you sir might be correct...

I always get the race and sport springs confused AND h and s techs confused....

but either way, am assuming the race springs are stiffer than sport springs....in which case they wont be able to drop the car as much unless they are shorter...

Yeah that's the only thing I'm not feeling is the stiffer ride.

Not looking to slam my car or anything so maybe the sport springs will be the way to go

yeah the sport springs do have a decent drop...

I like the drop of the tein s-tech springs better though.... (will confirm s tech or h tech)

So quick eBay search and it looks like Tein S-techs will be the winner.

You get a better drop from the race springs and harsher ride compared to the sport springs.

The race springs also drop lower than the S-Tech springs.
Compare Dan's (Geeteedan) car with Tyler's (tltothecl32's car when he had springs).
They had side by side comparisons so you'll know which one you'll like better.

Yeah I was looking at Geeteedan's progress thread today and that's where I got the idea of the racing springs, but he upgraded his struts as well and got a camber kit.

I'd probably still need a camber kit with coilovers, but I'm wondering if racing springs and new struts be significantly cheaper still? or only a bit less expensive?

I definitely like the drop of those racing springs though, so I think I'll message him and hopefully he can answer all my questions

Tein S Techs will do just fine but it really depends on how low do you want to go and as far as the Part # I believe its Tein SKA52-AUB00

My car has 95 000kms. Is that still okay to put the S.Techs on or should I upgrade my struts? I was looking on eBay and it's only like $150 for struts? I know Koni's are a lot more expensive

Go coilovers it is worth the money rather than you spending on new struts and springs

I'll be satisfied with 1 to 1.5 inch drop

I would go with coilovers, just because chances are you will eventually end up getting them. and you'll be able to adjust the ride height and stiffness to your likings

Disappointed my reverse LEDs came in my mail in Ottawa, and now I'm here in Collingwood wishing they were here lol

Have a safe holiday, and hope Santa brought you guys car goodies!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Here's my take on the coilovers/spring subject:

Problem with springs - You will always wish you could go that extra .5-1" lower
Problem with coils - You will always try and go a little bit lower every year lol

What if your car is a daily driver meaning carrying wife and kids all the time, what would be better coils or springs

springs will get bouncier over time, so you might as well just get coils from the start and set it to your liking. i had h&r springs before i got the tein street advanced and it was probably the best and noticable difference that i felt in comfort.

Coilovers are the better decision, but it comes down to your budget.

If you spend the extra bit to have dampening adjustable coils you can decide what ride height/ stiffness works for you. If you do only springs you don't have the option to customize the feel/ride height to you and your family's comfort level.

What I can say for sure is that my TL on the OEM A-spec suspension became chattery and less responsive to road variations around 180,000km. Springs would have only made it even worse on the OEM shocks. After I installed my coilovers (Tein SS), I have never given them a second guess.

Anyone have any good recommendations for wheel shops?

I'm going to be getting XXR 530's for my summer set up.

18x8.75 +33
Chromium Black

GBTires in Mississauga has them @ $895/set
Garage16 in Toronto has them @ $229/wheel + tax
Some place in BC has them for like $820 shipped but I'd prefer local pickup

Any help is appreciated guys,

thanks

Get coils. Before I got my Tein SS I had H&R Sports on stock struts. Worst purchase I ever made, I hated springs.. the drop was weak, ride was bouncy, just a waste of paying labour installation. I bought my Tein SS not even 2 weeks later.

Don't bother wasting your money on springs, go coils or go home lol.

I've only heard of shops in the US. Interested to see what your results are on a 3.5 with a smaller blower. Do you have a high boost pulley? Meth?

On my way to Ottawa from Collingwood, my driver side fog lens cracked and had a hole in it. Taped it up to prevent water and debris from entering until I had time and material to fix it.

Precut lexan pieces came in yesterday so I fixed it.

A little too much rtv sealant but oh well no big deal for me.

New reverse LEDs, brightest ones from VLEDs.

They are very blinding at night.

Also re-aimed fogs when I put the bumper back on. Before, you could barely see my fogs on the ground since they were aimed too high. Now it's much better.
Also got Morimoto 3Five 5000k D2S bulbs to replace my dim OEM ones.

Awesome!

How are your morimoto bulbs GP? I'm thinking of ordering some. My passenger side DDM Tuning bulb has already colour shifted somehow to a pure white, while my driver side is still 6000k :S
