I finished my fifth placement match today and won 3 out of the 5, and was placed in silver league. I don't think it's right for me though because I never played SC1 and I think I lucked out with some of my opponents, especially the one who just left in the first minute of play. We'll see how badly I get beaten in silver league.
I did however completely pwn the last guy with void rays and observers (he was cranking out ghosts along with an marine marauder ball so I needed them) and I'm gonna have to keep that strategy up for a while

When faced with the choice I'd take out the air units.. Gives you control of the air units.

What do you play? Protoss?
When I did my final mission, I just made like 10 bunkers on each side plus by the artifact. Then, I placed like 6-7 siege tanks on each side. Then, I made like 4 battlecruisers to yamato the shit out of kerrigan. Lastly, I mostly played with 8-10 banshees to kill those pussy looking spawn shit whenever they popped up from the ground.

I'm like top 10 in the diamond league right now... but it's gotten pretty difficult now. My win/lose ratio is about 60/40 since I went inside of 10th rank.

Does anyone plays Zerg as a main race? When I was playing SC1, I always played Zerg as my main race. But then, when I started SC2, I tried Zerg for the first time and it felt so different, so I just pursued Terrran way. As I've been playing 1v1 league games against top 10 diamond league players, it seems to me that Zerg is the hardest race to go up against.
So last night, for like 2 hours, I was playing as a Zerg player.... and I think I fell in love. They are so great! It's totally different now. You don't need to build like 2-3 hatcheries to get a huge production going.. Queens generate like 4 extra lavas every 30 seconds or so. This is great.. I think I'm just gonna practice Zerg more and change my main as Zerg!

^ Zerg was undeniably the best race IMO in SC1. In RTS games, it always seemed to be speed being the ultimate ability to have...and well, Zerg had oodles of it.
That being said, I have yet to get SC2. Yes, I know I need it...but, I can't quite get it yet...maybe next week?

You need to get SC2 asap. You will love it.
I didn't know dumcha can play SC.

I love 2v2's it's a different dynamic than 1v1's. I do agree in 2v2's it requires probably 80% less skill while in 1v1, you are the result of the win or loss.

In 2v2, I HATE HATE HATE teams who both pick zerg or protoss. They basically just rush you with lings or zealots. So annoying. oh, you can also expect a hell lot of banelings with both being zerg. =[
#336

zealots are fairly easy to deal with. on the other hand, banelings can be very dangerous in the early stage of game. you just gotta out-micro him and separate your main group into two to three and try to pick off couple banelings by manually focus firing on it while moving.

SC was my life in University. It was school, Starcraft, school, starcraft...repeat. Maybe 3 hours of sleep per day. And yeah, Zerg Zerg Zerg all the way for me...If no choice, I'd use Protoss. But, even when the nerfed the Zergs for Brood Wars, the Zerg was still the strongest when played by a pro.
And yeah, it was against you Kimchis who I ran into the most problems on Battlenet skirmishes...

Either way, I haven't played this in a while cause I've been away but I can't wait to get back online and play

I used to play the Terran hardcore, but now I'm in LOVE with the protoss. The Void Rays are retardedly strong, especially with upgrades it's insane! Additionally the Protoss base can speed up buildings by 30% you can also use it to speed up your research as well!
Next they have the gateways which can turn into warpgates which can send units anywhere on the map where there is a pylon. Or you can build warp units that become mobile pylons. They are such a hax it's outrageous.

Yea I need to start playing different races. I've only been playing Terran while in SC1 I almost never played them. Luckily I've been getting a lot better though, been out of practice for a while.
At least for Terrans, marines are SUPPOSED to be the counter for void rays. Just have to have a lot of them. I'm pretty sure basically anything that's cheap and anti-air or anti-Protoss (i.e. Ghosts EMP) is a counter to them. Nothing armored of course either, because they do extra damage to armored.

