yeah, thats the new model of any new games. they're doing it all over the place on PSN. while I don't like it, honestly sometimes I do like it, you're basically buying time. Instead of having to race for 3 hours to win some car, you just pay some money for it. time = money.

Well I hope it's as you say and not like forza 3. After you pay for dlc in forza you have to purchase it with game credits too. I always wrestle with the idea of working for content in the real world, then re earning it in the game.
... actually I prefer that the games just unlock everything from the start, but whatever. I guess that is why I only have 10's of hours in pc sims and hundreds in the console games.

PS3 gets Titanium Blue makeover for Gran Turismo 5 launch bundle; landing in Japan on November 3
Posted Aug 18th 2010 5:26AM by Vlad Savov
Shock of all horrors, Gran Turismo 5 will actually, finally launch in Japan and Europe on November 3. Of course, being more concerned with hardware as we are, our excitement is focused on the rich blue hue that will adorn PS3 consoles bundled with the grandiosely delayed racing game over in Nippon this fall. The ¥35,980 ($421) Gran Turismo 5 Racing Pack will be composed of a Limited Edition copy of the game plus a repainted skinny PlayStation 3 with a 160GB hard drive. Time to give your old importer buddy a call, eh?

So is it safe to assume that GT6 will be out in 2016?

I still have a feeling it will be delayed. There was an article on Kotaku last week sometime saying that the game still isnt final. It didnt say what they are still working on. If its the environments/physics, then fine. But if theyre adding more cars, just put the damn game out already and put the tracks/cars in DLC.

Wow those screenshots are sick! I especially like this one of a Miura:
Yessssssssss I want to use a Prius!!!!!....
The detail in this engine is remarkable. I love the rivets in the body as well:
Ugh I want a PS3 now.

im pretty sure there wont be any more delays. here are a couple pics I found of a PS3 special edition just for GT5:

not a fan of the blue PS3, would be a serious eyesore in any modern home entertainment setup - imo

Uh oh. Polyphony half-assed it.
Look at the wheels. The center cap locking thing is red on the real car. The mirror also looks white.
Thats at least 3 more years of development.

A theme can be selected, with the Belgian High Fens or Toscana two examples, and the individual track sectors are then defined.
Sectors are edited individually, with frequency of curves, sharpness of corners, degree of topography and banking angle are set with a series of sliders.
Yamauchi created one for the purpose of the demo, a 10km run through the Belgian High Fens. It was sparse but not without sparkle, with rolling hills and fields and the occasional environmental feature like a small village giving it the feeling of a long and winding country road.

how nifty, they made the PS3 look like a V12 engine block in that video..
