I think I may start this soon again. This will be attempt #3 but I lost 30lb since the last time I tried and in much better shape where I don't think I'm going to hurt myself that bad.
Once it gets a little warmer in my basement, I'll restart.

Starting back up after two weeks off (international travel is a bitch). Was not able to bring any workout stuff with me as our days were scheduled heavy, didn't have my laptop with me to load p90x with (might rip them and put them on my ipad).
But anyway, enough excuses. Still followed my diet pretty close while traveling, making smart decisions. Came back from my 2 week break @ 202 - down 10 lbs from when I started working out/eating right.
3 weeks from Vegas, my goal is to be below 200 by then.

I just completed my first 3 weeks. I followed the routines and the diet pretty closely, and about to start my recovery week tomorrow with Yoga
Not sure if this has been mentioned, I'm using Bodylastic bands, and they work fairly well. I have some dumbbells, but I only use them with the bands aren't able to smoothly perform the exercises. Google Bodylastic if you guys are interested.
Oh yeah, I hate Plyo!

What do you guys do if you don't have the pullup bar? Is there a substitute?
#895
I freakin loved plyo made a huge, noticeable difference.
I highly recommend getting a pullup bar. Several of the arms exercises are require it. Not sure how you'd substitute it...

I put a Eyehook in the ceiling and hook the band to it. I dont have a door way or place high enough in the house for me to do chinups without my knees hitting the floor so i use the bands like in the video. The small hole the eyehook made can be patched quickly and easily.

Check out the Bodylastic bands I mentioned earlier. Don't want to sound like a walking advertisement for them, but when I first started P90X, I couldn't do any pull-ups at all. So, I used the bands and the door anchor that came with them; I was able to simulate multiple back exercises. (They are similar to ones you can do with machines at the gym - Lat pull downs, both high and low back rows...Tony Horton shows you most of these in the videos)
After you see the videos below, you'll know what I'm talking about. Good luck Stogie!

Im about to start the series again. Just finished doubles 2 weeks ago. Going to repeat it. Last 2 weeks have been too busy to get a solid workout in. Overall though its helped me lose 51 lbs and get much more fit. Ive been keeping the weight off even with not the greatest of diet as of late.

So I'm going to share my P90X story......
About a year ago one of my fellow coworkers introduced me to p90X, at first it was going to pretty good during the summer and I was semi fit. What I mean by semi fit is that I have always had an issue with fat storing in my stomach region if I am not active. My first initial stint of p90X lasted up through phase 2, at this time I had started grad school, work got really stressful and I was working 60 hour weeks. I also happen to catch a cold around then and I fell completely out of the P90X program.
Between October and December work was still hectic and grad school was also taking up my time.
After the first of the year work finally slowed down and I was feeling pretty crappy, I had gained back weight I lost plus some. I was just tipping the scale at 200lbs and I said enough is enough. I have always been in and out of working out, getting results then losing them.
So in February of this year I restarted the P90X program. I eat pretty good and normally have vegetables and chicken for lunch, oats in the morning, fruits during the day, and some type of meet at night.
When I restarted the P90X program I was at 200lbs and probably over 25% body fat, my height is 5'8". I purchased adjustable weights and was committed to gaining muscle and loosing fat. The adjustable weights have been amazing during the program, From 10lbs to 50lbs in increments of 5lbs for each Dumbbells.
I was doing pretty good through the first two phases of the program and began the 3rd phase, like before work started to pick up and I needed to finish my grad class. So the end of my phase 3 was not stellar. I took a week off and restarted p90X last month.
Over the last month I have completed phase one again. I can say right now I'm down to 180lbs but have had a substantial increase in muscle mass, I am down to around 16-18% body fat. I have toned up everywhere on my body but the one place that has been the most difficult is my stomach, I have reduced in size, my cloths have been fitting looser around the waist line. pretty much the majority of my body fat index is coming from that area, using the three test location method.
Overall I love p90X for the weight training it provides however I cannot stand Yoga and I feel plyo to be slow sometimes, I do like Kenpo though. However I feel as though in order to shred the remaining weight I needed more cardio and to change things up a bit, so I have stared INSANITY.
Insanity is going to be a tough 60 days but Tony Horton has prepared me well. Yesterday was the fit test and comparing my day 1 fit test to the guy in the video's 60 day fit test. In 6/8 of the moves I was equal to him if not better than him. the other 2 moves I was just behind what he could do, so I'm feeling pretty good.
I also Started Insanity to prepare me for warrior dash i have coming up in 2 weeks in Northern Mass.
Today was day two of plyo cardio and it was intense non stop, I have never sweat that hard from p90X plyo...and this is the easy plyo disc in insanity. my calves and legs are killing me.....
But anyways my overall experience with p90X and Tony Horton is positive, I'm going to try and do Insanity for the full 60 days and hopefully I can get down to 165-170 and be lean under 10% body fat, then jump back and do a p90X/Insanity hybrid. Or if Tony Horton comes out with P90X2 (MC2) then I will start that program because that will be intense and i will be fully prepared to take it on.
Sorry if this was long winded but these programs work if you stick with it, and it beets going to the gym in my honest opinion. my time is limited in most cases and these programs help with the motivation.