Void Rays work like a charm in the silver and gold levels of league plays. The decent platinum and diamond protoss players don't really use Void Rays because marines with stims and vikings are extremely effective against Void Rays. Also, no decent players will let Protoss gather up more than 3 to 4 Void Rays anyway. Remember, Void Rays are not cheap. That means if protoss decides to build Void Rays, then they won't have that many gateway units to defend against Terran's timing pushes. About the timing when protoss gets out 1 or 2 void rays, Terran can easily steamroll through protoss ground units. Usually, Terran has a good chunk size combo of marines, marauders, and medivac or siege tanks.
3-4 unexpected Void Rays rush can be devastating to any races. However, if you are not capable of finding out what you are opponent is building, then you should work more on your scouting skills. Anything can be hard to counter, if it's unexpected.

oh it's kinda hard to use as it requires so much micro, but it is a very strong unit if used properly.
it can throw down couple auto turrets which are kinda like marines with more dps and hp, its does pretty dmg to speedlings and other light zerg units. its second skills is point defense drone. it is extremely useful as it literally make various units useless. it completely absorbs the dmgs thrown by certain units such as in zerg, mutas and hydras. so in a head on battle in the middle of the map, you throw down a pdd near the zerg's main units, then their mutas and hydras won't be able to do any dmg to your units for a short period.
its third spell which has to be researched is called hunter seeker missile. it deals about 100 splash dmg on the area you choose. that's a huge chunk of dmg to be dealt within split seconds. its very good against zerglings, mutas, and basically all zerg units as they have relatively low hp.

Thanks, now I need to build some strategy in 1vs1 haha. I'm not good haha. I keep building structures and no focus on units. I also need to work on my micro skills, since that comes in handy often.

Main Race: Protoss
I am currently in Top 10, I was #3, in my Platinum Division, my win ratio is 51%.
However... I just rage quit SC2 with a 9 streak losing spree (killing my rank)
When you know it is not your day, you just have to stop, but me, trying to stay positive, lost horribly... 4 out of those 9 my opponent just cheesed me.
I was on par against platinum/diamond match up, but now the match maker thinks I am at gold level, losing 2 games shortly afterward.
My View on Starcraft 2:
- I love the portraits that are available, almost close to 1 v 1 50 (Phoenix) portrait and 2 v 2 (Nyon).
- Campaign mode, it was okay until the end, but later I found out that Blizzard is going to release a Zerg and Protoss Retail so wondering how that will go.
- Graphics are on medium when playing melee, and loving it, wish I could experience it in ultra.
- The matchmaking system is very... stupid?
Things I think are IMBA (Imbalanced):
- Terran (The race as a whole)
- Roaches
- Warp Gate
(So my views are unbiased )
A great RTS game to play with your friends, I have enjoyed every 2 v 2, 3 v 3, 4 v 4, match ups, despite winning or losing (mostly winning )
Side Note:
For those who haven't played Starcraft: Broodwar, when playing SC2 for the first time, LOSE ALL your placement matches, you will start off low, but don't worry, you will get more practice and work your way up the ranks and leagues.
I, who played a little bit of Beta, when playing placement matches, I was just generally faster then my opponents, so I won 4 out of 5 and placed into Platinum... That first day, I lost 11 matches in a row, and ended up going against bronze/silver. Just a side note for those who likes to take care of their ranks.
Sorry for the long post... this is my way of raging after losing 9 flippin' games in a row...
Also to alert and see how fellow aziners are liking the game

lol, I placed into silver but I think it's a bit high since this is the first rts game I've played online. I win like 1 out of every 5 or 6 games so I guess it's okay, but i'd like to win more. Haven't played in like a week but I'll be getting back into it...

I played BW back in the days.
My gf bought me SC2 and I was so excited and went on battle net to play against other people without knowing anything about the new units and buildings. lol but somehow I won 4 out of 5 placements and placed in gold league. I studied the new units and buildings for couple days and I was in platinum. After couple more days, I broke into diamond league and am now top 5 pretty much.
I read some good stuff from team liquid starcraft2 forum.
if any of you guys want a practice guy, i can do it. let me know.

Hey JS, do you have any particular build order thats effective. I really need to improve haha, I'm not getting this 1v1 thing down. Well I dont want you to right down a particular build order but is there any on youtube you've seen that's good?? Most people play protoss so one against them would be preferable haha. I've tried getting reapers as quick as possible and going to attack from the back. But sometimes if they finish off my reapers, I have like no units since I was microing the attack. And if they counter, they usually kill me.

Hey, first of all, there isn't a single perfect build order. However, there are good counter units for every unit. That means if you know what your opponent is doing, then you will be able to create the perfect unit composition to directly counter your opponent's army.
