I'm joining this thread kinda late. But huge congrats to I hate cars, very impressive and it's motivated me to lose weight.
One month ago I weighed 222, I'm 6'1". I have fairly broad shoulders and carry the weight decently, but bleh I've always been slightly overweight. After being put on a medication about a month ago, I've lost 12 pounds. I'm down to 210. I'm really not happy about it as it's unhealthy to lose weight simply by having a suppressed appetite and it seems very rapid to lose 12 pounds in less than a month without working out much. Luckily, the medication makes me not crave junk food, so I've been eating much better than before.
Anyway. I weigh 210 now.
Goal for now: under 200.

I haven't updated in a while since I decided to put on a little muscle. Weight is holding about the same, roughly 116-118 every other day in the morning. Bodyfat is definately disappearing. I have half a 6 pack now. Finally getting the veins back. Hopefully in another month weight will start going up. I still have the original "before" picture. I looked so unhealthy...

Well thanksgiving really made it hard for me. I stopped exercising and increased my food input. I gained pretty crazy and you can see it in my belly area.
Fuck that! last week I went hard at the gym. weights PLUS 20 mins of cardio everyday. The girls at the gym made fun of my love handles.....

That doesn't seem like very much -- I do twenty minutes of cardio just in warm-up and cool-down when I do my indoor bike workouts.

I gained most of mine back. Got pissed and went on a pure Muscle Milk diet. Lost 12lbs in 9 days so for. Not stopping until I have the 6 pack back. Hopefully I'm no lighter than 198 when done but I'm destroying muscle doing it this way for sure.

Drinking / eating nothing but muscle milk.

Im holding steady at 214-216 (from 240) id still like to be a little lower. My mid section is being very stubborn to relinquishing its fat supply While my upper abs are starting to show the lowers are still being hidden. Im having a hard time with meals that are healthy AND that i can make for the whole family that every one likes (and i dont want to get into the habit of making 2 different meals) Muscle mass has increased (but would still like much more) and is probably part of why my weight hasnt dropped like it was earlier on.

What I'm doing is breakfast and lunch Muscle Milk. Then dinner is a normal dinner. It caused too many problems with the GF by me not eating dinner so I gave up on that one. If I were single it would be pure MM with solid food one meal a day every other day.

LOL thats true... doesn't seem ideal for a girl. I just need to lose some weight. I sit on my ass at work all day, we don't get breaks and our "lunch break" means they buy us lunch from wherever we want and we sit at our desks and work thru it and eat at the same time. LOL it's pretty bad. 6+ years of doing this... the weight is adding up!

300 calories. Good fats. A few carbs. If you use it 3 meals a day that's only 900 calories. Doing this has netted me nearly .7lb a day. Again, I don't recommend it to anyone but if you can stick with it you will lose weight. It works well for me because I can do anything for one month no matter how tough. Those 1 year diets are much harder IMO.

Forgot about this thread... been working on portion control and doing pretty well. I blend up fruit and veggies (kale or spinach) into a smoothie every morning and that keep me full well into lunch where I'll have something that in total is around 300 calories. Since I've been eating much more during the day ( used to skip breakfast and sometimes lunch), I'm less hungry for dinner and have been eating less. Also trying to eat only 1/2 of what i'm given when I go out to eat (since 1/2 is usually more than a full portion anyway).
Weighed myself yesterday and was down to 201 We'll see what happens during the holidays, but I'm hoping to get back into the gym when my company moves to a new office (with gym included) in Jan.

The best advice is to do something that you personally can stick to. Replacing just one meal a day is pretty easy. I've been in incredible shape, 6'1" with 5% BF at 230lbs without drugs lol. There are certain things I did to get there that any personal trainer or nutritionist would tell you would never work. I've been told that I can't possibly gain muscle with the way I work out. I've been told that I'll never have low BF the way I diet but at the end of the day, I was the one in very good shape, not them. In fact, I could usualy match the steroid users in size gain and fat loss doing everything the "wrong" way. Pick out something you can do and stick to it. If it doesn't work as well as you want, make adjustments along the way. Like I said, I do much better with a more extreme diet over a shorter time, it's just easier for me to stick to.

You don't have to go extreme. Use it for just one meal a day and give it a few weeks. You will see a difference.

I need to join this thread. I'm not particularly out of shape but I have gained a lot since thanksgiving. Its very hard for me to work out in the winter months due to the cold. Gained about 20-25lbs in the last two months which puts me at approximately 200lbs.
Its all due to eating so if I can curtail that, a big part of my goal will be accomplished. My goal is by February to weigh around 185lbs.

Time for me to hop in as well. I'm 6'1, 220ish lbs of mostly fat with a little bit of muscle. Sitting around the house a lot really hasn't done anything well for me.
Don't have the best metabolism, and the family's got a history of diabetes on both sides, so it's time to get gritty with this shit.
Off to the gym for the first time in about 3 months. The next 48 hours will be painful.

It depends. Right now no. I'm living on "past glory", muscle I built up years ago. If I were very lean I would be about 195lbs at 6'1". That's down from 230 and very lean. It's time to start hitting the weights but I want to get a little more cut first. If I were hitting the weights I would add a few more calories. I'm weird in that I can do ultra low calories and still put on muscle. My personal trainer friends still have no idea how I do it, it must be genetics. When I eat like I should I put on muscle just as quick as the steroid crowd. That was what first motivated me to work out. I had a friend that started the juice so I started creatine and I put on more strength and size at the end of 6 months.
There was a time in my early 20s when I was getting paid to be in a certain shape by a certain time. By the time I was done I had to be taken to the hospital. I made it in time and did what I was supposed to do but then I basically collapsed. I was doing 600 calories a day, doing cardio at the gym for an hour at 4:30AM, eating only a small lunch and then hitting the weights hard after work. It was always a challenge to not pass out lol. After only a month I was where I needed to be. It taught me my physical limits and it what not to do. I would never push it like that now that I'm in my 30s, I would probably end up dead. Right now, 900 calories a day with no workout is easy.

HOLY FORGET-A-THON BATMAN... Crap... gained a solid(as in solid fat not muscle - up from 180 to 183. Im 5'8") 3 pounds over thanksgiving & christmas so far. I need to knock this off quick. I think most of us find ourselves in similar situations this time of year.
figured out how to subscribe to a thread (yes I know after 2 years LOL)
I have to keep myself active on this thread. I gota be accountable for my gains.
