Big Block go VROOOM!
You know what would be bad? I mean a really REALLY bad sign.....
GT5 gets released on the same day that the Large Hadron Collider does its first run at full power.

Big Block go VROOOM!
Appears to have now been confirmed in 3D. So yes, Sony probably caused delays in the game in order to use it as bait for their 3D hardware.
http://www.virtualr.net/gran-turismo...d-this-summer/
With more than a 1000 cars and breathtaking graphics, there’s no shortage of impressive features when it comes to Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3. Now, a new feature can be added to the list as Sony hasannounced that GT5 will be one of the first titles to be available in 3D.
According to Sony’s Quore online magazine, Gran Turismo 5 will be among the six first titles that will be available in 3D this summer, joining other high-profile titles such as Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet.
Interestingly, the other five titles included in Sony’s maiden 3D push have all been released already, suggesting that Gran Turismo 5 would need to be released by summer to be part of this launch as announced. The summer release has not been confirmed by Sony apart from GT5 being listed as part of the 3D launch though.
To experience the first ever driving game in 3D, players need a pair of active-shutter 3D glasses, a Playstation 3 with the new 3D-enabled firmware that is due to be out this summer and a 3D-ready HD TV. The latter is the most expensive requirement, Sony’s range of Bravia HD 3D TVs starts around $3500 for a 46 inch model – It will take a while until this new experience will be affordable for everyone.

Does the iPad have an app to play this vaporware when it launches...?

Whoa, 3D.......Now I don't blame Polyphony at all for the delay. After all, Sony has been pushing a lot for 3D hardware lately. Now they just need the software to support it. And this is it.

Screw 3D. They're re-releasing games in 3D that had been our a year already. Nobody's going to have 3D TVs for a while. It's not like a BD player that costs $200 or PS3
. Worthless delay IMO. Interesting that the PS3 3D FW is confirmed, but useless to probably 90% of all PS3 users by Xmas time.

a little off the current conversation..
but does anyone else find it hilarious that this thread started out as a rant about them pushing the game's release all the way to 07..
here we are in 2010 still discussing its release 3 years later...

Big Block go VROOOM!
And some more fodder for you all to fret over....
http://www.virtualr.net/gran-turismo...chi-statement/
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi is currently in the United Kingdom, meeting the winners of the recent GT Academy competition. As usual, Yamauchi is a sought-after interview partner for various media outlets who are looking for more details on the upcoming Gran Turismo 5 title for the Playstation 3.
One of those interviewing Yamauchi was Autoblog UK that published the following statement:
AutoBlog UK: Can you explain more about the difference between premium and standard cars in the new GT5?
Yamauchi: Standard models won’t have an interior view, less detailing and no crash model. The problem is that premium models take a lot of time to create and we wanted to include many more vehicles than before. To make premium versions of all the cars we want to put in would take ten years or more and I don’t think people are prepared to wait long!
That statement directly contradicts the January article in the Official Playstation Magazine that confirmed that all cars will be having a cockpit view and the difference between premium and standard model is about the latter having a less sophisticated damage-model including no cockpit damage.
Keep in mind that Yamauchi usually relies on a translator for these kinds of interviews so this might just be a case of something getting lost in translation. Assuming it is true indeed, this statement would be a huge blow for Gran Turismo 5 as most of the title’s 1000 cars are what Polyphony Digital calls standard models that would be coming without a cockpit view.
