are just higher wattage. I don't think that matters at this point since running LED so I could probably even go with some of the 9000 lumen H11 LED bulbs if I wanted.

With the extra wire, something had to be done so that it didn't lay on the muffler heat shield

A few zip ties fixed that

Taillights - With the design of the rear housing these have a better dispersed light output vertically.

Headlights - Much brighter now with better throw. I am not sure if it is the front guard or just the design of the housing causing the cutoff.

Now if it would only stop raining I could actually get out and use it to mow the lawn finally. My weight bracket should finally be here today but still waiting on the grapple to ship so I can get this thing out on the woods too. Hopefully, it gets shipped out before the end of the week.

Hopefully makes it keep it easier to clean. You can't imagine the flack you get for it on a tractor forum. Yet many of them say they like to keep theirs clean to make it last longer.

^ wold work well, weight of mower plus rider would be taken by the floor, not the hinge.
kudos for excellent engineering drawing! Even added the long surface symbol!

That could work but then I worry I would be loosing space inside the shed as well. Alo I would probably need to use 2x8 or 2x10 to make it since that is close to the height down to the ground.
Starting to look into if I can just carefully pry the bottom most trim board off of the shed door and move the hinge up exactly 1in. If I could do that then I could gain 1in more for ramp height since that is how much that trim overhangs the main solid door panel. The main solid door panel already overhangs the door frame by at least an inch in addition as well so it wouldn't be like I would make it seal any worse to the weather as that trim is providing none of that. Then if I build a new ramp that is 2ft longer than the current one then I think the new approach angle would allow the mower deck to clear the remaining lip of the shed no problem without ramps. The only thing I hesitate about is then the two squares on the front of the door will not be equal top and bottom.
The ramp designs would be similar to these.

I was finally able to get the tractor dirty late last week and get some work done. Got to mow the lawn and the mulch kit is fantastic. I had no clippings left behind really and that was with some spots I was cutting 2-3in off.

I have to say being able to remove the deck quickly makes life so much easier. Pulling the spreader and not worrying about the deck bottoming out in the drainage ditch was really nice. One thing I noticed is the metal hookup on the metal plate of the tractor is rubbing the paint off so going to try and find a large nylon wash to use with it. I put down 400lbs of Milorganite over 22k sqft super fast. I used to hate using the pull behind spreader on the 185 with the hand control vs the foot pedals now. I know that is more than what it calls for but have seen good reviews of putting slightly more than called for down and I have seen good results doing it personally.

My Heavy Hitch weight bracket showed up finally. I had to do a small amount of work to get it to fit. Will have to touch it up with some enamel paint now that it fits. Overall though really happy with the piece. Seems really good quality and the design sits up higher than the JD weight bracket. Added bonus of the trailer hitch adapter so I can attach a carried to the back. Comparing between a regular aluminum rear hitch carrier for a car and the Big Tool Rack Yard rack with the addon chainsaw/tool carrier bracket.

I finally tackled a project I have been wanting to work on for a while now. It got pushed to higher importance since I couldn't get the tractor so the other half of the yard. Previous owners had installed an inner fence that split the yard into two halves. Not sure if it was done so they could let the dog outside but lock him in half of the yard at times. I have no need for that if my dogs are outside they are allowed everywhere. If your not a fan of having my dogs around probably not worth visiting my house as they are part of my family. I know that sometimes rubs some people the wrong way stating it that way but so be it. Going to list the fence gates, posts, and all the hardware for sale on Facebook and see if I can keep from sending it to the dump.

The middle section of all the large wire fencing is still in place but there isn't that much of a place that I could get through that section between where my shed is and my firewood pile. I at least have a cross over point at both ends now. Hopefully will tackle the rest of it this week or weekend though to get it all out.

My grapple also showed up this week. Super impressed by the design and engineering of this thing. Unfortunately, no close up pictures of it right now. Mark the owner of company and creator has asked not to have close up pictures posted as he is still waiting on his patents to be finalized on it. So these pictures really don't give up anymore information than the previous design.
Was able to drag this tree trunk section out the woods from a tree I took down a few years ago and didn't fully cut up at the time.

Then used it to transport a large amount of kindling across the property. Probably about 2-3 times what I would have been abler to carry myself. Made 3 trips like this to my dump pile next to my firepit.

Thankfully I can fit the mower deck in front of the tractor and get everything in the shed together with the grapple on the front. It is tight but at least I don't have to remove the grapple every day front doing work in the woods.

Had been using a moving blanket to remove the mower deck in my shed but it wasn't keeping it from sliding very well. I also didn't want to use it long term as I use it for a lot of other stuff. Ordered some foam pads that interlock to leave in the shed full time.

With getting the fence removed I was able to begin work to clean out the trails that had been established on that side of the property by the previous owner. With the fence removed to split I plan to link the rear trail on both sides now at some point as long as I can find a path without having to remove trees.

That is so awesome that that's your backyard, I'm super jealous. Love that view and the ability to go walk it whenever you want.
I totally agree about the dog thing though. My dog is my kid, this is his house and he lives here not other people. If people aren't ok with it/him then don't come here.

I used to call my dogs my kids until I had a kid.
still though, it's your house so if people don't like the smell of your shit, they can go somewhere else.

Thanks Sam. When I found the place I was super surprised how much wooded land it has being so close to town. Can't find really anything like it around here without going really far away from town or being on a high traffic main road.
Yeah, I get that it isn't the same as taking care of as a kid for sure. In the meantime, while I don't have kids, they are treated like family.

LMAO, I wasn't detracting from what the dogs mean to you, I'm just saying...when you add another layer to the hierarchy of love the pups get bumped down a bit.
I didn't think it would happen but it did.
I won't say I'm jealous of your property because I'm not. I don't give a fuck. I'm also an absurd and compulsive liar. No I'm not.
