I was at a UFC after-after party at Rehab in Vegas probably 5-6 years ago. The majority of the guys there were fighters, friends of fighters, or someone in the business. They let a ton of girls in, the odds were probably 2-1. Some dude had to show up in a hot pink thong speedo. I think he was just some rich dude and I doubt he had any idea it was a UFC party. I was standing next to Phil Baroni when we noticed the guy and he had a few words to say lol.

213lbs today! I'm sure most of it is the fact that I have no food in me but it's a good motivator. Going to the Barret Jackson show in Vegas tomorrow morning and I've got to somehow stick with it strictly. Looks like there's a gym in my hotel. This will be a first, dieting in Vegas and going to the gym with little to no alcohol.
If I can hold even at 213 by the Sunday night weigh-in I'll consider this week a victory.
230-213 weighing in the morning. The 213 is probably more like 215+ if I were eating.

failhard.
Late to join in, but dammit, I need some motivation or something. 275 lbs, obese but athletic. Most hours of my day are occupied, so basically no gym unless I have enough willpower to get up at 5am everyday. I failed that today. Goal is 260 by December 22.

I started up about 3 weeks ago. I have an elliptical machine at home that I've been using for 40min about 3 or 4 mornings per week. Now I'm changing to 6-7 days a week for the same time.
6'2" and started at 212 - down to about 210 now after 3 weeks. Wife gave me motivation. The deal is that we're going to Vegas at the end of Apr '11, for every LB I lose, I can bring $100. My goal weight is 185 or less by then. Should be a realistic solution since we're about 26 weeks away.
I used to not eat breakfast, light lunch and big dinner. I'm reversing that now. Having a fruit/veggie(kale/spinach) smoothie for breakfast, veggies or sandwich with veggies for lunch, and salad or stirfry for dinner (basically anything with veggies, meat and rice/quinoa).

Here's my update.
I recently got promoted to geophysical work which actually requires me to use my brain. Since then, I've been mentally tired. I attend the gym everyday after work, but usually will exercise my mouth. you know the type, going back and fourth between friends and pretty women. I have been doing this for about 3 months now. I just dont have any motivation.
well, about three weeks ago (Because of this thread), I started working out again, but very soft and sorta taking it easy.
I've got love handles now and I'm determined to make that shit go away!!!!
I hope I have determination for today! and the rest of the week!

My update... I've been lifting hard. Eating pretty well. Doing 20-30 minutes of cardio 4 times a week. My weight is still around 214lbs but I'm getting the upper abs in pretty well.

I've been working on losing weight for two months now and it's been going very slowly. I started out at 224 on Sept 8th, and a few days ago I was at 218 (it was 220 today). I've been using a calorie counter app on my phone and I've been trying really hard to keep about a 800 calorie deficit... I set it to sedentary and then added on what exercise I did during the day.
I've been kind of depressed because progress has been really slow. I was looking around on the internet and did a calculation ( Here )and it said with my activity level I need to be eating 3,300 calories a day to break even. I usually go on a brisk 2 mile walk or use a cycling machine for an hour, sometimes hard yardwork (at least 3 times a week) etc. I've been so obsessed with the 800 calorie deficit a day I never looked at my calorie intake per day... My average is about 2,000 a day, sometimes down to 1,600. No wonder I haven't lost any weight, I've been in starvation mode for the past month
I'm gonna bump the average up to about 2,600 and see if that gets things moving again.

A very important point is to have at least one cheat day a week. When I would do hard core dieting, the cheat days made all the difference. Don't try and eat healthy during a cheat day. Eat everything you want including desert until you can't eat anymore. This keeps your metabolism from slowing.
All the little tricks really add up. Get most of your carbs in, in the first half of the day. Try and make dinner as early as possible. If you can sleep ok, try and get a little cardio in as close to bedtime as you can. Make breakfast your largest meal and taper down with each meal.
If you're trying to add muscle you have to adjust these recommendations.
I'm still around 215 but people are really starting to notice. I'm hitting the weights hard and it seems like I'm putting on muscle at about the same rate as I'm getting rid of the fat. My weight is staying the same but I have the first 2 abs without flexing so it's going really good. I was worried at my age it was going to be hard but it's about the same as it's ever been.
Here's a far away blurry picture from Acurafest at 215lbs 10 days ago. I've actually lost a noticable amount of fat since then. I have the beginning pictures and they're horrible. I had planned on a quick weight loss but I think I'm going to go for a complete transformation now. If things go right, I'll post the before and after in a month. So here's a picture where you really can't see a thing. I'm the white guy in the background lol.

