Be a man, live up to what you did. Worst case scenario you should give it up for adoption there are hundreds of couples that would love to adopt a child.

Has life started yet? Is there a new entity on the face of the earth or is that still 6 months off in the future? Is that a human being or is it a mess of cells that is still only a third of the way done being cooked and unable to live out in the world despite every medical advance or piece of machinery known to man?
Conception!= fresh batch of man-ranch on my girl's titties.
Conception = To unite in sexual intercourse; to come together in the act
of generation.

You think that both are indistinct. I do not agree.

I will not continue to argue. Seems that most of you guys already have the idea of abortion as an option.

So if money is an issue (for the next 18 years); I will think that having a pet who requires a 2 grand surgery and I am broke; I will rather spend 200 to get a new one, based, again, on the money issue ?

You can't compare pets and future children. Completely different ballparks of responsibility.
Conception, by definition, is not a birth or an end result. It is the creation of an embryo or zygote (NOT a human - yet). Another definition of conception places the word somewhere between a concept and an idea - something that is in the beginning stages of being formed, but by no means exists in it's "production" phase so to speak.

For sure a kid is million times more responsibillity than a pet. They will very likely live after your death and they can be even better than you.

A common pet dies < 20 years and they are usually dumb. Not rulling out there are dumb people; but brain is there to correct those issues.

Is my opinion that the child should be born and if they do not want it they should give it to someone who wants to adopt him/her.

enuff

I'm just busting your balls. It's a very sensitive topic that many people feel very very strongly about. I'm surprised it has gone this many pages without being moved to R&P...

Happy to see things worked out for both of you.

Is there any type of counseling she can get that might help with this decision? If so, it might be a good idea to try to get her involved.

Wow, is all I can say reading through this thread. Rez, I think whats important here is that you leanrned a very VERY valuable lesson. I am also glad to hear that you made a well thought out and talked over decision to look out for the best interest of, the mother, the child, and yourself.
Good luck with the recovery. So how did you hide the charge from your folks ?

best interest of the child??????? i dont think so. its dead now. giving it up to a loving family for adoption would have been in its best interest.

best interest of the parents? yes.

If you get an abortion at all, get it done super early. look how its developed at the end of the 1st trimester and the end of the second trimester.

12 weeks of development: By this point, nearly all of the organs and structures of the fetus are formed. They will continue to grow and develop until delivery. Fingers and toes have separated and hair and nails begin to grow. The genitals begin to take on their gender characteristics. Amniotic fluid begins to accumulate as the baby's kidneys begin to produce and excrete urine. The muscles in the intestinal walls begin to practice peristalsis - contractions within the intestines that digest food.

24 weeks of development:
Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long, that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are forming. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily.
First of all, don't question my christianity...second of all, I don't need an anatomy lesson on babies, I am a labor and delivery nurse, third of all, in the state of texas abortions up to 24 weeks is still legal. My role as a christian is to pray for people and ask for forgiveness on their behalf..my role as a nurse is to give safe and current information for someone to make an informed decision....don't confuse my knowledge about the procedure with my approval....for me, I would never get an abortion, however that does not give me the right to make that choice or force that upon anyone else...

can you control someone raping you? can the baby control you killing it through abortion? Not to sound like a cliche, but you can't have your cake and eat it too...

Rez, I am glad that you have been honest with yourself, her, and all of us in this very difficult time in your life...I will continue to pray for healing and understanding for all of us here and especially for both of you and your families...Ricky
