Do the cardio and what you can with your finger and you will continue to get stronger and leaner.

^^nice, I just started P90x today too. Did it with a friend, we both got our asses kicked. I think I could barely do one and a half dive bomber push ups (most didn't count because I didn't do it properly) in the middle of Ab Ripper because I was wasted from everything before it. Going to try to eventually mix it in with one or two short-medium bicycle rides each week, about 20-30 miles a day, anyone (svtmike?) wanna chime in on how they did it?
Don't know if I can stay with the diet, and I'm still unsure about anything-creatine but today I ate healthier than I ever have in a long time. I've heard that your diet is one of the most important things when it comes to something like getting a 6-pack.
I think 4-6 months ago I was quite in-shape and hovering around 135-140 (I'm 5'7"). I'm currently at 160, which is pretty bad IMO. I didn't have an injury that affected my mobility either... the weight just packed on. My day 1 pics are quite embarrassing considering how slim I was before. My goal is to lose the manboobs, beer belly and stay at the weight I am or go even higher. I want to get well defined muscle tone... which probably won't happen unless I change my diet drastically.
Cardio (blegh), diet and motivation will be my biggest obstacles. My workout buddy may not have the time soon, so I might have to do P90 on my own. me luck!

Thanks guys. I'll stick with it and try and read the other pages for more advice. I haven't sweated this much in a long time, there were several drops on the ground from my forehead throughout plyo. Only 2 days and I can't stand up completely straight. I feel pathetic now, but hopefully not in three months!
I've already cut out sodas and fast food. Today I went to the pantry like 4 times and had to resist grabbing something each time and while I was at school I just stared at the snack vending machine
You guys are motivation for me too.... if you guys can set aside an hour a day while working full-time and taking care of multiple kids, then I've got no excuses

i'm not really following the diet really, i have always ate healthy and watch the portions that i do eat. i just now have really cut the crap out of my diet. after one week i have seen a difference in my body. I'm stoked for another 10 weeks, but the last month is going to be rough for me just because of scheduling but i'll get it done.
i need to really take my weight down

What you eat plays a big roll in the success. Now do you have to follow it to a T, No. But dont go eating Big Macs all day and expect results.

Damn, been over a week with no P90X. My finger is healing well though, so I'm shooting for next week to get back started with Phase 3, but with us moving and family coming to visit, probably going to be longer. At least I haven't gained any weight. Still holding strong at 215lbs.

How do you guys do the exercises? I borrowed a hard drive with the videos on it from a friend, and its just a bunch of videos... video 1 is chest and back, 2 is plyo, etc. How do I do this? Do I just do all the videos, then repeat? That seems right, but me and my friend are doing the first 7 videos for the first month, then we're going to move on to the next 7, and so on. Last Monday we did chest & back and this Monday we did chest & back too.... is this right?
I'm pretty confused. I don't have an exercise schedule or anything, does the program come with one?
btw I've noticed a difference after a week too. I can't wait to see even more progress. Kenpo made me sweat like a motha!

^ Yes, the "kit" comes with a manual that tells you which videos to do when during Phase 1, 2 and 3. That's what you get for being cheap!
Just do a search online, I'm sure someone's posted up the plan.

What do you guys recommend or take post-workout? I was recommended EAS and muscle milk, haven't had the chance to compare nutritional info side by side though.
I found out that muscle milk has creatine though. I'm a little concerned about the side effects. Are these concerns unfounded? I basically just want protein without much fat/sugar/sodium.
I want to get fit, but I don't want to slowly break down my body.... seems kinda counter-productive.
found it, thanks.

if you want protien, Optimum Nutrition 100% whey is the best stuff around. i try to get as much protein from chicken though.
EAS is no good so isn't muscle milk.
as far as post workout drinks, P90x sells their own post workout drink which has creatine in it as well as other amino acids to promote growth. for myself i do the full controlled labs pre and post workout drinks. White Flood, Purple Wrath and Green Magnitude. i have used this combo in the past and it worked very well. just hoping with this, a semi strict diet, and going all out on these workouts i can go past my fitness level i was at a couple years back

Poly? or Plyo?
Its actually one of the more fun ones, IMO. It could just be me though, my cardio/agility is already above average. I actually don't like cardio since I dislike running but the routine goes by faster on days when there's plyo.
But yoga sucks balls. I never thought that just by standing there then changing my stance that I could break out into a sweat. I've got lower body strength and some cardio but I'm not too flexible... I'm assuming yoga gets easier.
I hope.

It's official. Yoga is not for me. I'd love to get more flexibility, but if there are any days where I really feel like not doing P90X, its the yoga days.
I think instead of yoga or if I don't like the cardio X I'll sub in a bike ride with yoga X stretches.

Still haven't touched P90X since the finger injury, but I did do something active for the first time in 2 weeks this morning. 3 mile run with the wife. Felt pretty good considering, but I'm undecided on if I'm going to continue with P90X from where I left off (begining of Phase 3), start it all over again or not do it at all besides the videos I liked here and there mixed in with the gym. I'm lost.
#745
I had fun with it while it lasted, but I think I mentioned how I just recently got back into the gym. I know everyone is different, but for me, once I got back into the gym I was so much more motivated. At least a lot more than I was from the last few times I did P90x vs the beginning.
I'm thinking I maybe just got tired of the same workouts despite the change with each phase. I feel like I accomplish a lot more at the gym. I'm glad I did P90x because it even gave me some good base exercises I can (and do) use in the gym, but I doubt I'll do it anymore. That's just me.

I did Plyo today in thick half-knee socks and sweatpants. WTF was I thinking?
Don't remember what exercise I did beforehand exactly, but I wiped my forehead with a towel, went and did the twist turns, then immediately after four big sweat drops hit the floor when I looked down for a couple of seconds. The whole time my face felt like I just got out of a hot shower.
Just started on the 3rd week yesterday and I've lost about 6 pounds so far, while taking protein supplements after chest/arm/back workouts. This program is serious. I sometimes dread workouts (i.e. Ab ripper) but having my friend there doing the exercises also is a great motivator.

I just dug the P90X box up from the piles of boxes from moving. I'm thinking next week I might do a video or two. I miss my muskulls.

Damn, 25 pounds!
I've been slacking a little too. Yesterday I couldn't do kenpo because my buddy was at the hospital and I didn't have anywhere to do it.... but I played basketball on Saturday like I usually do every week. Definitely surprised people with my newfound quickness thanks plyo and legs!

Man i cant lift my arms today yet after mondays Chest shoulder tri workout. I pushed myself harder than ever. Doesnt help im out of the recovery drink.
Side note, Anyone else get the shits from whey protein? The chocolate tastes good but it upsets my stomach I cant wait for the recovery drink to get here.

For a little bit, creatine is what gave me (I believe there is creatine in the P90x recovery drink as well), but I've never had that problem with the Whey I take.

Im afraid to drink it (whey protein) before i have to go anywhere. It will hit me at any time and its not friendly. I never had the issue with the recovery drink from P90

Ive tried Body Fortress and EAS. Both same results.

My guess is it won't yield any different results, but I use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey and I've never had that problem with it. Maybe try that next time?
