I've not heard of many people that actually like driving the Indy GP course. It's not that great a layout to being with and those double hairpins totally blow.

have you guys tried Road Atlanta? its amazing - also I would really love if they put RA in. And that reminds me, I need to get the NFS game just for that track.

Our own user Digital-Nitrate has discovered an early copy of the February issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, and it’s got some pretty incredible news! Indy (“IRL”) cars have been confirmed, in addition to “weather effects, as well as night racing for all tracks”! Here’s a nice little summary of everything that’s discussed and confirmed:

* 1,000+ vehicles
* All vehicles have modeled cockpits (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling)
* All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling
* Indy (IRL) cars and tracks
* NASCAR cars and track
* Up to 16 players online
* High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube
* Multi-display rendering
* Head-tracking

* Full weather and night racing on all tracks
* Night/Day on all tracks
how would this be possible on the ps3?
Unless you could output via both hdmi and component.

And if it's possible, sounds pretty sweet, turn your head and the display changes as you move.

You're making the assumption that your meatspace head movements would be mapped 1:1 with changes of view in the game. It won't work that way. Head tracking like this has been done for years on the PC. Watch the first three minutes or so of this vid for a look at the kind of experience that may be in store.

Nifty.

Maybe it will use playstation eye. Or whatever ts called.

I like it because you can actually look into a corner like in real life.

And yohan, it mentioned multiple display support.

I wonder if I could use my older ps3 as a 2nd unit for a 2nd display.

Then again it can't read a disc so dunno if it would work

Apparently Fuji Speedway is being shown at CES.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ro2Pj_R2PUY

Oh, and they're also showing some other track I've never heard of.

youre a PC racing guy so I excuse you - Fuji has been with GT series for a while now - and we have had the Ring since GT4.

what's more exciting to me is the sounds! finally the cars have realistic sound. good.

I knew these two tracks have been included in the predecessors. The current CES show is supposedly the first time they've been shown in GT5 though.

Don't worry, they are probably working on another demo. So, TBA either means they aren't gonna make the deadline but would rather just work than set another date, OR they just decided to completely rewrite the cloud rendering engine to perfectly simulate weather patterns.

Or maybe its because of that 3D thing. We may even be able to blame the success of Avatar for this delay..

IMO, I'd rather they delay the game so we'd get more realistic and random cloud patterns.

Wow, I'm this close to buying a 360 and just saying eff-it and giving all my hours to Forza.

red text? if you want haphazard weird-looking car models and details which are clearly done in haste, go for it

Well, I'm sure the higher quality lug nuts and interior air conditioning sounds will be worth the extra wait

I'll admit I get envious seeing all the car packs and screenshots over in that Forza thread... flawed car models or not, it's still probably fun.

I don't want to wear 3D glasses while playing. And don't we need a new 3D HDTV?

This may have been discussed already, but does anyone think the release and development of Prologue only encouraged more delays of the real thing?

I know Sony's plan. Release GT5 Prologue 2 in March. Then release GT5 in November. Instant doubling of profits!

you're thinking of the ESPN thing. if you look at the GT5 image showing the 3D, it looks like all you need are the glasses. and I agree, I dont want to wear 3D glasses while playing. but if it looks really good, i wont mind.

double-edged sword, I do think it delayed GT5 but at least we got SOMETHING to play in the meantime.

you know, I would not even be surprise if they pulled something like that. its like, whatever is the most logical path, they go a completely different path.