i am not trying to take anything away from the p90X program, i think its excellent to bulking and gaining the muscle, but to get the extra weight loss it's a lot more about the diet.
Insanity is more cardio and just eating right, with some minor resistance.
i will be back to p90X though..

Interested to hear what you guys think of Insanity and Turbofire. My gripe with P90X was that by the time I stopped, I was kinda bored of it as well.
Still, much better than the gym grind which I've been through several times already.... but that could also be cause I just did whatever and mixed up my routine every day or so. A month of P90X was equivalent to maybe 2-3 months or constant, HARD work at the gym and proper rest days too, though I never ate well. And I was never that quick on my feet unless you consider the football/track practices in high school.
I loved kenpo and plyo, but the funny thing is I hate running long distances/treadmill type of cardio.

^ I Agree. The gym grind can be tough. The problem with me was always motivation, as I never really wanted to work out until I started doing P90X. Then, the prob was being on a regular schedule, because I travel extensively (So the gym was a no-go anyways).
If anyone is looking to mix up their routine a bit, look to see if there are any Beachbody "Fit Clubs" in your area. I found one here in Pensacola (and I did find one in Atlanta area too), which introduced me to other Beachbody products, let me meet more people and workout with others (which is so motivating to me). Fit Clubs are supposed to be free and workout 1-2 a week (so it wont replace your routine).
Fit Clubs is what got me trying out Insanity and Turbofire.
I would imagine most guys wouldnt like Turbofire though, since its more coreographed and the music. I do like it though. Alot. I'll prob go through their motions and then go to Insanity or back to P90X

P90x definitely helped with getting results in a pretty fast time rate. the reason why i never been consistent with the gym is motivation and i would get bored.
p90X is a good program i like it, i have seen great results with it but its time to mix things up.
i will probably go back to p90X or do the hybrid p90X/insanity mix after insanity or maybe sooner because i do want to build upper body muscle.
p90X would be the monday, wednesday, friday weight workouts and the other three days is Insanity.
My gf has turbofire, she likes it a lot and has seen some great results. she's been following the schedule but substituting running in 3 days a week because of how her schedule works out. she is able to run during her lunch break at work since she has no time at nite.
Insanity is a more hard core workout program over turbofire.
for me i hate running lon distances never was my thing nor did i see great results from it. insanity is more what i like, your "running" but using your body/legs and doing different things.

I finished phase 1 and started the first day of phase 2. Chest, shoulders and triceps + abs, it was a pretty tough workout but I gave it my all and was really exhausted when i finished. Since this was my first time doing this particular video I hope I can do better. But, best of all with new videos there are new jokes.
AS3 - Great job!

I still havent tried Insanity. Im not sure i want that much cardio. Id like to gain more mass. I really like the Doubles of P90x. I did one round of it, i am going to start a 2nd round of it monday. Though im going to mix up the cardio X to just 1 day a week and substitute Core syn and Plyo for 2 of the days.
Im thinking of ordering the P90x+ It has 5 new programs

I havent tried or started yet. I havent had the time yet. I plan on sitting down and watching the "how to bring it again" vid. none of the workouts sound the same other than ab ripper. Looks like all new stuff and a new improved meal plan. Im looking forward to starting. Im not sure if im going to wait till the first of the year or when to start. Things are about to get really hectic around here with the wife due in a few weeks.