Can I join late? I'm assuming I'm at 190 right now, have been for the past month or so... My goal is 170 but much more muscle mass. I used to be in extremely good shape even with drinking every night in Germany but I got back to the good ole USA and gained 50lbs from where I had been for a long ass time.

I'm looking to drop probably 30lbs. I'm 6'2" tall, and currently weigh 233lbs (evenings). I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning to get a 'morning weight' whereby I will use that as a starting point reference (as recommended in this thread).
My life, with two kids and a very busy schedule, doesn't permit me to hit the gym at all. However, I have a stationary bike in the basement as well as free-weights and a bench.
My basic plan is to really adjust my diet, as its currently a free-for-all. I eat after 6pm, usually some chips or ice cream. I also eat too many large portions, especially dinner.
With a kidney problem (IGA Nephropathy), I have been sternly advised by my kidney specialist to:
- reduce protein intake
- reduce salt intake (to lower blood pressure and ease stress on kidneys. Currently on 160mg Diovan/day to help lower BP).
- lose weight (to lower BP as well as just stay generally healthy).
I'm not concerned with strength, as I have enough strength to do what I want without becoming beefcake-like in terms of a gym regiment. I just need to lose the fat I have (I've put on about 15-20lbs since I had a run-in with pneumonia in June where I lost 12lbs, then once I was over that, I gained the 12lbs back and added an extra 15-20! ).
I plan to take pics but won't be sharing them. At least not yet. I don't really know why I'm even posting this, but I guess its as a 'start date' for my progress. I plan to start updating this regularly. Someone PM me if they haven't seen me check-in in the past 3 days -- make sure I do it!
Cheers,
Eric

Ok, my pre-dump morning weight: 230.0 lbs.
I am starting with the eating-right approach, and will begin my morning stationary bike rides on Sunday or Monday.
My goal is 210 lbs by Christmas Eve. -- 1 pound per week.

I've tapered off around 177 at around 8-9% BF.
It's a bit tricky for me at the moment.
I would like to lower my BF a bit more, however, with the intense workouts, need my caloric intake to be where it's at.
I lift intensely, and train martial arts intensely as well. Lifting keeps me heavier, martial arts keeps me lighter, so they are conflicting. I'm in the process of finding a happy medium at the moment, as I've never really done both with such intensity at the same time.

I'm afraid to weigh myself but last time checked a few months ago, 6'1" and 245 pounds. When I smoked and unhappy with my ex gf I was 260 6 years ago. Now...ballpark about 230ish...
I go jogging 3 miles on my lunch break twice a week, hit a crossfit-ish workout at the gym 2 days a week and ride mountaing bike (yes, quarry riding down here in Sofla) every Thursday.
This week got serious about eating well and every 3 hours and NOT having any blue bell icecream. Currently 3 in the fridge. I'm tired of feeling pudgy.

I weighed myself the other day, down to 208 from 212 after about a month. Haven't really gotten into any heavy working out, just changed my diet to include more greens/fruits and removing sugars. I've even stopped drinking at home (but going out is fair game).

I've been wanting to lose weight for a while but can't seem to get motivated. I'm 6' and currently at 224 lbs. I'd like to get down to around 190. I have a bike that I need to ride more often and I need to change my diet. I snack at night and have been eating McD's for breakfast 3-4 times a week. I drink 3-4 sodas a week but I also drink a lot of water. I'm gonna get that down to 1-2 a week. I don't drink very often so I should be ok with the occasional . Salads will have to re-join my diet also. At my job I'm on my feet all day walking constantly. How much running should I be doing? Or should I just do the bike thing? I'm a at this diet thing.

Lots of running or walking.... and cut out as much carbs as you can. That makes cutting out those sodas.
Also look at nutritional info at all the food you eat. I mean, before I didn't care but once I started exercising and making a big push towards losing weight I started getting grossed out by excessively fatty foods. I can't even drink an entire soda out of a can now.... I can only drink half or have to dilute it with ice... I still can't finish it. I used to drink one or two at a time, luckily that's over.

FWIW, that's when I'm the most motivated. I have motivation problems when I'm with someone. That's why I've taken an unplanned 3 year break from the weights. I'm so glad I was big at one time, the muscle comes back very fast. Otherwise I probably wouldn't bother now.

LOL. I had my xl '09 Acurafest shirt ready to go and spilled a coke on it that morning. I was going on 2 weeks without doing laundry and only had one large shirt clean. I hate wearing tight shirts when I start putting on size. As I get bigger and bigger I wear looser and looser clothing. Right now it's not bad but as I get bigger I absolutely hate the attention that it draws. It's mostly dudes which is the worst.

Agreed, since this thread started ive been doing only simple lifts and not going all out but can tell that I'm getting "pumped"
